I think it must vary based on where you live.
If you live in Texas, .. you are surrounded by other Cowboy fans that share your pain, and share your opinions of the Cowboys.

If you live outside of Texas, it matters just where you do live.

If you live inside the fanbase of a losing NFL franchise, then it doesn't bother you as much.

But if you live inside the fanbase of a winning NFL franchise, .. it is horrible and yes it is embarassing.

And I can only imagine if that winning fanbase is another NFC East team, then it must be unbearable.

So when other teams fans are talking about the playoffs and the Conference championship game, ... and all you have to talk about with your team is giving up 40 first downs in a game, giving up 51 points in a game, 32nd ranked defense, INT's instead of game-winning drives, .. a delusional, senile, face of the franchise owner, .. 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons, one playoff win in 16-17 years, and a coach that is learning on the job, ... then yes it is extremely embarassing.

Wow. I feel bad now.:( Way to put it all in perspective, though.

I don't know if embarrassed is the word, but I have never felt the way I feel right now. I need assurance that things will get better, but I'm not getting it.

Hang in there. Lot of folks depressed right about now. The first time I recall feeling that the Cowboys, my team, were stuck in molasses and just didn't seem to be improving one bit, was, I believe the fifth year of my commitment to the team. We hadn't won more than five games in the previous five years, and even started off losing all the games the first year, save one measly tie. I had really wondered if the coaching was up to snuff, and was sorta stunned when the owner gave the coach an extension of I think ten years, if memory serves correctly. I've seen a lot since that time, some good ,some bad, some bizarre! I've never been embarrassed to say I'm a Cowboys fan. If somebody laughs or denigrates my team in bad times, I always tell them, "That's five time world champion Cowboys to you, buddy"!

There are plenty of Cowboys fans and haters in the ATL and everywhere else. I guess their just not in your circle.

Rarely see anyone in Cowboys gear. Once in a blue moon I hear the name dropped & it's usually at the airport.

If there is the huge pack of Cowboy fans here they are quiet & I never see them. I don't do the sports bar scene & I have no idea if they gang up there. I did see a Steeler jersey today. Ugh.

Embarrassed? Not really. Most of the people I associate with have gotten to the point where they pity me as a Cowboys fan...and dont comment much. They have gone from busting my chops over Cowboys' losses to actually just politely saying 'its not gonna change until your team gets a football guy to run the show'.

Jerry's not my dad. Garrett's not my brother.

I love my team and my team is bigger than the names in it. I will always be a fan and the day I'm embarrassed to say it- then I'm no longer a fan.

I lived for years in L.A. when the Lakers and the Spurs were battling every year in the playoffs.
Some years the Spurs won.
Some years the Lakers killed them.
Every year I wore the Silver and Black.
Even when the Lakers sweeped them.
Sneers and jeers every time I walked out of my apartment. I didn't care. I watched them since '88. You? '05 , but you followed the Bulls when MJ was with them?
You're no fan. You are no fan.
Never be embarrassed to be a fan of YOUR team.
Unless they're not really YOUR team.

Only embarrassed about our HC. That's about it. We could have anybody we want if Jerry would just seize control, but for some reason he won't. I don't get it and never will. Could you imagine how much more money he could really make if he did the promotion and business side, and allowed somebody like Belichek to coach and run the team year after year?

This thing worth be worth twice as much!
Lol what?

We would be much better off with Jerry out of the picture completely. Jerry won't hire a coach like Belichek because he wouldn't have control. He is a puppet master his ego won't allow for anyone else to receive the credit. He has to prove he can do it his way. The team would be better off he sold it.

To answer the original question, no I'm not embarrassed of being a Cowboys fan, but I am embarrassed by the leadership of the team. Jerry Jones being the chief source of my embarrassment.

Hell no. No fan of any team should ever be embarrassed to follow the team they love. If they are, then maybe they need to adjust their thinking. I have a friend here in Tucson who was the only Saints fan I knew, until they started winning. Suddenly there were Saints fans around Arizona. I am proud to say I knew he was a fan when they were awful. Got a friend who is a Browns fan. They've not been good in the entire time I've known him. Not one year. That guy is tried and true without fail. In fact half of his garage is painted Browns colors and the other half Indians colors, and they do not exactly go together. He's proud as a peacock of it. One of my favorite guys to talk football with. Got a buddy who is a Lions fan. They've really never done anything. he never wavers in his love. He's crazy to think Barry Sanders was better than Emmitt, but other than that bit of delusion, I am proud to be his friend.

Not really. When they say something to me about Coach Jones, I equate it to if they said I had a booger on my nose. In both circumstances, they are pointing out a real problem and are trying to be helpful. Therefore I appreciate the concern.

Fair and honest discussion here-

I'm 45yrs old, been a fan since '73
For the 1st time ever- I am actually embarrassed to be a fan. It hurts and I know it's just a sports team.... But damn every time I think it can't get any worst lately, you can bet it does. An endless string of full blown embarrassment to the PROUD BLUE STAR!

One seriously disappointed fan

Sounds like a personal problem to me. Hell no I'm not embarrassed to be a Boyz fan, angry pissed off and mad but never embarrassed.

I wear a Cowboys shirt or hat about 3-4 times a week. I don't hide that i'm a Cowboys fan because that's my team and always will be. To answer your question though, no i'm not embarrassed but i'm definitely not happy w/ the state of the team either. I'm sure most on here aren't tho.
