Does anybody have faith in this coaching staff?

You don't let stars return kicks or punts. At least not very often. It is just to risky.
Pacman is more of a star because of his off the field troubles. Felix is not a star yet. Tiki Barber and Bryan Westbrook returned kicks and punts before they were stars. Maurice Jones-Drew still returns kicks and he's a star. I think Philips is coaching scared in the situation of returners. it's both smart and stupid imo. it's smart because you keep important players out of harm. but it's stupid because those 2 players are your best returners. I hope Pacman is our Primary punt returner like Philips said and I hope Felix atleast returns some kicks occasionally.

Which only proves that you're not the only Cowboys fan in here who really doesn't understand the game of football...

You simply don't show everything you've got in preseason... you don't tip your hand when the games don't count... example-- one of the Metroplex Mediots wrote a coupla days ago (sorry, can't remember which one) that the Boys have yet to use Felix Jones in the games in the same way they've been using him in practice...

But each and every year, this board gets overrun with dilettante football fans like yourself who simply don't understand what PRESEASON is all about...

It's about looking at the guys at the bottom of the 80 man roster, most of whom will never play a down in regular season for the Boys... and it's about keeping your core players healthy for the games that count...

And that's ALL it's about... at this point, we really haven't seen the special teams units that will line up on Opening Day
; at this point, we really haven't seen the blitz packages that they'll be using on Opening Day... what we have seen is a whole lot of marginal players who are about to be looking for jobs...

Like I said, each and every year I've been on these message boards, it's been the same tired crap from the doom and gloomers... and like I said, this Chicken Little epidemic serves one useful purpose, in that it allows us to identify which of our brethren don't understand that game of professional football...

Welcome to that club...

If they only wanted to look at the bottom of the roster why even player the starters?

If devin hester and Josh Cribbs can return kick in the preseson I'm pretty sure whoever we're going to have out here during the regular season can return kicks.

Cribbs got hurt doing it you are not making a very good case there

as for Hester you realize the Bears have had other guys returning kicks and punts dont you? Hester has returned a couple but not doing it full time during preseason like you are saying Felix and pacman should be doing

I never said I wanted them to do it full time. I said I wanted to see him do it. Yea Cribbs got hurt one of the top return mans in the league they still had him doing it. The point i was trying to make is that if other players are willing to rest their highly skilled returners during pre season then we can put Felix back there or Pacman and see what their working with.

Correction: For the benefit of you, I or any non-Dallas coach to evaluate for ourselves during a preseason game.

Phillips has had enough opportunities to see for himself how well Felix and Adam Jones can return kicks within a training camp practice and/or scrimmage type setting.

You do understand that, right?

We'll win 11-13 games again, win a playoff game and probably lose in the championship game to ?. Whomever beats us, will have a coach that can win the big one. Until Wade wins ONE big game he'll have that label: and it's totally justified. Don't shoot the messenger boys...........

Uhhhh, in case you haven't noticed, they DON'T play them much... just enough to get some timing down against guys in different uniforms...

Like I said, you're clueless...

And the clueless brigade grows... guess you haven't been a Cowboys fan long enough to know that right up until the Cowboys won Super Bowl 6, Tom Landry was one of those coaches who "never won the big one"...

At that point, the Boys were known as "Next Year's Champions"... their big losses included the Ice Bowl, and Super Bowl 5... clearly, just because a coach hasn't won "the big one", it doesn't logically follow that he'll NEVER win "the big one"...

You're the kind of football fan that bookies make their living off of...

Its KR which is pretty standard no matter what or who is back there.

I know this already the started still played for 3 quarters last game. All i'm saying if you want to see what the bottom of the barrel talent can do theres no point of putting any of the starters in the game.

Wade and Romo both have that label. Both should be let go in the off season if they don't get over the hump, and it'll be totally justified.

I'm sick of all this being competitive and building the 'smart' way. I'm asserting my alpha-poster status by insisting we win it all now at all costs--starting Thu v. Minny--or I'm going to ***** some more.

