Now that you’ve spinned it so that it makes you feel better do you feel better. Jeez. Please show ONE poster who refuses to admit the Jones only want to win it there way. Just ONE.
You are such a worthless poster.

IF someone does not exactly agree with you - you make it like you are the only one who matters

Pathetic

Just go and worship the status quo you love so much; or are so afraid to disturb

I believe the term is "our window is closing." In the NFL the window is always closing because between VFA and shorter playing careers, teams and players do not stick around.

We will need to replace Martin in a couple years. Tyron is as likely as not to play to 35 but he is already replaced with Tyler. Steele is young and likely to stick around. He can play. Biadasz is a pro bowler and he can certainly play whether or not you think he is quite pro bowl talent.

Of course we need to continue drafting big men in the first few rounds. We have gotten a lot of production out of the Williams and McGovern picks. Golston and Odighizuwa are a good start.

Best part is that Dakota is going to be here for at least a couple more years. The Dak threads are so wonderful.

It's more that we've hit a personnel wall not a cliff, and that wall is our pick machine QB.

My hunch is this thread wouldn't get posted next month after the draft, when we get juiced up with new youth.

Cowboys still have 7 picks and all the premium ones.
Do you consider picking at 26th premium?
Jerry you lucky fool you.........$$$$$$$.......

If you look around the league, virtually everyone is in a long term state of flux. Everyone is about to hit some cliff of some sort. The only teams that aren't suck so bad that they don't care if the players go away. The rapid turnover of players, salary cap, rookie scale, etc. conspire to make the NFL a very temporary league.

Yep.

Clearly some people do not get it: you cannot win the old way because of FA and the Cap. You cannot take five or so years steadily building a team through the draft and trades.

BUT some here are also satisfied with the status quo and attack anyone threatening it.

They fear so much that they will never take the steps needed to win championships

Which is possibly why the clown show is risk adverse in FA.

Probably better than being satisfied with the status quo because they are making lots of money.

Those claiming Jethro and company want to win refuse to admit they want to ONLY WIN THEIR WAY. Other than that THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED.
Hey, still waiting on ONE person claiming Jethro and company want to win but refuse to admit they want to ONLY WIN THIER WAY. Come on ********ter. Put up or shut up.

Every team in the league is getting older fast.
The average length of a player's career in the NFL is around 3.3 years.
That is not accurate for this discussion.

That average includes players who are not good enough, players who have short careers because they are not good enough. The average player's career of staring quality only players would be around 8-10 years.

I’m loving the solid moves the Cowboys have made this off-season so far, but Im also concerned we are quietly approaching a significant personnel cliff in the next 2 years due to age or guys just not quite worth a new contract (T Smith, Martin, Gilmore, Cooks, Lawrence, our DTs, etc)

They’d have to draft extremely well to cover outgoing personnel while also improving other positions
It is an interesting question but I don't really think it is much different than the past few years.
Tyron has been gone essentially the last 2 years.
DTs have all been rentals for draftees.
Dallas did finally add some veteran help to push for playoff success but this team hasn't even drafted yet.
I'd expect a similar return to last year where 5 guys made rookie impacts of some sort.
Tyler, Sam, DaRon, Jake and Damone.

It's a pretty typical 30% of the roster turnover to me. Year to year.
Dallas been collecting all those comp picks because they do shed guys.

The only guy you list I'd consider a top 10 talent on this team is Martin.
And if anything that just tells me maybe they do go OG in Round 1.

All of those players, despite their age, played every game last year. And Kelce and Johnson are still all pro level producers, Graham had his first ever defensive player of the week last year. Somehow they are all “young” 30s and our 30s players seem a lot older. Might be perception only, but Dallas players seem to age in dog years. Zack Martin is not human so he’s out exception.
Which is why the Eagles exceeded expectations last year.
They got outstanding runs from some aged vets who have battled some injuries but excelled in 2022.
That is a team who is facing a major personnel overhaul.

You have to build 3-5 years before you can even go all in.

You guys look at nothing but 1 years results and swoon rather than using your big boy brains.

