Of course but Dak wasn't the plan for the heir apparent . Just a better backup than Moore we might could develop.

Theres always some luck involved . It's certainly about time for us to fall into some but I'm not sure I'd credit it more to any Gurus on our front office .

Pretty sure they'd be the ones getting blamed if Dak didn't turn out this year. It's probably fair to give them the credit, too, now that he has.

A lot of people did a lot of work getting the guy ready this season. And luck is a factor with every draft pick that turns out.

I was thinking today, that with the success we are having especially offensively, would Linehan be the hot assistant to go after this offseason?

Linehan was 11-25 as a head coach. I'm not sure coordinating a powerhouse offense is enough to ever earn him another shot. Maybe if he was taking mincemeat and turning it into prime rib, but not considering the parts Dallas has on offense.

You'd think he has a pretty good stable gig. Young nucleus of top talent and a great place with a very generous owner. The new practice facility cost more than Commanders stadium. Why would he want to go to a probably pretty crappie team that might get him canned in 2 years?

Yep he's going to get a lot of credit for Dak

he'll be one of the first two coaches to be promoted to HC

Lets bring back Norv Turner and relive the 90's, since we already have the Triplets in place.

Sports Sturm thinks it's a foregone conclusion,,, I hope he's wrong obviously. I wish great coordinators would remain coordinators and build something solid and long-lasting. I'm sure Jerry would have no problem paying the man handsomely.

Linehan is doing a yeoman's job as our OC with timely and very effective play calls but the talent level that he has to work with is exceptional, to be sure. When you combine Dak and Zeke and a talented group of receivers along with our extraordinary OL, it's plain to see that his job is greatly simplified in terms of his chances for success.

Be that as it may, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Linehan were to get a head coaching offer from at least one NFL team at year's end. Hopefully, Jerry might see fit to compensate him handsomely to stay put and avoid having another OC to get familiarized with some of our talent that he's relatively unfamiliar with.

After all is said and done, it wouldn't be the first time Jerry saw fit to do so. Just ask Jason Garrett for any example he might be willing to offer if any doubts arise concerning that idea. It's a well-known fact that he's had some personal experience of his own in that regard. ;)

Lineham and JG would both be getting fired after this season if Dak had not been drafted when Tony went down. Pretty sure all the NFL staff know that.

Unlikely, although Dak has made him look like a genius. Romo would change the play at the line of scrimmage all the time. This vs That ? Give me Dak and Linehan vs Romo's decision/idea !

Don't know don't care. As long as we have an experienced playcallers not named Jason Garrett than I'm fine with someone else. I can't see him getting a job. Surely other teams would realize they simply don't have our players to do what we do and nobody is going to sit and wait through a "process" like Jerry Jones did.

Waiting for the process ended up working for Jerry.....

yes. I would put it at this (likelihood they leave):
Linehan 90%
McClay 80%

When cowboys have good year its very difficult to retain staff because they are on national TV almost every week and they generate so much attention. But honestly, if Dak is who we think he is then doesn't really matter because they will be contender for while.

I know this is 100% a fans perspective, but I would decline a head-coaching job if I was him. Why would he do it? He's failed miserably before and is one of the highest-paid coordinators in the league right now. He's part of a good thing that could potentially turn into a dynasty. I would ring chase and stay.

If he stays and we manage to pull off a few Super Bowl's, he'll go down as one of the best coordinators ever. What he's done for this team thus far is magical.

Before you call me crazy, remember Will McClay has turned down some GM offeres to stay.

I don't see either going anywhere....Stephen and McClay may already have an agreement in place to be the GM of the future
