We all yearn for those teams from the nineties. Lol
We all yearn for those teams from the nineties. Lol
They spiked it instead of calling TO? Dallas was not trying to kill the clock they were already in FG range and after picking up a 1st down yes they spike it they were not looking to tie they were looking to get the TD as in playing not the lose. I had no problem at all with Dallas spiking it and trying to get the go ahead TD.
Yes i did, some of my friends at work were saying that, i was wondering what people on here thought. That's why I asked, i didn't say i agreed.I recall at the beginning of training camp ,this year everybody saying we didn't have a chance because there was no talent on the
defensive side of the ball. I read loads of 8/8 predictions because of this lack of talent. Marinelli coached em up and we finished about
middle of the pack. Coaching is a teaching skill but you asked has the game passed him by?
Well said.Funny both coordinators were getting praises all year and neither had any problems in the first GB game!
My issue is the dude leading them.
Sometimes I do, Garrett trying to recreate a team that won 3 Super Bowls, I was born in 84 and only got to see one SB win. Marinelli seems to have this entire defense willing to run through a brick wall for him, but he's as old school as it gets, maybe this Tampa 2, bend but don't break idea is out of date, I like to think I am wrong, but I'm not sure. I just want us to evolve if this whole thing is played out. This is the only team I ever cared about, sick of the heartbreak.
I'm not qualified to say.
One thing that made my head explode in the playoff game is pulling Zeke off the field in situations where one would think the threat of him getting the ball would have given most plays a better chance of success, even on plays when the ball was never going to Zeke. I though they were trying to emulate the 90's offense and if so, I dont recall Emmitt ever standing on the sidelines in key situations.
Am I crazy to think this way?
I'm not at all sure Marinelli prefers "bend-don't-break."
Give him some personnel and we'd see a lot less bending.
The game has passed by our owner and our coach
The guy doesnt understand time mgmt. Against the Cardinals we lost because time ran out on the FG kicker.... We lost against GB because he spiked the ball instead of calling a TO and gave Aaron Rodgers too much time.
A four man front is also meant to keep someone in the pocket and not allow him to get outside and buy more time. I like that capitulate word. LolI give this post five stars. Most fans here don't even know our actual schemes and know even less about what the rest of the league is doing...what the trends are.
He was forced to capitulate to 3-man rush because our 4-man rush didn't have the talent to apply pressure.
Haha, when I first read your post, I read...Zeke is pulled out to get SOME blow..I did a double take on that one.Zeke is pulled out to get a blow. Sometimes he takes himself out to get some air.
If we are going to talk about modern football...this is an absolute trend that virtually all teams have embraced.
Can you name a team with an every-down running back who runs more than Zeke? No, you can't. There isn't one.
Our short comings on D are much more about talent than coachingI don't think so. Defensively we have little talent on the DL this is a major area of need and I felt the defense played beyond the talent that was there. Offensively Dallas ranked 5th in points scored.
Good pointsthis is a good topic.
so may angles to hit this topic from. where to start?
my gut feeling is these guys/coordinators/coach staff are behind the times. these guys are vintage.
anachronistic.
that's not a bad thing and it can bring them success but it takes a lot of work to roll with the new guard/kids around the block.
(yeh sure modern day elements too, a hybrid patchwork but i remind you of the core of their philosophy. thats what its based on. old school style)
NEEDS TALENT to run. otherwise....... it will always be off.
I like your points! Good stuffGood points
