I tend to think not, we have two receivers at TE and a trio in the backfield. Just need to change up playcalling and get them the ball.

No. If the Cowboys can commit to running the ball, it will be a better approach anyway.

Williams is a huge health risk. If he goes down (which is highly probable) we are in trouble. So Yes!

Kevin Ogletree bears watching.
I believe he does.

But will there be enough rooms at the inn?

It looks as if the plan is to carry three quarterbacks and two kickers on the roster, which means we will likely plan on limiting ourselves to five receivers.

Roy Williams, Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd and Isaiah Stanback are projected as the top five.

Ogletree and or any other wideout hoping to make the cut will have to impress to make us go long at the position or see if an injury opens the door.

I still don't understand the Cowboys philosophy of not drafting receivers. In recent history, we've used free agency and trades to acquire wideouts: Glenn, Keyshawn, TO, Roy. The only receivers we've drafted have been mid to low round picks like Crayton, Hurd, Stanback and Austin. I know a receiver takes time to develop, but we need to get a top-rated rookie on the squad so that said development can begin.

Along with the oh so popular Joey Galloway trade.

We did spend a high second on Antonio Bryant in '02, but he grew frustrated playing behind two FOBs and almost smoked his career away before reviving it last season with Tampa Bay.

How could I forget the Galloway trade? Of course, we all want to forget it. And to think, that disastrous transaction took place the same day that Tom Landry died. We should've known it was doomed from the start.

Why? Have you got one you're willing to give up?

There's not alot of options out there so I think we stay with what we have.

I think Williams, Austin, Crayton, Hurd are locks Stanback was Jeff Ireland's pet cat and has shown he can't stay healthy in the two years he's been here so his spot is not guaranteed. If they can cut a 3rd rounder (Marten) after only 1 year, than they can cut Stanback if he doesn't show something.

Hurd offers to much on ST and has a pretty good connection with Romo to be cut.

Either Ogletree or Johnson have a good shot to make it as a 5th WR.

My opinion is no.

I have said this far too many times, but Trent Green passed for over 4,000 yards in three consecutive seasons from 03-05. His number one WR was Eddie Kinnison.

When you have the backs and tight ends that we have, combined with Roy Williams, a great possession slot guy in Crayton, and a potential big play burner in Austin, we are fine where we stand at wide receiver.

We are going to spread the ball around to everyone this upcoming season.

Still think Jerry has an eye on the Matt Jones situation.

I dunno that I trust Hurd or Austin as #1 or #2 receivers. Dunno if I trust Crayton as a #1 if Williams goes down, either.

and a strong commitment to the running game. We have 3 good running backs, if we have to win 17-10 so be it. All this flash with Romo throwing for 300 plus yards doesn't always cut it.

And controlling the line of scrimmage, consistent line play is consistent qb play. :D

Someone posted a thread on near draft day on WR's taken early... it wasn't a good list in regards to draft position vs. value...

You are right, they do take time to develop, but the later round picks seem to develop better than the early round picks...

I don't know where to go in regards to WR's early, but history says many of the best come later...

"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this receiver for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Dumb guy. Not like going down the draft findin' tight ends and running backs. This receiver, smudge your rep. Little drinkin', little druggin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your fans, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and sign him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive for the playoffs, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be under .500 the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this forum. Ten million dollars for me by myself. For that you get the size, the speed, the whole damn thing."