I wonder of Romo can return punts? We should probably try it once or twice so we're prepared for the regular season. He's pretty quick.

Wade doesn't exactly exude confidence on the sideline but it could be worse, Campo could be back.

I understand the game very well. I have been in and around this game for 30 years. I am not dumb*** kid. I agree don't show your hand in preseason. There is nothing special about letting a RB take a few snaps with the first team. Is there any difference with him running plays with the 2nd team than the first team? NO SAME PLAYS just different people. You are right..it is about staying healthy in the preseason and getting in football shape. It would be different if Felix had been in the NFL for a few years..He is a rookie. Let him get adjusted to the NFL game speed. Practice isn't like being in a game. He needs to get use to blitzs pick up and pass blocking. He will make mistakes. Would you rather have him make mistakes in a preseason game or regular season game?

"silverbear" should be named "thinskin". Just settle down, I've been a Cowboys fan since Tony Dorsett's rookie year. Your posts in this forum are generally solid, but don't attack me for having an INFORMED opinion. Wade's track record speaks for itself. If I'm wrong at the end of the year I'll gladly admit it. BTW: I've never placed a bet in my life. Too cheap.

Tom landry is a good point... Don't forget knute rockne and fritz pollard I'm sure they had records jus like wade during the turn of the 20th century! why do ppl wanna see a first round draft pick returnin kicks outside of the saints using reggie I can't think of a team who used a 1st rd draft pick on ko returns in the last 20yrs or in the case of some of you 50yrs.

Sorry you don't agree..but there are other people that do agree with me. I don't see why anybody would have faith in this staff or team. Yes on paper the are at the top. Every year for the past 2-3 years Dallas going to the SB..every year we are disappointed. Quit talking SB. Take one game at a time. Play well in December and let it carry over. I rather dallas be 8-8 with a wild card win than 13-3 with a div loss.

It seems they got everybody hopes and expectations up doing the regular season and fell flat on our face in the playoffs. Doesn't that sound like another Dallas Team 2 years ago(MAVS).

I think the one thing this team is missing is the killer instict. Put the other team away early..don't let them hang around.

What else do i want to see..less penalties on Defense mainly on 3rd down how many time has that lead to point for the other team. They are still making the same mistakes this preseaon. Wade better fix it.

I for on never claimed the Cowboys were going to win the Super Bowl the past two seasons. I believed they were too young to get there. They had not played together long enough. I love the coaching improvment I have already seen in pre-season. No football team is perfect and if you are waiting for that, good luck. This season is the first one, baring major injuries that they have a strong chance to get there. Try enjoying what apears to be a very special season for Dallas Cowboys fans.

I agree. I don't know many who felt Dallas was SB bound last year at the start of the season. Clearly as the season progressed the talk was there which should have shown fans how much this team did improve. No doubt the expectation from around the NFL is Dallas is one of the top contenders to make the show this year.

I have faith...

...faith that this stupid thread will die one day. Just not yet.

The regular season hasn't even started and people are already looking for things to go wrong. Should be quite a ride this year.;)

Don't look now, but he DID make a mistake in a preseason game... and don't look again, because they really didn't give Felix many snaps at all... but that couldn't POSSIBLY be by design, and attempt to keep what they have in the way of special packages for him under wraps...

You still miss the point, which is that maybe, just maybe, the Cowboys know what they're doing... maybe, just maybe, they have a carefully planned out approach to preseason, including holding training camp where the weather is cool, so as not to burn their players out... perhaps they believe as an organization that you want to do what you can to keep your key players healthy, ready for the regular season...

But NOOOOOO, you seem to want to assume that they're just a bunch of incompetent putzes who know less about the game than you do...

Excuse me while I laugh sarcastically at that...

So is the only way they will use Felix Jones with the first squad in some special packages? I would like to have seen Felix with the first team and be in the shotgun and stuff. You can still have him in the game and go toss right or toss left or screen left or screen right.
