Hey fellas, do yall think a playoff win would save Wade's job this year???

I know the assumption is that if we dont make the playoffs or if we are one-and-done in 2009, that Wade is out the door........no questions asked.

However, what if we make the playoffs and actually win a 1st round game???

Does this automatically save Wade from getting fired or does Jerry still pull the trigger and bring in Shanny or Holmgren or Cowher, ect......

I am not sure myself, Jerry just might keep Wade another year for a playoff win............maybe.

I dont care what forum says, Id want him back if he wins a playoff game.

Not only are we throwing away the progress we made with Wade, but we are going to get our players pilfered by him when he lands another job.

If he is not going to be HC, I defiently want him as DC.

If Wade is fired, we lose both a HC and a DC since Wade does both here. And like you said, Wade would pilfer our defensive players in free agency.

Best scenario......Shanny as HC and Wade as DC.

I think that when Wade came in, he basically understood he had three years...period. I expect him to go after this year, no matter what. Let go because of an underperforming season, or riding out on a Super Bowl victory, and pretty much everything in between.

The only thing that makes me doubt this even a little is the upcoming uncapped year, which could make JJ want to keep the continuity going and sign some guys for a stretch run for the playoffs.

Jerry with no salary cap considerations??

I figure he is -2 or -3 in playoff wins with us. So now. He doesnt stay if he wins ONE playoff game.

Couple that playoff win with a strong December, a team that finishes strong and is clearly on the upward path, and that's a big YES.

Finish with a weak December, lack of discipline, eck out a first round victory, and then implode in round two with poor play, and that's a big NO.

It's as much about the direction, commitment, and style with which the team finishes the season as it is winning/losing the final game.

i agree with this for the most part..... the road there will have to be strong, and if leadership is not lacking with wins by talent alone

That sounds about right to me.

If it is just a wildcard game victory then I would say no it would not save his job.

I think Dallas has to get deep into the playoffs to ensure that Wade gets another season and even that may not guarantee anything. Jerry may even see a Superbowl win as a good time to pass the torch to someone else. You just never know.

Very few coaches ever retire. Firing is something they live with and deal with. Eventually he will get fired. No idea on when it might be, but I was kind of oping after 2008. Not because I dislike him so much as there are available coaches whose jock he couldn't pick up.

Shanahanahanahan, Cowher, and the Walrus easily.

Billick and Gruden, maybe.

But all of them have rings, Wade hasn't won a single playoff game. I'm shocked and awed that Jerry didn't promote Red (not that he deserved one) or go after one of these guys.

No it will not save him.

Its Superbowl or bust for Wade.

Our stars our creeping up on 30 ...... Jerry will want a proven winner to guide them before their skills start to decline.

Wade will never be a head coach again. His head coaching days were really over after his stint with the Bills. Jerry just wanted to have a 3-4 DC that he could lable HC. Wade might be a DC again, but I'm not sure what power he would have in that capacity to dislodge our players.

Wade is entirely unfit to be our HC or anybody else's, but if we do manage to somehow win a playoff game with him, Jerry will be in a big quandary. I'm sure he has someone lined up for 2010, but hiring a new coach after a playoff victory would really paint him into a corner (again) regarding his statements about continuity.

This of course ignores the obvious fact that a halfway decent coach with a modicum of self respect and even the slightest hint of authority, would have steered this talent rich team to at least one SB appearance over his 3 year tenure.

If Shanahan is hired, that would spell the end of the Jason Garrett 'project'. At least Shanny has a need for a DC, which Wade could fill. But Wade isn't going to take a demotion on the same team, even though Jerry and he are friends.

Whoever is available for hire might determine Wade's fate despite any post season W's.

Last year the line was Super Bowl or bust.
This year we are talking about winning A playoff game.
Sounds like regression to me, but i might be wrong.

You bet it'll save his job, but he won't win a playoff game here, it's moot!
