Does Dallas need a Wide Receiver?

I can't recall the last time a rookie WR came into camp and became a factor for the Cowboys in Season 1...That means that Crayton & RW are the lead receivers...That deafening silence you just heard was Cowboy fans and their jaws dropping...Not sure how this is a good thing going forward.

Crayton is inconsistent as can be and he was the 2nd receiver to TO who got the bulk of coverages...Not sure RW will see the same thing but he never produced like TO did...Plus, weren't there stories and video evidence about how poor a route runner RW was/is?

Cowboys made such a bold move to add RW so that TO had someone to compliment him and now the best WR is gone?...Not sure how that makes the receiver situation ok.

Receiver, to me, remains a big concern

I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of 7 in the box

Do you mean 8 in the box? 7 is the normal

I hope teams put 8 in the box. That'll make it that much easier to check down to Witten, Bennett, or Felix.

I was wandering what eveyone thought about our WR and do u think we need another.

I would have been delighted to take a shot at any three of the WRs that Jacksonville took. I think they got value and have 2 or more players that will be there for years to come. They did it without using high picks.

Mike Thomas: Pac 10 all-time leading receiver
Jarrett Dillard: NCAA all-time touchdown leader at WR

Tory Holt says thoses two look very polished already but obvioulsy will need reps in the new offense--which is what you would expect with guys who have started (and wildly produced) for 3-4 years in college.

Also, they got Tiquan Underwood in the 7th.

I like our group okay, but I would have taken a flier on someone later in the draft--assuming we actually liked him alot.

I think for Dallas to be successful we have to be balanced. We have some very good RB who we need to use but we also have to show the ability to make teams pay as they start bring more players into the box. I think we do have those player and I would include everyone’s favorite Crayton. :laugh2: I also think when teams start bring up the safety that will be the time to try and attack them deep with RW and Austin as the CB will not be getting the help over the top.

I agree, even when TO wasn't having a great game, he still commanded a lot of interest. The current crew will have a much more difficult time getting open IMO. It's also extremely likely that Roy will go down for some part of the season and then Crayton Austin would be out 1-2 or 2-1. :shatfan:

He IS a very good route runner. He's ususally very reliable. But a couple of his misshaps will be hard to forget by many and by running his mouth, he's hurt his cause further. I do think he's a legit #3.

Johnson, Ogletree and Hawkins are just camp bodies IMO. Personally, I'm waiting to see Austin and Stanback finally breakout and for Wilson to beat out Hurd. I don't like Crayton either, but he isn't going anywhere this year.
