Does Dak even think about it?

Does he ever once stop to think about how things could have been different if he didn’t let his greed and ego get in the way. Does he ever think, “you know if I didn’t like Brady and Mahomes” I might actually win a title as opposed to be the laughing stock of the league”. Think he has any regrets about his demands to be the highest paid player in history? Or does he just chuckle to himself every time he looks at his bank account?
Dak is having the last laugh. He doesn’t care if he wins a Super Bowl because he got paid. Had he taken a very team friendly deal a Super Bowl would mean much more.

And my point is that keeping and overpaying mediocre people ensures you will never achieve said team.
tell me the non medicore players on defense? one, maaaaayyyybe two barely qualify for being medicore, the rest are below.
tell me how many non medicore players are on offense? Butter finger Lamb. Tyler Smith. end of story.

this team is pretty much medicore and nowhere close to being a superbowl team.

you can thank your "I like to stir things up" and "Cowboys are a soap opera" GM for the state of this team.

even through the 12-5 seasons, this team was full of medicores. we had parsons, Lamb, smith (not considering Martin, because he was hurt often).

I said it before, I say it again. you could have Mahomes on this team and we are not smelling Superbowls. its wishful and desparate thinking of a lot of people here. Mr. "soap Opera" would fully ruin Mahomes and his career in Dallas. nobody succeeds in dallas. its been the story 30 years. in the meantime other teams with medicore to slightly above medicore QBs have made it to the superbowl and won it, like eagles (with two QBs), SF, Rams with Goff, Ravens with Flacco, SF with Kapernick and so on.

Jerry loves all the Dak drama. it gets him attention and TV and Media attention. just look at the Hate Dak Cult on this board. that's all they talk about....JERRY LOVES THEM.
he said that himself, that he likes the drama, he likes that media talks about them. he really doesn't want this team to succeed, as that's not his top priority. being in the media is more important than anything else.

and no, this is not a defense of Dak. this is the state of this team and reality we are in.

He did what any player should do especially Dallas players. If Dak takes less that doesn't guarantee Dallas pays the right guys to build a better team. They don't care about winning so they pay who sells seats. What did they win when Dak was cheap? Whole lotta notta. So why should a player take less. His family is set for generations, and Dallas is still fielding a team.

He didn't do anything wrong. It was our fool of an owner who gave him that absurd deal.

Nobody forced the Cowboys to pay him that much, if they didn’t want to pay him they could have let him go to another team like they did with Parsons.

Your issue seems to be with our GM that thinks Dak is actually worth that much.

Absolutely not. I think the bigger question in this thread is do the players care about winning. I would say no, no they don’t. They want their money and that’s it. They care more about the Salary Bowl than the Super Bowl.

But when the mindset of the whole organization is marketing first, attention second and winning football games third (possibly social media is in the running too), then who can blame them. When in Rome.
Most employees are much more focused on the security of themselves and their family than they are for GlobeCorp or whatever company they work for.

I mean, one of my recent emlployers was in retail. I can tell you I wasn’t particularly motivated to “deliver the fashion forward trends that our customers expect”.

I was motivated to do the best job I could so that I could get promoted.

Do you ever think that no matter how much cap space there is Jethro and Little Anus would still screw it up? They vastly overpaid Diggs. They continually miss on second round draft picks, with few exceptions. Jethro has to be in the center of everything, thus he cannot get a first rate coach because he will not ever be placed in a predicament like with Jimmy where everyone on this planet, including some Tibetan Monks who have never heard of football understand it was Jimmy who built the team and Jethro just signed checks.

And since the advent of the auto-pen, Jethro could delegate that function, which means he has nothing to do with the success of this team except being the owner. But he is at the core of why this franchise is perhaps the most consistent, because they consistently don't succeed because Jethro, and Little Anus meddle where they don't belong because they are not football guys.

Or do you sit around and chuckle to yourself tossing the blame on a paycheck that you have zero control over, ignoring the real problem with this franchise?

My prediction for Dak's career after football.

He will try to get a life in sportscasting. Keeping that baby mama in her jewels will be expensive.

He will never get to the HOF. He might have the stats, but the fans and the sportswriters have throroughly eviscerated him and his performances in clutch games that he won't be ever able to get that monkey off his back.

He will be the poster child for Jerry's flash and dash Cowboys where being in the media was more important than winning football games.

What will be the final nail in the coffin is his peers, Mahomes and Allen, with their contract extensions, ends up winning a SuperBowl after he signed the largest contract for a QB in the history of the league.

It will fuel the narrative, right or wrong, that his contract and perceived greed handcuffed the team into irrelevance.

He will end up in the QB history pile with Deshaun Watson and his contract.

That's my prediction.

No different from Jerry Jones’ “leadership cred”. Jerry is about Jerry. Period. Hard stop.
Never said he wasn't.

Two notable differences:

Nobody outside the Jones family and Rockport defends Jerry or talks about his vaunted leadership. But people constantly talk about what a great "leader" #4 is despite enormous evidence to the contrary

And more importantly, This thread was specifically about Dak.

What the hell is your point, exactly?

No matter what kind of leader Dak his, or any player is, it would never overcome Jerry Jones’ mindless operation of the Cowboys franchise. Criticizing Dak’s leadership is unfair as it can’t be measured in the shadow of Jerry’s ineptitude.

They both can be (rightly) criticized as bad leaders, and should be IMO

Some of you guys are naive to how pro sports works.

Do y’all see NBA players turning down max contracts for the good of the team?

What about MLB or NHL, you see guys taking less for the good of the team?

Brady and Mahomes are outliers, the vast majority of pro athletes in every sport try to get as much money as they can as fast as they can.

Yes, but playing for the Dallas Cowboys and their multitude of boot licking fans is a special honor for a pro athlete. It’s an experience Cowboys fans believe players should pay Jerry for, not the other way around.

You get to have a star on your helmet and, well, everything.

Jerry could win a SB if he knew wth he was doing..

Dak is good enough with the right players around him.. other QB's who were much worse won SB's.

Next season should be FA's and top draft picks all on defence.. defence.. defence.

He has the cap room.. he always does..

I can only put the lack of playoff success down to Jerry is football stupid.

Your “prediction” is silly if you even mention Watson.
