Do you keep Garrett

If there was a coach like Andy Reid available, I'd help pack Garrett's things. I want to give Garrett the benefit of the doubt though. Although, the truth is he's been here five years already and still hasn't put a stamp on this team. Unless what we're seeing now is the mark of Garrett, which could very well be true.

:laugh2: @ you wanting Reid. Why so we never run the ball again?

You've made that point several times, and it's a fair point. We're all entitled to what we think makes someone qualified to be HC. My question to you is, what makes someone deserving? Previous success as HC? Better success as an assistant? Please note that I mean this in all due respect, and am not trying to incite anything. Just interested in your opinion (and anyone else's for that matter).
A history of coaching and success at it. Neither of which Garrett possessed when hired.

His stamp is terrible game management and never ceasing confusion among players. It was week 16, with virtually all of the starters playing on the first drive with scripted plays and people still couldn't get lined up right.

He's had a History of coaching....?

Yeah, amazing isn't it?

Personally, I think Garrett can one day be a good coach but don't think that day will come until all the current stars are long gone.

You either stick with him in hopes he learns something or can him and bring in someone who's beyond learning the ropes and hope Dallas can get a superbowl out of it.

He'd make Romo even better. I don't believe Garrett does anything to make actively make Romo better. It doesn't reflect well on Garrett when the offense consistently plays its best when the game breaks into streetball. If anything, Romo's talent makes Garrett look effective at times. With Reid, we'd probably actually see Romo with quality scheming backing him up. and I'd take my chances on him as a personnel guy over Garrett. Not that Reid has been flawless, but they've retooled successful in Philly several times.

I'd say theo was referring to a little more than 4-5 seasons as a marginal OC.

And before anyone brings up the "stats", check the offensive ranking before Garrett arrived and explain to me a consistent inability to score in the redzone.

:laugh2:

Marginal OCs regularly have teams approaching 400 points scored in a season.

You guys have lost your minds.

A better question for you is, which one of these would hurt more?

1. Another 4th quarter collapse and loss that leads to his firing?

2. The Commanders hire him, draft a QB and win Super Bowls?

We have Garrett and a QB, so I guess you are saying the Commanders roster is better than ours? Or maybe you are saying that we will win multiple Superbowls with Jason given time?

Wait. I just read the post again.......nevermind.

Btw, Garrett should stay no matter what happens Sunday. :)

I sure am. I know I am right about him.

So how much of a history then did guys like Sean Payton, Mike McCarthy, Mike Smith, John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, etc. have? I haven't taken the time to look them all up, so I don't know. I do know that few around here thought all that much of Payton being a HC. Shanahan had a history of success. Would you rather have him? Harbaugh was ST coach before getting the Baltimore gig. There are a ton of examples of coaches who didn't light the world on fire as assistants or previous head coaches, who went on to be very successful, and vice versa. There just isn't enough correlation between having success (or lack thereof) in one place or position, and then having it (or not) somewhere else.

Whether or not Garrett is ultimately successful as a HC, it won't necessarily result from whether or not he had a history of success.

I personally would like to see Garret be just the head coach. I think pulling double duty is too much. We need an offensive coordinator so Jason can do what head coaches are supposed to do motivate and manage the team. I have no problem with Garrett as OC or as HC, I just don't like him doing both!!

So now you're Theo's spoke person?

How much does he pay you?

Oh, snap.....!

There isn't an outcome on Sunday that would make me want a new head coach. Or defensive coordinator, for that matter.

And you may be right. I think they do need upgrades or replacements at several positions. I'd like to see him get a SB win with Romo and some of the others, but it may be with a whole new team altogether.

He's getting the Sean Payton treatment. Remember how Sean sucked and was overrated and we didn't need him? Yeah, that worked well.

Garrett's been brilliant designing this offense with the talent he's been given.

Exactly.

Now, if these guys could have him they'd crawl on their hands and knees through glass for him.

I appreciate the support, but I'm not trying to nail him or anyone else around here (well, almost anyone). There are just way too many examples of coaches who have had a lot of success, after not having tremendous success somewhere else, and vice versa.

There has to be a more to what qualifies someone to be a head coach than that.
