Do you keep Garrett

If I am a 7 year scout I hope I am smart enough to understand that my contract situation as a scout for 7 years and Dan Reeves' situation who has coached multiple teams to Superbowls in his career are two entirely and utterly different situations.

And if I am not, then I am in the wrong business anyway and that probably explains some of our drafting the past several years....
Oh brother...

i want garrett gone but it won't happen so the next best thing would be ,the hiring of an offensive cordinator.

I don't mean to butt in on what you said, but it is a great lead in.

Everyone accuses me of defending Garrett to the ends of the earth but no one wants to admit that I have NEVER been opposed to bringing in an OC or more Offensive minds.

I was easily one of the biggest voices for Reeves. I was easily one of the biggest voices for Paul Chryst. If Norv gets fired I will pimp for him here. I have repeatedly said I would welcome Sparano back.

People read what they want to read and ignore everything else.

Lets say the Boys are ahead in the 4th quarter and they blow the lead and lose and dont make the playoffs. Do you keep him around??

If the Cowboys have a lead in the 4th quarter but end up losing then, yes Garrett should stay. It means they played a competitive game and were in it until the end.

If it were up to me, the only way I consider firing Garrett after the Giants game is if the Cowboys play as gutless of a game as they did against the Eagles a few years ago in the season finale when Wade was still the HC. If any team gets beat that badly with a playoff birth on the line then the head coach has no business returning IMO, as it likely means the team quit which is a direct reflection on the HC. That Eagles finale was a turning point for Wade Phillips as the HC in Dallas and in hindsight he probably should have been let go after that game.

Maybe so but Garrett has also put up much better numbers year after year.

Hmm... In what way? In 2006 before JG and with Bledsoe playing part of the way, we were 4th in scoring. Since then we've been ranked #2 (with Sparano), #18, #14, #7, and now #12.

And Dodger12, wilee, and Catch nailed it on Reeves.

"And don't even tell me that he didn't sabotage"

Then there would be nothing to talk about if your premise is built on this. Wade was the HC if he was unwilling to take more of an active role pretaining to the offense and what was going on then it falls on him. I like Wade and supported Wade but at the end of the day the HC is where everything falls and if things were being done on offense he did not like then it was up to him to see that it was corrected
What would you do if your owner basically said, hold down the fort for Garrett, don't touch anything but the defense, and if someone gets out of line, send them to me?

This is basically how it went down. Did I believe in Wade? Heck no. But to me, Garrett should've been fired too because he under achieved as did Wade. Do I like Garrett as a HC? I'm a little iffy on that right now, I did at first. But I'd still give him another year, unless he comes out with a losing record the first half of the season next year.

When did Jerry say this?

Please provide a link to Wade claiming this, or Jerry.

I guarantee everyone else that the above never happened.

I don't understand why fans are content with waiting until a coach just absolutely sucks the entire life out of the organization and unequivocally proves that he has completely lost the team in order to finally be convinced it's ok to let him go.

That's an awful mentality. Garrett has been BEGGING to get fired for a few weeks now. The Lions game was his first request. Then, he decided to help the Pats win. And if those two games weren't enough, he decided to completely screw up the entire Arizona game, including 2-3 epic disasters in situational management, and an "icing the kicker" situation that has been late night comedian fodder for weeks now.

This team would already be NFC East Champs if Garrett had just missed the team plane to New England and Arizona. How many other coaches in the league can you say that about? Rarely have I seen a coach make millions to help an opponent win, and also get consistent support from some of his fanbase in the process.

Depends on this off season. If it goes the way I think it will, 2012 is not at all out of the realm of possible.

We are a few seasons away from being a dominate team. But we could compete for a SB with a few additions in the offseason and have some things go our way with a few players on the team now.

Yeah, I am not talking about dominant. I'm talking about a realistic contender.

Funny how we've been "a few seasons away from being a dominant team" for awhile now. Garrett has been here 5 years. That's plenty of seasons for most coaches in well-managed organizations.

The 9ers were a good coach and solid QB play away from being a top NFC team so we better be closer than a few seasons away unless you're implying that in a few seasons Garrett gets fired.

This is my opinion, I can give you a link to my high school reunion celebration if you just REALLY want a link.

From my couch, this is how it looked. I'm pretty sure Garrett was in place before Wade. Check - I'm pretty sure Jones wanted Garrett to be the Head Coach even before he hired Wade, which explains why he was promoted for doing a horrible job.

Sometimes my friend, you have to have good old common sense.

Garrett gets a free pass on producing results in a result oriented league.

this.

i want garrett here for 15 years but if i see another 44-6 gutless performance on sunday i'm going to need wholesale changes.

that's how important this game is.

Wow!!! Garrett's first season as HC, and he gets blamed for 5yrs of stuff, wow!!! HC and OC is two different jobs. I know you know the HC has more responsibility and power than the OC.

Yeah, I pretty much knew that before I even asked which is why I find it so funny. Especially when described as common sense.

I am not a fan of the hire and Jason has done very little to change my mind this season.

But firing him after 1 season when the team has a legitimate shot at the division title does, as other have said, make us look like the Commanders or Raiders.

The die was cast, you have to roll with it a few years. He looks in a little over his head to me, but you have to give him the chance to improve and get his own players in place. An OC would be a welcome addition.

I will say though if this team 44-6's it again this Sunday against the Giants I will probably change my mind completely. We wasted two more years with Wade not firing him after that debacle, I'm not willing to go through that again.

I was waiting to see when someone else would say it.

I wasn't aware that an offensive coordinator was responsible for the defense and special teams, and running all practices, and personnel moves.
