I judge a GM on two things, hiring smart coaches and bringing in talent. His decisions have been sound in that regard in the recent past. They may not have all worked out, but at the time they were almost all sound decisions. And that's how you have to judge a decision -- not in hindsight, but with the information you have at the time it's made.

Well that is a pretty piss poor way to judge things. I think I'll judge on actual results, you go ahead and judge on intentions.

Another genius among us.

Just say you made a bad analogy. Or do you become violently ill admitting you were wrong?

You miss the point completely.

Regardless if its realistic or not he's saying if at the time that decision goes in your favor, you should go with it.

Would you then say that if you used a lottery ticket with a 1/100 chance of winning (same analogy as theo), and it turned out that you won for $1,000,000, that before knowing that you won, you would say that's a good decision?

I don't think so. It's ALL hindsight.

buying a lotto ticket is one of the stupidest decisions that you could make

even if you have the best odds, it's still a good chance that you don't win anything and are out of money, or in theo's case, food

it was a stupid analogy, I mean seriously, that's the best you people could come up with?

plus everything you do in the NFL is a gamble, there are no sure things, unlike with buying food, you know you're going to get a meal, stupid, stupid analogy

Weird I see 69% with some confidence in him, either full, somewhat or losing confidence in him

that means about 60% of their lives are really ****ty, and keeping a rosy picture of the Cowboys is how they make it through the day

DR: I thought if I were going to have coaching in my title, I needed certain powers and I wouldn't have those. Otherwise you're just a advisor with no teeth, and I didn't think that was fair or right.

That ought to bring the confidence level down even further. The control freak Jerry Jones chased off Dan Reeves because Jerry just can't stand delegating some authroity to other people.

Jerry's ego trumps winning.

my confidence level in jerry jones is strongly shaken

now i do know he wants to win, but main thing with jerry he wants to be acknowledged as the main person that is in control and by him the cowboys gets to the super bowl.

therein is where the problem lays

the team has to respect and fear the head coach;

for example, don shula, lombardi, tom landry, jimmy johnson, chuck noll

all of those players feared and respected their coach, now did they like him all the time, no. but they feared and respected those type of coaches

when a player doesnt fear and respect his head coach, and know that he can go over the head coach and go gripe and complain to jerry jones, then there is a problem, where is the accountability, the leadership
'
sure jerry jones has done a lot, he let jimmy johnson build this team with jerry jones approval, at least for the first 3 years, we all know that, right?

and jimmy johnson built that team towaards 3 superbowls, with the team in 95 being already built with jerry jones adding deion sanders in 95, but the team was already built with team leaders and champions that knew what it takes to win.

thats what jerry jones overlooks and forgets

now jerry jones has gone out and gotten good players, he let bill parcells rebuild the team with the scouting department, players bill went out and got along with players jerry jones went out and got,

jerry has paid over 140 million in just bonuses to such players like witten, romo, barber, ratliff, leonard davis, columbo, hamlin, newman, T O, roy williams, other roy williams,

to keep the team intact and geared for championships, but when players are allowed not to hit in practice for first 25 days, allowed to have extra days off, allowed not to have to pay heavy fines for being late to team meetings or treatments, but only a measly $100. then something is wrong, deadly wrong

when you as a head coach and owner dont put emphasis on special teams, something is wrong.

so right now, it just makes you want to cry, get angry, frustrated over all of this mess and the dan reeves

finally adding in all of the unnamed sources that reveal stuff about the team, is that team chemistry, is that team bonding and caring about each other when players or whomever blabs to the media,

that just shows where is the leadership in the coaching dept and the leadership from the management department when this type of blabbing is allowed,
