Do you think Linehan could be gone

OC's like Linehan are not that rare. To be frank, yeah he is doing ok this year, but I thought he was totally pathetic last year. He knew the strengths and weaknesses of those QB's and did nothing with them.

My bigger fear would be JG taking over the play calling again if he would leave.

I was thinking today, that with the success we are having especially offensively, would Linehan be the hot assistant to go after this offseason?

I wouldn't hire Linehan until he replicates the current success over a period of a few years, especially after last year which is still too fresh in my mind.

All joking to the side, man I hope not! He has been masterful this year calling plays and he's doing it with two rookies leading the way.

I think Dak and Zeke bring a swagger to this team that is beginning to exceed 2014. Teams were stacking the box with 8-9 defenders since game 1 to slow down Zeke...now they spying and heavily blitzing Dak. And they still can't stop us. Compared to 2014:

2016 - 2014
28.7ppg - 29.2ppg
407ypg - 383ypg (total ypg)
157ypg - 147ypg (rushing)
250ypg - 236ypg (passing)
85.8 - 81.5 (Total QBR)

These numbers have Linehan written all over them. I surely hope he stays.

Of course but Dak wasn't the plan for the heir apparent . Just a better backup than Moore we might could develop.

Theres always some luck involved . It's certainly about time for us to fall into some but I'm not sure I'd credit it more to any Gurus on our front office .
It's a view expressed on this board many times that I find puzzling. When did luck become unacceptable in the world
of sports? We see it all the time with good teams.Thank god .I know you acknowledged that also.
I guess we cant acknowledge the record of Belichick as a Guru because they had their QB and drafted Brady in the 6th or 7th round
because they were looking for a good back up also. Same thing. They got lucky and Belichick is viewed as a guru.
I dont know that Linhand is a guru but I think Marinelli is.

We keep all coaches, but possibly 1.....first we do all we can to steal the eagles ST coach. If we do, then we cut ties with ours.

Linehan is as good as gone. Any team in the league would be lucky to have him, provided they also build the best line in the league and draft the best running back. Easy peasy

Linehan seems like the same category as Marinelli - a great coordinator that may not be a great Head Coach. For guys like that, Jerry pays top dollar and makes the job a great place to be, so there is a lot less of a chance guys like that leave Dallas.
I worry more about our OL, WR and RB oaches being lost.

Teams are going to be looking for sure.

I think Linehan is safe.

Being a HC is one thing but finding the assistants is entirely different.

he is pretty long in the tooth and has been around some great coaches and players. He is well versed in various offenses and didn't come up via the west coast offensive school which so much of the league is today. I think that is what makes him rare comparitively.

We are going to lose mike pope which sucks but I sure hope we do not lose Scott Linehan. Its a perfect fit for the team and the head coach. Put a west coast guy in here like bill callihan and you see how they bump heads immediately.

Pretty sure they'd be the ones getting blamed if Dak didn't turn out this year. It's probably fair to give them the credit, too, now that he has.

A lot of people did a lot of work getting the guy ready this season. And luck is a factor with every draft pick that turns out.
I'm not sure anyone would have expected Dak to work out especially in Rookie season. I think we would have expected more of another wasted season without Romo.

The criticism would have been not placing a higher priority on finding a better backup or using a higher round pick instead of criticizing our 4th Rd pick not working out.

Luck is a big part of it after the early rounds. About 80% of the starting QB's are found in 1st and 2nd rounds.
