Does anybody else feel the same way about this season and Dak?

While people in here complain, the people who get paid for their football knowledge are talking about an extension for him.:lmao:. He's gonna be the qb for this team for a while longer, don't like it? Stop following. Why do people watch or follow this team keep watching if in your "expert" opinion he can't get it done and you seem to know the outcome of every season as long as he's the qb? Can't wait to see you all complain and whine when he gets his 5 year extension. :lmao2:

I feel like this season is Dak’s last chance to prove he can be a Superbowl winning QB. Time is running out for Prescott. I won’t hate on guy right now despite feeling his play isn’t good enough to represent Cowboy nation but if we don’t win the superbowl I’ll be angry and won’t watch another game until he’s gone!!!
Sure, many people share that unrealistic expectation. It takes WAY more than a QB to get to the SB, much less win if.

Using history as a back drop, MANY QBs That weren’t as good as Dak have won SBs, and many much better than Dak never even made it there. The Broncos didn’t win their last SB because Manning was a stud.

This entire conversation doesn’t matter. Dak isn’t going anywhere unless he regresses so badly that re-signing him would be an obvious mistake to even a 4th grader. That’s not going to happen.

I do t think Dak is going anywhere, but I do wonder how he will do in this offense. I really can’t decide if this is going to help him or hurt him.

On one hand, Dak does well on rollouts and throws where he doesn’t have to do much processing, like his rookie year. He also does well when he’s in a rhythm, and lots of short throws will help with that. In that regard, I think ‘Tex Coast’ will do well.

On the other hand, we’ve all seen wildly inaccurate short yardage throws, or throws with too much velocity because he’s trying to get it out quick. I’m scared we are going to get frustrated watching a perfectly executed screen fail because of a dirt ball or a sailing throw over someone’s head.

West coast to me is like playing conservative in ping pong. Some people go for the kill and some people just take it easy and let the other guy screw up. I just don’t know if Dak has the consistency to do that without it ending in a lot of punts or turnovers. Fingers crossed though.

It's obvious I'm not a big Dak fan, so I look at it another way. Stop expecting Dak to take this team to a SB. It's not going to happen. You can expect that from certain QBs to a point, but Dak isn't one of them. Neither is Jimmy Garoppolo or Jared Goff, but both of them got to a SB regardless. I'd even add Matt Stafford to that list. We have to hope they build a team good enough to go to the SB. This isn't 1992, Dallas isn't going into Philly or San Fran and winning a playoff game. I just don't see it. We need the better team.
Do you really think aikman took us to a SB in 1992?
thats laughsble

I feel like if the Cowboys have another one and done or close to it, you will see the cowboys draft a quarterback very high, but still keep Dak on the roster. Which stinks, because I would like to see those draft picks go to offensive line next year.

The other option is the great veteran who is looking to wind down on another team like Brady, Manning, and this year Rogers. In that case, you cut ends now before you seal the deal with another contract extension. But I don’t think there are any vets like that left? Plus it leaves a bad taste in the mouth with the other players, especially a guy like Dak that was pretty popular in the locker room. Other examples I gave, they were just searching for the leader.

The Cowboys lost because Dak threw 2 INT's....and Pollard got hurt in the 3rd quarter....and the defense couldn't stop the run when they had to......and the Cowboys defense were constantly penalized in critical situations.....and only one WR was getting enough separation
Trust me, his critics are well aware but choose to ignore it. They have attacked him from so many different angles, most of which he's shut down, the playoffs are all that's left.

This offense could backfire with him. He is pretty shaky with short throws and passes which require great touch (think screens).

This team has a tough schedule. I think they represent as a wild card entrant. The defense will take this team as far as it goes.

His last chance? Dak will have to be epically bad for the cowboys to not extend him. There is almost no way they let him walk away without a contract. Mike McCarthy will take the fall if things look bad.
Agreed. Know your pecking order.

Offensive/Defensive coordinator takes the fall first. Head Coach takes the fall second. GM goes next. Then the QB. (unless he's obviously god awful but even then sometimes they wait a while)

In our team's case, we skip the GM fall.

Well I suppose Jerry in his old age has decided to practice patience. Took him 10 years to give up on the turn Jason Garrett into a SB winning coach project and now after 8 seasons he needs to see if his very average QB is somehow going to win a title.

With the Cowboys talking contract extension with Dak, this is a pretty critical season for him. If the team continues to win games with him and he continues to lead us to the playoffs, even if we come up short, the Joneses won’t be looking to replace him anytime soon.
Absolutely right. Ownership isn't going to care if we fall short. The Cowboys are locked in no matter what. If Dak plays like crap this year, what are they going to do? They can't afford to take on a 60M cap hit, or a 60M dead cap. And if they extend him before the season starts, it doesn't matter how he plays this year.

Who in the Jones family gets paid for their football knowledge?

Some of us are fans of the organization because of what they once represented. We believe every position should be filled with the best possible option. We would like to see the organization once again live up to it's heritage. That's why we follow. But you are correct, we are free to stop and it just get's easier every year.
