Could have been worse, but he was not in my top 3.

Same with the DC. Not anywhere near my top 10, but Marinelli is gone. I hope. I pray.:hammer:

Totally underwhelming. They didn’t even perform a diligent search. I’m sick of the way this franchise does things but I can’t not be a Cowboys fan. I hate it.

Jerry picks coaches like I pick real estate agents--the first guy will do.

Long read but it was interesting at the time and still offers insight. Will be very interesting how this affects the Dak contract as well.. I can't see McCarthy wanting, if the report is at all accurate, to go down the same path of a superstar QB thinking it is about him.

Does MM go to Jerry and ask for the chance to recruit his QB and groom him or does he see Dak as ready made as long as he follows the script? If I'm MM the first thing I'm doing is asking/reviewing tape to see how many times Dak audibled and whether it was justified/correct etc.. and then having honest conversations about how much improvisation was happening on the field.

The GB situation was toxic but I would hope MM has learnt from that.

Just to kind of add onto that.

I have no doubt we have the talent.. IF we can keep the majority of our FAs here. Which will all revolve around Dak and rightfully so. For mine you decide what you are doing at QB first and foremost and then build around that.

The hire isn't the worst that was out there, I am not one that thinks a unproven college coach is the answer, at least not with a roster that is built to win now. This team underachieved because of poor game planning and failure to make adjustments, "Hopefully" that changes. Do I like the hire, yes, do I love it, no but lets be honest with ourselves, Payton isn't leaving New Orleans, Belicheat needs to stay away, far away. He was the best available in my opinion. At least we have something other than another vanilla Garrett led team to look forward to.

Too late. No way he was offered or accepted the job without Dak. Who in his right mind would take this job if he didn’t believe in Dak? Backups are atrocious, and we have the 17th pick in the draft. It’s not even plausible that he isn’t excited about Dak already.

Kind of meh on McCarthy, but taking into consideration our realistic choices, I'm okay with it. He's an upgrade and he's won in the NFL.
Thank god.
A coach that is OK is a good thing.
Oh, sometime you make me so angry!

Two things.. MM loves technically perfect QBs.. hence why he favoured Alex Smith at the time. MM likes classic pocket passers. Dak is neither of these things. Second is that MM has seen exactly what happens when you pay ONE guy a whole heap of dough and lose all the pieces around him.. it goes crap. First thing he tells Jerry is don't lose Cobb, Cooper, Jones, Quinn et al just to pay Dak.

So I think MM will keep Dak.. I think he probably is excited about having a ready made offence here.. but I think he won't want to pay Dak the money he has been asking for. the question is whether they tag him and test the market or whether Dak comes back to reality with his figure.

It really just depends on if Jerry lets him pick the ingredients to cook the dinner. Still, I'm not sure. It's not Garrett, but is it not Garret ENOUGH?

Meh. At first I was lukewarm about it, but I’m getting excited. He plans on using analytics and he’s bringing in his own folks. First of all, look at 2 fat coaches in the NFL that got a 2nd Chance (Belichick and Reid). Why can’t that happen to McCarthy? Also, even the smallest of changes can change a team (aka, Amari in 2018 or Tannehill on the Titans in 2019). This team is going to look different next year. Not only by roster, but by coaching as well. We may be in for a treat...

With the news fresh in our minds, I thought it would be good to do an initial reaction check with everyone.

As usual, I do not provide an easy-way-out option in the polls.

Either vote or you have no opinion! :D

Good idea with the polls, I like them.

I vote YES!!!!

Anybody that knows me on here knows I have been on the ABG train forever...….Anybody But Garrett...……..So I'm good Big Mike!!!
