Does AP want to play for Cowboys?

Here's the thing: our window is now. Romo ain't getting any younger, Ware ain't getting any younger, Witten ain't getting any younger. I say break the bank and try to win a Super Bowl with Peterson will you have the chance.

Dallas isn't one running back away from winning now. It would be nice if that is all they needed.

Actually, I agree, but I still think the next couple of years is our best bet, and then we're in for some rough times.

That is why they can't make things worse by bringing in an expensive running back who will be on the decline.

I love AD, but you can't dump that much money into a RB in this day and age. You need a platoon of fresh, young backs as the game simply moves too fast and too hard to hold up over the long term.

Peterson doesn't have much longer as a premier back, IMO. He turns 29 in the off-season.

There have only been 44 performances in which a 30 year old RB runs more than 1000 yards in a season
There have only been 22 performances in which a 31 year old RB runs more than 1000 yards in a season
There have only been 11 performances in which a 32 year old RB runs more than 1000 yards in a season

His contract probably wouldn't be worth it for any team really.

Adrian Peterson is not the normal running back. Him at 60% is better than 99% of the running backs in their absolute prime. He has no qb, everybody knows he's getting the rock and he plows people over like they're freshmen in highschool. We won't see another rb like him in a long time.

Did you know that Adrian Peterson's lowest YPC came when the Vikings had, far and away, their best passing game with Favre, Rice and Harvin?

He's special. He's already an all time great. And I agree, we probably won't see another like him in a while But at the same time, I don't think he's immune from what other RBs of the past were not immune from either-- time and age.

Especially considering how much physical punishment he dishes out and takes. His game is based mostly on his explosiveness (power, speed, acceleration). Guys like that just don't hold up that long.

Personally, I think he's Dickerson incarnate. Dickerson had his last great season at 29. It's very possible that Adrian Peterson holds up longer, but at the same time I wouldn't be willing to take on his 12MM a year contract for the long haul based on what I've seen from running backs in the past.

Interesting to dream about this for a few seconds in a blurb I found on Footballguys.com (subscription).

RB Adrian Peterson (MIN) said it would be nice to play for a team in his home state of Texas if he doesn't wind up spending his entire career with the Vikings. "You know, I'd be a liar if I said it's something that hasn't crossed my mind before," Peterson said. "But I've also said to myself it would be so amazing to be one of those players who stays with one team his entire career, it would be good if I could do that. But being from Texas, I've always wondered, wow, it would be cool to play in Dallas, to play back home. Or to play in Houston."

He has too much milage on him to give up what it would take to get him and with the Vikings QB situation they aren't letting him go he's their offense.

I bet Longhorn fans are saying "Oh, so now you say that". lol

The irony there was that he dissed Texas and went to OU "to have a better shot at a national title" .Then he never won one as a Sonner while he had to watcth the Longhorns win it in 2005.

I agree, he is on the wrong side of his football career to consider it.

I may be in minority in this, however I believe Peterson has 3 or 4 more great to very good years left, if Dallas wasn't so cap strung I would be definitely for it. Imagine our playaction passing with Romo and a guy like A.D. Peterson in the backfield!

Love AD, BUT... This team has proven even with all the talent in the world we can't consistently kick ***. Romo, Dez, Witten, Miles, Murray and our offense STILL has trouble getting going.
