Lets say the Boys are ahead in the 4th quarter and they blow the lead and lose and dont make the playoffs. Do you keep him around??

You have to give him 3 years to see if he has it.

The case is still open.

This team has way too many below average starters and is working with a roster way below the cap. We are probably functionally about $30M below the cap between dead money and the $18M we are below the cap right now (pro-rated bonus on MB3, RW11, Bigg, Columbo, Gurode). We were also in a bind as we were about $30M over the cap at the start of TC and we had to chop salary and reneg multiple contracts.

I think he has been okay this year. Not as great as supporters suggest, not as bad his "haters" suggest. I think the same is true of Ryan.

This is a flawed roster so I can't blame him for most of the team's miscues. We have an average roster once you factor in the stars and we get avg. results and play lots of close games. When you play lots of close games you will lose them as they turn on a single play. Our biggest issue by far has been a defense that cannot hold a lead due to bad pass defense (bad pass rush, bad CBs).

Before the season started I thought we'd be around 8-8 or 9-7.

What I didn't anticipate was how weak the NFC East would be relative to other NFC teams.

I think we're heading in the right direction and in the process revamping the OL. We need to do the same on defense at a few positions as well.

If we do that, I think the realistic aim next year (assuming no serious injuries to key personnel) should be around 10 to 11 wins.

He should have been promptly fired after the Arizona game.

Bring in Fisher and get out of the way.

A better question for you is, which one of these would hurt more?

1. Another 4th quarter collapse and loss that leads to his firing?

2. The Commanders hire him, draft a QB and win Super Bowls?

If Dallas gets beat 52-7, Garrett is retained.

No question.

So you are saying there is a chance that he gets fired?

:laugh1:

This was a stupid comment the first time you said it!

Jerry already said continuity. Still think he pines for Fisher.

He needs at least a full offseason...

BUT, if this team comes out the gate next year at say 1-7 while making the same dumb mistakes and his playcalling and game management haven't improved, I think making a move is something that really needs to be considered.

He had a series of fireable offenses in that game, and it's not like he has been shining like a star since then either...

Well... Yeah.

Like Fisher was some kind of "Playoff machine" while coaching the Titans.

146-120 doesn't knock my socks off.

At the moment, Jason Garrett has a better winning percentage.

Look it up. ;)

I was thinking about this today. Can we pay him, yet relinquish his Head Coaching duties?

"but, but, but ownership never got him any good players. He did more with less than any other coach in the history of the world"

Fisher did pretty well with McNair, and I'm pretty confident that Romo is a better QB.

We don't need the best coach in the world. Just need someone who won't directly cost us games over and over again.

If Garrett doesn't blow the Arizona game, we're not even having this convo about the Giants right now...

LOL!

And like Garrett was handed a "bowl of cherries" when he signed on to coach this group and work for the Joneses.

Fair enough. I will give you Garrett/Arizona.

To be perfectly honest with you. I wanted it this way.

I wanted EVERYTHING to be on the line.
The last game of the season.
Against the Giants.

The Cowboys of 00's and now '11 and on have yet to show their mettle!

Get in!
Get it on!
Get it done!

I would actually feel worse if it was locked up and these frakkin players were just waiting for next game.

NOW, its do or die. Better to go into playoffs after really beating Giants and getting in.

Fisher went 13-3 with an ancient Kerry Freaking Collins at QB. He won 13, 13, 12, and 11 games with McNair, who wasn't great. He won 10 games with Vince Young. He also is reported to be universally respected around the league.

And he's the one guy who if he came here, might actually be working for a less loony owner.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. Of course it won't happen, but hypothetically, I'd love to have him here.
