Do you even want to be a wildcard team??

Real mixed feelings about this. The extra game and all would be nice, but I for one dont want to see 2003 redux. This team (and staff) has some serious structural flaws.

Don't understand most of you. Yes, it would be great for the Cowboys to make the playoffs so I could watch my favorite team win another game. But realistically with 2 games left in the season, we aren't going to win more then 1 game. Maybe we limp into the playoffs so we can watch the Giants, or whoever else we get lucky to play, beat us 35-0. It will certainly help you if your goal was to get drink while watching the game. But when did Cowboy fans start settling for the playoffs. I'm certainly not saying the team should quit, but we need to find out if any of our remaining players can contribute. Are we going to end this season the same as last with no idea how Romo can throw, give Copper a few passes, use Thompson a little more, play Peterman, etc. At least give them some experience. Can't believe our backup QB hasn't even thown 1 NFL pass.

If we somehow dominate Carolina and blow apart STL, then yeah - give me the playoffs.
I agree... But who sees that happening?

In 2003, I was so pumped to be in the playoffs after years of 5-11, and took the loss pretty well... But now, in Parcells' third year of building this, getting blown out in a road wildcard game doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. We're Cowboys fans, and we want Super Bowl contenders, not backdoor playoff entries that are just fodder for some fired up home team.

I think TonyS makes a great point in that it gives our young kids playoff experience. Win, lose or draw (well, scratch the draw part), a playoff game is good experience.

Even if we get our junk handed to us, it's the experience and feel of the playoffs that are good for the team.

Not only yes but hell yes. For one this team will never give up so if they're in the playoffs, they're in the playoffs.

Second, I think it would be good for this team, next year, if they can look back at this year and see how they scraped in the playoffs. Should provide motivation all off season.

Third the experience can only help imo.

Fourth I don't see any big difference drafting 18th or 21st. I think that's a weak and sorry reason to root for you team to lose. That's a loser attitude.

Just think that it would be better experience for the young guys on the team to give them some playing time - if we can scrape into the playoffs then that's great.

But I don't think we should keep Key and TGlenn while we're running 2-TE sets trying to pound the ball in the 3rd qtr when we're down by 3 TD's. The point should not be "lets continue with what we think works". The point should be "let try to shake it up".

4wr sets
draw plays
overload plays
roll-out plays

And IF we're down in the 4th in carolina and our offense has done nothing, give Romo or Henson a shot. We HAVE to find out SOMETHING out our other players going into the offseason. That to me is more important than making the playoffs.

I'm not rooting for us to lose - the draft is not what I'm looking towards. Just care more about the long-term prospects of the team rather than "win now", cause THAT ain't gonna happen.

this team is too up and down ... they need to get their collective head on straight first.

If we can't beat the Commanders, how are we supposed to do anything in the playoffs? Yeah it would be great for us to have a chance at winning the SB, but we already saw what happens when we limp into the playoffs with a mediocre team.

2003 Cowboys vs. Carolina after a "magnificent" 10-6 season. Whoops. Well, we'll be awsome next year - just watch.

2004 Our year, man. We're the "We're THIS close to being a SB team b/c we got into the playoffs after 3 straight 5-11 season" Cowboys. 6-10.

I don't want any false hopes to float around Valley Ranch. This team has serious problems, and getting into the playoffs will not help them whatsoever.

We have too many questions, and only two games left to get some answers. We should pay attention to the lessons of this slap-in-the-face loss, and start figuring out how to get ready to compete FOR REAL. Obviuosly we've stopped doing that somewhere along the way. . .

Throw out the conservative offense, and blitz - creatively - like there's no tomorrow. Let's see what we got in our young WR's and our QB's. Let Roy go nuts. Let's figure out who stays here in the off-season and who goes.

In my opinion, the rest of this season is not about winning or losing anymore.

I like what you're saying with one exception, the qb's. They'll only embarass us even more, that's why we're looking at Kasey Printers and Dustin Long.

the draft is a crap shoot. who's to say another jacob rogers isn't waiting for us. let's make the playoffs and hope we get into the groove. the playoffs should be the only objective. i'll get exited about the draft once the season is over.

The draft is not a crap shoot. It's all about decision-making and the people making the decisions. Some teams actually draft consistently well. The word on Jacob Rogers coming out of the draft was that he was injury-prone and a soft rich kid. The word on Al Johnson was that he was small and injury prone.

I do believe it's pointless, but I'll always take the playoffs...I love watching the Cowboys, and without them, I don't get much out of the playoffs, just a casual observer. Plus, who knows...once you're in anything can happen.

I know we're not very good on the OL and that our LB corps is dinged and Henry isn't back at CB, but we have stopped the run and generated a pass rush against some pretty good teams, and I know we can protect Bledsoe if we really want to...I blame the coaching staff for yesterday's loss as much or more than the players. We should have quickly moved to max protection...we never did, and I just don't understand why.

Besides, we've already won enough games that we're going to be in the middle tier of the draft regardless, so I don't subscribe to losing more games. Even if we get knocked out of the playoffs this week, I'll still want to win against the Rams in the final week.

I think the only time I'd really want to lose would be if I was Houston or SF with a great difference maker waiting in the balance....that doesn't describe our situation.

All these young guys this year...the playoffs would be an important experience, imo.

I wouldnt mind, we have been able to stick with very talented teams this year and i wouldnt mind us being there, because i think we would fair pretty well, we just need to give Bledsoe time, and he will fair well. 1ST off season priority offensive line!!!!!!!!!

If we as fans are giving up - do we have a right to expect the players not to?

Just throwing it out there.

I guess I'll take a playoff game even though I'm not super enthusiastic about it. I would have liked to enter the playoffs in a positive frame of mind with a shot at moving forward. The only thing we will face if we back our way in this year is a quick exit against better teams. It comes down to one more game to watch as long as I hold my expectations firmly in check (no kool aid).

I was initially of the thought that who wants to go if you can't win the whole thing. However, Sarge has made a great point that should not be overlooked, if we make it, it gives us another excuse to imbibe!

Anyone that would want to see us lose the last two games in order to improve draft position, must not have a competitive bone in their body and jelly for a spine. You play EVERY game to win. This season was anything but a waste, we got valuable experience for alot of our young guys and developed much depth.

This team is going to be better next year, I would love to see Ware, Spears etc... get some playoff experience even if it is only one game.