Rams, Tampa, Eagles, San Fran. They ALL spent multiple seasons drafting top 10 before going all in.
Rams: They went 10 YEARS without ever hitting 8 wins. On the strength of Donald, Goff, Gurley and Kupp they emerged. Then after 3 good seasons they went all in and got a single SB win before returning to 5 wins the very next year.
Tampa: Went 9 years with a max high of 9 wins before going all in with Brady. Defense and receiving corps was largely home grown through high picks.
San Fran: Spent 5 years below .500 before making a SB with a bunch of high draft picks on that defense. After that SB won only 6 games the next year. Spent last two years playing well in the playoffs but coming up short in NCFCG.
Philly: Gets covered ad nauseum here because so many are short-sided but they were a 4-win team in 2020. Have feasted off draft picks received for RG3 and Wentz but shown zero sustainable success. Have mortgaged future under Hurts by having the leagues most void years before they even pay the guy.

They have a very good, young roster, but like every team they have to eventually replace aging, long-term starters. We already have Tyron's future replacement, they could add another corner/pass rusher to get cheaper in those areas as well. They are actually in very good shape, cap wise.

NO all teams are in constant flux 17% pus turnover each offseason soem much more. i mean ytou may not realize this but im betting without doing research this years been turned over 70% Since 16..

not many left from that team and other generational types have left and more leaving like Zeke. soon 77 but they have payers already taking over Tyler for tyron , Steele for collins, LG they haven't settled, they keep plugging a guy in and seeing how it works...

Smith-73 , Biadsz, Steele all young , martin eventually gone but this year LG addressed with younger players as well that all but Martin that are new , RB being replaced as we speak i bet they draft a RB this draft and next and pollards also gone. Schultz gone Furgy in, cooper gone, Lamb in..

defense nearly fully overhauled in 2 seasons.

not sure what you are seeing see our team in a constant retool and do pretty good job at not hitting bottom for rebuild , YET. When and if the qb is replaced therein lies the challenge and that the issue with fnass wanting dak gone , hes top 10 next 5 guys could be busts and that when teams struggle and why jerry is holding onto Dak for little while longer.. fans dont realize how hard it is to find Romo or Dak and think it will be better without them and umm i saw the challenge from Aikman to Romo.. weve been lucky as fanbase at QB romo to Dak and now fans want to give dak the boot. hes a quality top 10 NFL starter and when he leaves, its possible that when the bottom drops out..

why are we in hurray to hit rock bottom?

Tyrone has already been replaced. Tank is replaceable. The cowboys still have a quality crew without including Tank..

It would be a small chance to improve on Martin, but they have a few years to find a guy who can play

The cowboys are a young team.

Nobody wins it all without doing well in FA. No team has won it all without getting some high priced critical FA's.
For those satisfied with the status quo this is fine.
For those of us wanting more; expecting more it is not far enough
already made your post MOOT

KC let more talent go then they added last year go check they won it all without being all in. Ironic they beat the tam that went all in..using RBBC and WRBC and just playing better ball in the 2nd half.. .

move on with the bad attitude, done like it, move on.. no ones forcing you to be miserable being Cowboys fan., Our Fan base and jerry do not need those that are that upset and the KnowItAll internet GM thinks they can do better is laughable.

status quo ie 27 years most of which the last decade been top 10 in wins daks top 5 in wins. Yes SB is wanted but took KC 51 years, took the eagles 60 and only have one, Bengles never won one but been to 2 separated by 31years.., sorry the all in ram eagles stuff is warped you alls minds..

if its so easy why havent the Bills won one and been longer getting back, Washington how ling has it been , sf may have got to few of late but havent won one longer drought than us.. many teams have been far worse then at least weve been competitive, playoffs 4 out 6 years with dak healthy and one day that playoff run will happen with some good luck vs bad.

We don't have to replace every HOF'er with a HOF'er as long as we have other HOF'ers on the team... but finding a good Guard or run stopping DE is not hard... Armstrong is a canidate now to step in for Tank...
