I feel like this season is Dak’s last chance to prove he can be a Superbowl winning QB. Time is running out for Prescott. I won’t hate on guy right now despite feeling his play isn’t good enough to represent Cowboy nation but if we don’t win the superbowl I’ll be angry and won’t watch another game until he’s gone!!!
so its superbowl or bust...got it!
where have you been for the past 27 years?

It's obvious I'm not a big Dak fan, so I look at it another way. Stop expecting Dak to take this team to a SB. It's not going to happen. You can expect that from certain QBs to a point, but Dak isn't one of them. Neither is Jimmy Garoppolo or Jared Goff, but both of them got to a SB regardless. I'd even add Matt Stafford to that list. We have to hope they build a team good enough to go to the SB. This isn't 1992, Dallas isn't going into Philly or San Fran and winning a playoff game. I just don't see it. We need the better team.
there are about 2 QBs in the league right now that can carry their team to superbowl without a strong team around them. that's about it. everybody else has to build a team strong enough to compete.

I keep reading that Dak lost the two playoff games. He didn't.

There have been 25 times in the playoffs since 2000 where a QB threw 2 INT's and their team still won. There has been 9 playoff games since 2000 where a quarterback threw 3 or more INT's....and his team still won.

Both Roethlisberger and Brady each threw 2 INT's in four playoff games.....and their teams won.

In the 2021 NFC championship game Brady threw 3 INT's in three consecutive drives in the 2nd half, two were in the 4th quarter. His team still won. In 2014 Russel Wilson threw 4 INT's and completed less than half of his passes against the Packers. He was sacked 5 times. The Seahawks still won. Peyton Manning threw 3 INT's in a playoff game against the Chiefs in 2007....His Colts still won.

Dak didn't lose the game because he threw 2 INT's in the 1st half. In fact, the game was tied halfway through the 3rd quarter.

The Cowboys lost because Dak threw 2 INT's....and Pollard got hurt in the 3rd quarter....and the defense couldn't stop the run when they had to......and the Cowboys defense were constantly penalized in critical situations.....and only one WR was getting enough separation.

One season does not make a career. Dak has an historically low INT rate. He is in the top ranks of almost every category.

Barring a devastating injury, Dak has 4-5 years left to play, maybe more. I think he has an excellent chance of being part of a Dallas Cowboys championship team.
Dak is nowhere near the QB's you referenced as Dak is not a QB that can overcome mistakes so try as you will to defend him with excuses that is the fact.

Who in the Jones family gets paid for their football knowledge?

Some of us are fans of the organization because of what they once represented. We believe every position should be filled with the best possible option. We would like to see the organization once again live up to it's heritage. That's why we follow. But you are correct, we are free to stop and it just get's easier every year.
I doubt most of the fans would follow the team if it wasn't for their legacy. The only fun part is watching Jerry look stupid every year but some fans continue to fall for it. This year is going to be different...

What will happen is just what always happens: Dak will make mistakes or stink it up and his defenders will make excuses for him or Dak will get hurt and Jerry will give him another year to 'prove' himself.......Dak is the pair of underwear that has stains and holes in them but Jerry won't replace them because of sentimental reasons.

For the most part, yes. But some QBs help a little more than others. Even if the QB just plays solidly, that's better than having a negative impact.

Do you think Dak would have won with those 90's teams?

That's laughable....

Aikman hated losing. Dak goes home and checks his bank account balance after losses.
Dak fans can’t relate to Aikman.

Dak fans loath habitual winners like Aikman.

Both Dak and McCarthy's futures are riding on this season. If they get off to a poor start, I think anything is possible.
They are implementing a quick pass offense, which is great for Dak. Except defenses are playing us up close because they don't respect any deep middle/sideline balls. It's all going to depend on the OL, solid talent at RB and WR as anybody.

The elephants in the room are Dak, MM, and discipline. Dak has to challenge the defenses (accuracy under pressure)

. MM has to show me more than his last 2 years in GB otherwise Quinn takes over and heads will roll. All we need is a average offense and only 1 turnover per 5 quarters.

all but two need some kind of help. its a matter of what. Hurts needed a top 5 TE. the top WR group in the league, the top 3 defense. the best OL and the top 5 rushing attack. that's quite a lot. the rest are the same. and everyone of them, because they are not elite wil lmake mistakes of one kind or another. that's why they are not elite.

For most owners in this league it's more about money. Winning a championship is nice, but not top priority. If money wasn't an issue, and it was only about championships, QBs like Daniel Jones, Cousins, and a few others wouldn't be getting long term extensions. Yeah, Dak too. That is not to say those QBs can't win with the proper roster around them. Those QBs are paid to keep the team exciting and in the playoffs. If you have an elite QB, you're set. But you can achieve that goal with lesser QBs.

It's like having a choice between two cars, a really nice car at 60k, or a Honda Civic for 60k. You have to get to work, and your only other choice is a bicycle. You have to pay 60k for that Honda if you can't get the really nice car. You have to get to work.

This may sound as if I’m giving Dak a soft bed to land on if the season doesn’t work out, but there are two parts to the equation that will play a sizable role #4’s fortunes.

First is the O-Line, which to me feels precariously thin. We’re one Tyron Smith boo-boo away from playing the shell game, and how the first man up can perform with the starters will be paramount. Heaven forbid a second player (I’ve already penciled-in Tyron for missing significant time) goes down for even a brief stretch. Keep those fingers crossed. But who knows, maybe one of the young guys does step up admirably.

Part deux is Big Mike. The clip board (ipad, MacBook…whatever the hell they’re using) was taken from the man who guided the number one scoring offense in ’21 and followed that up with a number 3 ranking in ’22 and was placed in the meaty palms of a more run centric veteran leader that told a white lie to Mr. Jones regarding watching every snap of the 2019 season. At present, I don’t cheer, or jeer the move as I feel a larger sample size is certainly needed before armchair me can offer an opinion. As a Cowboys fan, I’m certainly in MM’s corner hoping that parting ways with KM was the way to go.

If either of these two question marks go south you can wager, fairly or unfairly, that Dak’s performance will be granted clemency in the eyes of the front office. And, when JJ spins the wheel of “You F’d Up My Season” the arrow will settle squarely between the shoulder blades of one Mr. Mike McCarthy.

Right now – it’s good to be Dak.

Aikman was a game manager. And he was great at it. He was also a leader and competitor.

Feel good about Dak and the team. Cautiously optimistic.

Bye

Seeing as you have 15 posts since January and every single one just trashes Dak I suspect the team won't miss you...

Most people grow up wanting to be Aikman.

The reality is most end up just being Daks.

The majority of people are fine with that, but a small portion are very bitter and jealous about it.

It’s a team game. A few plays in game a can be the difference in a win and loss. When you get to playoffs then teams are even in talent. That’s when coaching makes a difference. There is only 1 brady. Not all qbs can take a team on its back for a whole game. In niners playoff games we had moore calling lousy predictable plays. Now that second pick Dak should have never thrown. That should have been a QB keeper. Or a run play. There was other mistakes made in that game by multiple players. Diggs drops an easy pick 6 and made business decisions in tackling. We reward him with a sweet contract. Dak made his fair share of bad passes. Let’s not harp on ints just yet. It’s not his track record. 2021 he had WRs and only had 10 with 37 TDs. If he has healthy WR this year the number will come down. If we can be balanced we can be deadly.

QBs absolutely can cost games by themselves because other then the centers, they are the only one that handle the ball on every play.
They are also the one player on the field that is required to process what is happening and make quick decisions, in real time, that directly impact the result of the play.
