Do you feel embarrassed to openly be a fan?

Not really. When they say something to me about Coach Jones, I equate it to if they said I had a booger on my nose. In both circumstances, they are pointing out a real problem and are trying to be helpful. Therefore I appreciate the concern.

Lol that's great

Only embarrassed about our HC. That's about it. We could have anybody we want if Jerry would just seize control, but for some reason he won't. I don't get it and never will. Could you imagine how much more money he could really make if he did the promotion and business side, and allowed somebody like Belichek to coach and run the team year after year?

This thing worth be worth twice as much!

He's far more interested in being in power and calling all the shots in an attempt to receive all the credit than he is in hiring someone else to run the show. We won with Jimmy in charge and Jerry decided he'd rather be in control even it meant losing than letting someone else run it even it meant winning.

That description of an NFL owner, to me is embarassing.

Jerry Jones has stolen the one NFL team that I love, and is holding them hostage.

I do understand where you're coming from.
I really do.
Especially an old-school fan from the days of Landry who still have the sensibilities of a man prior to the internet age.

But today is today and even if Jones IS holding our team hostage- it's still our team.

And our team has more history than almost any other team in existence and nobody can take that away.
I personally have witnessed much of it and am dang proud to say I have.

I love our history, .. and I am very proud of our history.

I am guessing that is part of why I am having such a hard time accepting, or finding anything to be proud of with the Jerry Jones Barnum and Bailey Circus.

I can think of many adjectives that describe my feelings as a Dallas Cowboys fan; embarrassed is not one of them.

Yep he's the face of the team & an ugly one at that.

He does more yapping than anyone else connected to the team.

Jerry's not my dad. Garrett's not my brother.

I love my team and my team is bigger than the names in it. I will always be a fan and the day I'm embarrassed to say it- then I'm no longer a fan.

I lived for years in L.A. when the Lakers and the Spurs were battling every year in the playoffs.
Some years the Spurs won.
Some years the Lakers killed them.
Every year I wore the Silver and Black.
Even when the Lakers sweeped them.
Sneers and jeers every time I walked out of my apartment. I didn't care. I watched them since '88. You? '05 , but you followed the Bulls when MJ was with them?
You're no fan. You are no fan.
Never be embarrassed to be a fan of YOUR team.
Unless they're not really YOUR team.

The embarrassment comes from the poor management and coaching . When the same mistakes are repeated over and over and Jerry's ego is too big to change , it is nothing to be proud of. The Cowboys were the class of pro sports teams at one time. Those days are over. It is embarrassing that one man's ego prevents the Cowboys from being the most respected team again. The Cowboys have always been hated, but years ago they were respected. No longer. I would really be embarrassed if I spent money buying gear and tickets that pads Jerry's wallet. My money will not go to support him or his ego.

Because being popular does not mean squat!

In sports, which includes NFL football, all there is, .. is winning.

It may not mean anything in terms of wins, but in a thread about being embarrassed to be a fan, it means a whole lot.

I wear my Cowboys hat all the time - great conversation starter. Why would I be embarrassed to have a favorite NFL team? If somebody is a bandwagon fan, that's something to be embarrassed about. Real fans endure the hard years.

That respect thing is surely missing now. That's got to be earned.

Being popular will not get one first down, will not put any points on the board, .. and it will not win any game.

I couldn't care less about being popular.

I get what you're saying and I don't necessarily disagree with you.
How this team is managed IS embarrassing. There's no getting around that.

I haven't bought any Cowboys gear in a decade and a half and I won't until they get things straightened out. My gear comes from the late 80's and I still take good care of it.

But I will not denounce my fandom for them. I will not placate a fan of some other teaming dogging mine- that's a "female dog" move.
I will cite my team's history and say "yes" Jerry is steering this team wrong right now, but I have no say in that matter, but I'm a Cowboy for LIFE. I will not miss games. I will support them every game.
I am a good fan. I may not support them financially any longer, but I will support them emotionally.

Don't you?

Are you in Dallas? I would imagine it is easier if you are local,
Exactly what I was going to say. Yes, there are times when it's downright embarrassing to openly be a Cowboys fan in New Orleans these days. Sure the Saints had a sucky past, much worse than what we're going through now; but no one is interested in the past. The running joke is that all Cowboy fans want to talk about is the past (well, yeah, that's all we have!!)

It would be tough in NO. Close to Dallas & they are contenders. And they kicked our butts this season. In record setting fashion too.
