Do you think we can trade for Crabtree?

Just thinking he's from Texas, probably a big Cowboy fan.

Just saying if he doesn't sign this season, the 49ers can trade his rights when the FA period starts, instead of getting nothing in return for Crabtree re-entering the draft, maybe they can cut their loses and trade Crabtree for a 3rd....

I bet Jerry would give Crabtree top 10 money.

Even though Crab is a primadonna I think he has star status in his future if he goes to the right team.....

No, we won't trade for him. And I don't want him, kid has "loser" tagged all over him. He's destined to be a bust IMO.

I thought the same thing.

Actually, they still have his rights up til the draft, also he cannot workout for any team, because like I said he's still property of Denver until draft day....

If they can trade him the only hurdle will be is another team willing to give in to his demands. That might be a tough one. I don't think he's being very reasonable.

If they would take Carpenter for Crabtree I wouldn't mind.Reality tells me that Crabtree won't make it to Dallas though.

If I were SF, I would trade him to Detroit. That would be hilarious. Detroit "needs" another WR.:) The media would love it.

Last take, I see a lot of people complaining on here that Crabtree and other athletes are selfish or spoiled if they hold out for more money that they feel they deserve. Am I to believe that all of you at your current and past jobs just accept whatver salary or raise that is being offered to you? No one here has felt they were underpaid and asked for more money?

Now think about what you said- If I just came out of college as a Doctor, do you think I can get more money than the top Doctor in America or even be paid as a top 20 Doctor? Heck No....

Crabtree has to accept the pecking order of the draft. he the 2nd WR drafted, therefore he must agree to 2nd WR money.

What happens if he slips to #15 next season, now he's looking at instead of 6 years 20mil with a 16mil SB, he will recieve like 5 years 12 mil, Crab is taking a big financial chance right about now...

I rather use that money to sign Preston from AZ. I think he's unrestricted. He'll be cheaper than Crabtree and is proven.

In Crabtree's defense, thats the fans perspective. Look at it if you were him. EVERYONE else is getting a ton of money..if he has a big injury, he probably won't get paid very well in his 2nd contract. You do have to grab as much money as you can. But, he should not get paid more than the people that were drafted in front of him. Thats how the draft works, the lower you go in the first round, the less you get paid..plain and simple. He's trying to defy that logic.

In a fans perspective, everyone thinks he is greedy, just play football. He would still be making a ton more than MOST of the general population..

He wants more money than his draft position(10th overall) is slotted for. So its hard for me to fill sorry for him. Take the muti-million dollar rookie contract your slotted for and be happy for it. I personally don't want a rookie knucklehead like Crabtree on my team. Hasn't played a down of pro football, but already making contract demands. No thanks.

I know for a fact one reason he is not signing is because he hopes to come to Dallas somehow. The odds are against it, but I also know for a fact the Cowboys had scouts at every game he played at Tech. There is mutual interest.

I think he should sign his deal though.

If you graduated 5th in your class and the guy who graduated 4th in your class was being paid significantly more, you might have a problem with that. It's about what you feel your worth and if you are willing to hold out for that. Most of us can't afford to do that.

You work at your job and since you are a Cowboy fan I know you are a hard worker. The guy next to you is a lowly Commander fan, his work is subpar to yours, and he takes extra sick days. He gets a raise and promotion and you don't. Apparently your boss thinks he's better employee than you. Do you just take it? Crabtree feels (I'm not agreeing with him) that he is a better WR than Heyward-Bey. His Boss (the NFL) didn't agree and Heyward-Bey went higher.

By the way, I think Crabtree is being foolish in this situation. I just think an employee has the right to want more money if he feels he deserves it. If his employer, or another employer agrees, he'll get it. I really like what the NBA has done with their rookies and I'm hoping the NFL does something similar. I want rookies to get in, prove themselves, and earn their next big contract.

That's interesting,I haven't heard that.Maybe a coup is going to happen, something akin to the deal that netted us Dorsett.Ofcoarse i'm not versed well enough in league policy/salary cap/compensation to know if it were truly viable.

Right, but if I was 5th in my class and I was offered the same amount of money as the guy who was 4th, I wouldn't refuse the offer and demand double.

Crabtree's problem is the entire purpose of the draft is pretty much to prevent him from shopping his services around. It's very anti-competitive. Well, he could go to McDonald's or Wal-Mart or Microsoft and try to get $40 million from them, but if he wants to play in the NFL he has to make a deal with the team that holds his rights. He cannot legally negotiate with anyone else (even though he probably has).

I sure hope the Cowboys haven't tampered with him though. Deion says there were "2 teams" and an accusation has been levied against the Jets.

interesting concept, but 2 things against that
first, crabtree is going to want top money as you know
next your either going to have to give up a number 1 or 2 for crabtree
along with that can you afford to pay
roy williams 45 m, miles autin, and crabtree top money?
Maybe I am in the minority here, but I would take Crabtree any day of the week and twice on Sunday before Miles Austin, especially if he wants to play for Dallas like Hostile hinted at above.

next biggest thing, are you sure crabtee fractural injury is completelly healed?
If it isn't healed by now, then surely it will be next season.

Unfortunately for Crabtree, it doesn't work that way when you are drafted in the NFL. The word is "slotting" and it seems Crabtree is having a big problem accepting that is the way it works. He is a idiot.

They have not. I do not know who the 2nd team is though.

But as of now, "slotting" is a technique not the actual rule. I'm 99% sure the Rookie scale will be an actual rule in the next CBA.
