Hos, I know you are connected. I even read something in 2006, about you on a radio station or something like that ...being interviewed. I know you certainly have met a lot of players and other related NFL associates, and media people.

You may Not be able to talk about it, but I can just imaGine mixing it up with an actual player/coach.:)

I've heard a few players mention something about, I saw on the internet, or message boards about this and that. I have no doubt that players, and possibly a huge amount of them, go to all of forums etc. to get a peak at what's being said about them.

Some of them may even like to see the sigs and avatars to see the art or whatever, but you can't tell me that a millionare with computers all over the house, nothing to really do but get on the internet, that these guys don't check us out.

I'd say ...yes they do check us out.

Well...I know one time I got a PM from a players agent.

Really forgot about that.

I only remembered it because he thought I was talking about the player and I said the person he wanted to contact was Hostile.

So he talked to Hos.

Turns out he told some things to Hos and hos passed it on...only for many to take a dump on hos and call him a liar over the deal.

But that is in the past.

Steven Jones has the money to hire a 16 year old geek to ghost his IP address.

Seattle is to Adam as that Hot Model is to Jeff Garcia.

It's a beard.

You may think I'm kidding, but I remember something like that happening. Wasn't that in 2006? Maybe not.

I don't know that I am any more "connected" than a lot of folks here are. In fact, I know a couple of people here with great sources. The problem with having sources is, people treat you badly if you actually have some and mention it. Instead of appreciating that you share, they think you're trying to get accolades. So most who actually have legit sources don't share. We lost a great member because of this. On top of losing out there I got a PM from a family member of a player who watched how some on this forum treated Pittdawg. He said he would never post here because of it. That troubles me. Pisses me off actually.

In all honesty I feel my greatest connection to the team and information is this forum. We get news faster here than any major outlet. I have had more than one person in the media who reads this forum tell me that they are amazed at how we figure out almost every transaction and angle before they can, and they have sources we don't. No joke, the posters on this forum are extremely well informed and intuitive. There are some media who come here to get scoops. That thrills me.

I do have one source that I horde. I also do not trouble him for info. I just appreciate it when he throws me a bone. I don't get much from him, but when I do, it is someone not to be doubted. He was the one who assured me the Cowboys never tried to make a trade with New England for Ty Law despite someone (who shall remain nameless by me) claiming to be a college buddy of Scott Pioli and getting it directly from him. He also told me about the Cowboys trading for Drew Henson and what we were spending to get him. I shared that with only a few people and when it came out that I had called it the backlash from that was stupid. Thus I don't always share when I do get a scoop.

The funniest example of me having a "connection" will always be the Brandon Everage debacle. I'll never live that one down, and frankly I am glad of that. I've enjoyed the teasing and joking about far more than I enjoyed getting that tip. The craziest part of that whole fiasco was that BrainPaint actually gifted that scoop to me because I had "man love" for Everage. The guy contacted him, not me. I've never been able to figure out whether to cuss him for that or not.

Just a little rant...

I don't get why people with scoops or sources are so thin-skinned. You get yahoos posting things all over the place claiming to have inside information, so it should be expected that you'll be met with skepticism, at least until you've established some level of credibility.

I have so little respect for people with such thin skin. It's the friggin' internet, for cryin' out loud.

Some are yes. I can think of a couple. But once someone proves that they have scoop, it is up to others to shout down the people who question them. There is a major troll potential for "scoop" info though.

Now others with scoop like Pittdawg were just flat out treated disrespectfully. He gave us some great information. But folks just wanted to tell him his son sucked. That was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

I don't get why people without scoops need to treat those who do have them so poorly.

Skepticism I understand, backlash I do not. We had many players who struggled in 2005. But for some reason a bunch of friggin idiots felt it important to weekly bash one player because they knew his father would see it. They had to flex their muscles at "the man." It's still happening too.

Don't pretend I'm being flippant about it either. Show me the same vitiriol and stupidity over Torrin Tucker. That's right you can't.

It's a forum where we hunger for information. When we actually have a chance to have some we piss on those who bring it and then hide behind "it's the Internet?"

Never again. I promise you all that. Never again will that happen here.

OTOH, you got folks who just won't take the tidbit of info FWIW and just say, "cool, hope it's true" or whatever. No, they have to be buttholes about it.

So while some may be thin-skinned about it, I imagine it can be a bit annoying to have something you thought you were sharing as a good thing get tossed in your face and then get hammered repeatedly throughout the thread about it.

There are members that have been on this board for years and never post. And if their first post happens to be a tidbit of info, why should they need board cred if they've been around that long to determine how worthy their info is. They know how this board works...and if the mods put "rumor" in the title of the thread, what's the big deal?

I wasn't referring to the Petitti situation. That's a bit different when it gets personal. Family members are family members, so I can understand that.

As for the vitriol over Torrin Tucker, there wasn't anyone really advocating for keeping Tucker. If they had, they would have been met with the same vitriol, if not more.

I haven't opened a news site in quite some time. I just don't see the point.

I do have one source that I horde. I also do not trouble him for info. I just appreciate it when he throws me a bone. I don't get much from him, but when I do, it is someone not to be doubted. What you just mentioned is why I think people hate hearing about 'scoop.' That guy always had an 'insider' who told him things - half of which never occurred. Same guy who 'reviewed film' and what not. Couch scout.

We have a few of those guys in the board right now, come to think of it.

The funniest example of me having a "connection" will always be the Brandon Everage debacle. I'll never live that one down, and frankly I am glad of that. Annoying, yes, but it should be expected, particularly when there's no credibility behind the poster at all. The recent incident got pretty bad because (1) the guy had been wrong numerous times in teh past, and (2) he was just too arrogant for his own good.
