Now think about what you said- If I just came out of college as a Doctor, do you think I can get more money than the top Doctor in America or even be paid as a top 20 Doctor? Heck No....
Crabtree has to accept the pecking order of the draft. he the 2nd WR drafted, therefore he must agree to 2nd WR money.
What happens if he slips to #15 next season, now he's looking at instead of 6 years 20mil with a 16mil SB, he will recieve like 5 years 12 mil, Crab is taking a big financial chance right about now...
If you graduated 5th in your class and the guy who graduated 4th in your class was being paid significantly more, you might have a problem with that. It's about what you feel your worth and if you are willing to hold out for that. Most of us can't afford to do that.
You work at your job and since you are a Cowboy fan I know you are a hard worker. The guy next to you is a lowly Commander fan, his work is subpar to yours, and he takes extra sick days. He gets a raise and promotion and you don't. Apparently your boss thinks he's better employee than you. Do you just take it? Crabtree feels (I'm not agreeing with him) that he is a better WR than Heyward-Bey. His Boss (the NFL) didn't agree and Heyward-Bey went higher.
By the way, I think Crabtree is being foolish in this situation. I just think an employee has the right to want more money if he feels he deserves it. If his employer, or another employer agrees, he'll get it. I really like what the NBA has done with their rookies and I'm hoping the NFL does something similar. I want rookies to get in, prove themselves, and earn their next big contract.
