Just franchise tag him.

Don't even know who the HC will be next year. A new HC might want someone else to start in his system. If that is the case, with the tag another team might give up the picks to take Dak. Unlikely yes, but Dak is young with no injuries and has playoff experience already etc, etc. On the flipside, just letting Dak walk would be a big mistake on many levels. It's a bad decision in terms of no compensation for him, and also makes the organization look bad regarding FA's especially QB's (veteran or undrafted) and their agents when considering Dallas.

to some degree players are like a show dog, or a sporting dog, they are only as good as their trainer has trained them.
I know you dont like dak, and I see his flaws, but I see flaws in all the qb's.
Dak has a horrible HC, a pass happy rookie OC, with little nfl experience, and he has not been "trained " properly, or used correctly and the offense
is not suited to a qb like dak.

If jerry made me HC tomorrow , I would gladly take dak , and probably do way better with him than JG has.
Dak is durable and ok passer and good runner and he tries hard. But he need a good mentor to make him better and a different style offense.

Year 5 coming up next season for Dak how many more years we wasting here bud....

P.S. Our other talents are getting older tick tock tick tock...

If we tag Dak, I think Cooper walks.

Cooper seems like he's going to be a pain in the *** to sign - that's just my gut feeling.

ok lets say for 2020 , you cut dak or trade him, if you can, what then \??
Do you really think the jones boys can draft a elite qb? even if they had a high pick, it is unlikely, and they will have a mid round pick.
And dont say trade up, because they wont and even if they wanted to it might not get a taker.

Dak isnt great, but I just dont see jones boys getting someone better in draft or FA.

also if say you got josh allen , and brought him here to play under JG and Kellen, he would not look near as good as he did today. He would probably look awful.

Did you see Allen's cannon arm?
What you saw yesterday is a future Franchise QB....something Dak is not and never will be....

he looks good now, but last year he didnt.
and it has a lot to do with the coaches, they design the offense around him, not try to squeeze him into a particular type
offense. Part of the game plan each week is for him to run the ball at times, way more than dak.
Dallas does the opposite, and game plan for dak to be in the pocket passing.]
I like him , and this buffalo team.
but he also costs way more than dak, josh made more money in his rookie season than dak has in all 4 years.
and by the time josh is up for new contract, no telling how much he gets, maybe 50 million a year lol.

and like I said if we trade qb's josh's production would get worse and dak's would improve.

How many times are we going to have to say Dak had a bad day today?
Dak is a average-to-good quarterback, but he isn't elite. Elite quarterbacks find a way to win, especially against equal or better teams.
He's in the Alex Smith, Case Keenum, Kirk Cousins category. And that, I'm afraid, is his ceiling.
Having said that, we're stuck. Unless Tua falls in our laps, Dak is our quarterback for the foreseeable future.
He's serviceable. He's a leader, but after four years of professional football, I doubt we see greater improvement. It is extremely difficult to learn accuracy and pocket presence at this point in a quarterback's career.
So given that franchise quarterbacks don't grow on trees, I say franchise him and keep our eyes open.

There's no quarterback in the league that has the "accuracy" that a lot of you require Dak to have. Some of you act like "top 5" QBs never throw awful passes. They throw plenty of them. They also throw a lot of amazing passes too, especially in big moments.

Make him a QB2 change of pace type player like the Saints do with Taysom Hill. We need to get back to our traditional franchise tier 1 QB status like we had throughout the previous generations of greatness.

If we make the playoffs, I would give him a one year contract and see what he can do next year. If no improvement , then yes, time to replace him.

That's a new contract which would be "after the season" above

Polls are not very effective if you provide too many options so it's better to go with few options and lump things together.

When you franchise a player, you give them a one-year contract, so the answer you are looking for is "Maybe, but wait until after the season"
There is a massive difference between a franchise tag and a $150 million multi-year commitment.

this is up to Dak, might want to rethink your demands.. he isn the 40mil guy he thought he was, what he is is at least Wentz/Goff area, you cant ask a starter with better t=success then both of them to take less.. so go back to 32/33 area and give the FO what they are asking and Dallas a team friendly deal on years etc..

if hes sticking to the 35plus RW Rogers type money and short years, I say NO..

id rather FT him and find his replacement, he can be the bridge, cousins him and start the search.....I like him but games like yesterday , really the end of MN game until now where hes sliding..

makes sense , new coach and staff let them decide his fate given one year under a FT and see how it goes..working job interview with new staff and scheme..
