Does anybody besides me think that Burnett was a wasted pick?

I know he has been hurt, but Burnett seems like he was a bad selection in round 2 this year?

has he set the world on fire? No.
But, let us have some patience. If he doesn't do anything next season, we can begin to wonder.

He has made some big plays the last 3-4 weeks especially on special teams. In my opinion he is playing really good right now.

When I read a post like this all I can do is shake me head.

Ask this question again in about 2 or 3 years.

Way too early to call him a bust. Let him get in another training camp and hopefully he has no injuries to slow him up.

So far yes, but he still has a long career ahead of him. By next year he will be a starter and start getting it. Could have used OL but we didnt know at the time how the season would end up.

Obviously he is. You're totally right. How dare he not make an immediate impact. Stupid rookies......

In a similar vein, I don't think there are NEARLY enough Merriman humping threads this week. Boy that fad died quick.

he has great speed, with demarcus ware on one side and burnett on the other, that would cause plenty of pressure on the QB, and could stop the run game to the outsides

I think Burnett is going to get a real shot to be a starting linebacker on this team next season. I don't know if he'll be inside or outside, but I think he's going to be fine. I think he's even been coming along in the last couple of games...

The kid misses part of training camp do to injury and starts the season injured he slowy works himself onto the field and he is a bust. Why does everyone expect every rookie to be an all Pro from day one like he is going to be an expert at Pro-Offense and alignments etc etc.

People way over over react on rookies and young players.

2nd until injuries AL and Dat sat in front of him very solid vets that knew their roles and jobs well and their assignments

I get tired of these arguments with fans; he is a 7th round pick and not starting yet he is the worse player ever arrg :bang2:

There should be a board rule against discussing first year players.

I am disappointed after reading all the training camp hype, however, I have not given up!

Bradie James was thought to be a wasted pick at one point, but since the first Philly game he's been great to excellent.

Here's the deal with Burnett. He's had two injuries (groin and knee), he's going from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and he's switched positions 3 times (started off at ILB, then LOLB, then ROLB).

Typically you'd expect some more production out of a 2nd round LB since LB's typically don't go that high in the draft unless they are expected to start. But, he's still a rookie and quite frankly they need more depth at LB for the future. Hopefully Burnett can stay healthy and improve next year to be the starting ILB alongside James.

Burnett has shown flashes of why he was chosen in the 2nd round. That's the minimum you should expect from high draft choices that are not quarterbacks. The minimum, but still good enough. Hopefully the kid can stay healthy and keep improving.

Andre Gurode on the other hand showed nothing his rookie season despite being totally healthy which led me to believe he was rated too highly by scouts and was really a 4th round talent and not worthy of a day one selection.
