Do you think the game has passed by our Coordinators?

Maybe Rod.

Not Linehan.

Linehan was awesome this year. My biggest complaint is he got too far away from the bread and butter power run.

Let's be honest Rod Marinelli hasn't had any success since he left Tampa. We keep bringing in DC's that have flamed out elsewhere and end up flaming out here. The defense has the same damn issues it's had under the previous DC's. We need to hire some younger coordinators who are more in touch with todays game. The hottest head coaching candidates out there are young coordinators. We're just spinning our wheels trying to recapture past glory with coordinators like Marinelli.

It's really hard to take someone seriously when they don't even know, arguably, the best defense in the NFL a few years ago.

As far as OP, Wade Phillips was a terrible HC. Seemed to do okay as a coordinator.

Yes.Marinellis Scheme requires penetrating DTs which we dont have and more important he doesnt care for,he is basically sabotaging his own Defense by not drafting and not getting Good Dts in the FA.

Our coordinators aren't bad, that being said, there are a lot of young coordinators out there that have been doing a great job as of late. Do you think the game is starting to pass them by. They were a combined 21-63 as head coaches. Not calling for anyone to get fired, just interested in your thoughts.

I don't think so. Defensively we have little talent on the DL this is a major area of need and I felt the defense played beyond the talent that was there. Offensively Dallas ranked 5th in points scored.

Honestly, it'd be hard to find a few teams with less talent on on the DL. Our defense is suffering a ton from bamboozled 2ND rounders

I agree yet I felt Rod got the most out of them. I think guys hustled and busted their butts for Rod and fought hard but this team needs more talent up front. Most us of knew that heading into the season. I commend them for their effort but this team needs help along the DL

The guy doesnt understand time mgmt. Against the Cardinals we lost because time ran out on the FG kicker.... We lost against GB because he spiked the ball instead of calling a TO and gave Aaron Rodgers too much time.

I think we're running schemes that are somewhat dated given the way rules have changed over the last 20 or so years to favor the passing game. Not to say they can't possibly work, obviously they can to some degree, but they may not be the ideal for football in 2017.

Which schemes? Can you be specific?

It was more than a decade ago when Marinelli was part of that great Bucs defense. Get real! What has he done since he left Tampa? We all saw the train wreck the defense was under old man Kiffin who looked like a corpse slumped in the coaches box while he was here. Wade was a good DC but Jerry was stupid enough to hire him as a head coach.

Marinelli needs legit talent up front for him to comfortably run his scheme, which we don't have.

Lenihan is fine. Sure we can nitpick playcalls here and there but overall he's been very effective.

Unless Marinelli retires, I don't see any changes to the coordinators positions.

Whether people like it or not, Linehan gets a lot of credit for Dak's success. He has a contract for next year. He is staying.
You know I'd really like to know whose idea it was to combine Dak's College offense with the option/ misdirection stuff cuz I got a feeling it wasn't lenihan's idea.

I want the offense to become even more exotic I was watching the flea-flicker yesterday I'm thinking how deadly that would be with Zeke
I guess time will tell I just hope we don't go back to his plain old drop back and wait.

As far as rod goes I've never seen a more inept defensive line is that group was through most of the season

hand fighting with the OL is something you're taught not to do in high school for crying out loud.

We went 13-3 and our undermanned defense generally played very well. Hard to gig Marinelli's regular season performance.

Marinelli did a good job this year. He just didn't adapt his gameplan to what Rodgers was doing 2 weeks ago vs. what he was doing 3 months ago. And it was very disappointing to hear Pam Oliver saying the Cowboys were on the sidelines reworking their substitution scheme following the 12 man penalty, after they had an entire week to prepare for GB and how they try to catch teams.

No! We play two games in one. Team and refs. Feast on that!

I couldn't agree more. Our lack of talent has been a huge bottleneck.

Yup. Marinelli told Jerry he didn't want or need any players for his defense. He said, "Enough already." Don't be drafting me anyone!

he specifically didnt want Floyd, who knows what other advice he gave,we have neither drafted DTs high or got top tier DTs in FA since he is here,he is not a freaking magician thats for sure.

They spiked it instead of calling TO? Dallas was not trying to kill the clock they were already in FG range and after picking up a 1st down yes they spike it they were not looking to tie they were looking to get the TD as in playing not the lose. I had no problem at all with Dallas spiking it and trying to get the go ahead TD.

You have to have an incredibly talented roster to pull off what we try to pull off.

Our offense has almost every element you could ask for.

The defense is lacking but they do a solid job. They just let us down against A-Rod.

I've said for years that im ok with our defense as long as we stay away from truly elite QBs and then I worry.

Road to our SB

Rodgers
Ryan
Brady

And there lies our problem Catch. You can't dodge elite QBs on the playoffs.

We can talk all we want about lack of talent but Marinelli's scheme thrived in a different era against different offenses. Time to adapt.
Me personally i want more beef on the Dl like the Giants, have your DTs collapse the pocket and help your DEs and secondary challenge the receivers.I hope he retires,it will best for both sides.
