Does Garrett survive this scenario?

The offense lacks creative cooking

We are and have been so very predictable on offense. In previous years, defenses knew we were going to throw. This year they knew we're going to run the ball. Believe me, I love running the ball, particularly inside the ten yard line. But, we don't mix it up and try to keep defenses off balance. Where's the play action? Where are the slants? Where are the screens (that have worked when we run them once every three weeks)? We're far too easy to defend for a good defense.

They weren't the exact same type of blitzes but they did blitz us heavily like the Deadskins.

You can have the best ingredients but if the chef is terrible, the food he makes will be terrible.

Who's the chef in this scenario? The HC? The OC? The OL coach? I don't agree that any of those coaches are the problem. I don't think the offense is a problem, overall. I think we have good coaches and a good team and lack talent at key positions on defense.

You can't out execute teams in this league being that basic.

There has to be some dynamics to our passing game instead of hoping and wishing someone makes a play.

When someone can't make that play and you can't dial up anything to beat a blitz or get the ball into a players hands then you lose.

Chip Kelly's put his team in position to make plays today and confused our defense.

For the Cowboys to beat a team we have to impose our will and man handle them because our scheme won't do anything to confuse a defense.

I also don't agree that we're basic. For the most part, we got beat today because their players executed when ours did not. Fletcher Cox played an outstanding game. Meanwhile, we had some miscues that killed us on third downs and put the ball back in the hands of their offense. Defensively, we didn't make tackles or contain well, and their RB absolutely gashed us. But the problem wasn't the scheme on either side of the ball. And the issue wasn't an inability to adapt to Kelly's scheme. We weren't prepared enough, and we didn't execute, and it showed.

HC. I don't think he is a good coach at all. He is to us what Jim Zorn was to the Deadskins.

We can agree to disagree on this topic. I think we've been adding talent to the roster and getting better, and I think we've still got limited talent on defense that needs to be improved.

Tbh, they did run play actions and screens today.

Nobody has a perfect team with talent at every position. Belichick made his money winning by fitting guys into his system. Kelly, likewise, is doing the same.

If Garrett needs to stock every position on the roster with talent to succeed, then we'll be waiting a long time

This is the longest "process" in the history of the world. Kings have burned and rebuilt kingdoms faster than we can rebuild.

Garrett is going to be back next year unless,he is in a coma or dead.

As far as making the playoffs. That ship has sailed.

Agreed.... Defense needs to be improved, Lee back next year will help. Add about 2 to 3 more pieces after that and who knows!

Afraid you're right.

We ran playaction. There were three of four occasions that Romo had all day to throw.

The routes the WRs ran were elementary and we did nothing to adjust for the press that the Eagles were throwing at Bryant. It was almost like they were in disbelief that things were not working. That was the most frustrating part of the whole day.

Your last comment is very accurate. This is not an offense that can adjust and rebound if the other team guessed right on what we were going to do. It is called getting outcoached.

Agreed, in this age of parity and salary cap in the NFL, it is almost impossible to stack at team at every position. That is when you need good solid coaching to get the most out of the players. The last time we saw good solid coaching was in Tuna's first year here when he took Campo's team and made them winners.

That is the best way to describe it.

All in all, the "system" is what makes perennial contenders.

You can go up and down the Patriots roster and it is hardly the kind of talent that you could give to another coach and have the same results.

It is not a lot different from college programs where you shed the entire roster every three-four years. If the program is not good, you are not going to be able to get enough talent to make it sustainable.

9-7 will save him. Not a question in my mind. About the only way you do not see him again is if they lose out, which would be an impressive display of ineptitude that would be hard to ignore.

Most of the Jerry speak this offseason will focus on the fact that they could have made the playoffs were it not for this darn playoff system which allows division winners to get a berth. More man in the mirror talk forthcoming as well.

the pats have tom brady along with belichicks that's why thy win consistently.

Baloney. Brady is a great one, but no QB can will his team to that many wins. Football is the ultimate team gamegame and if you can't credit Belichick for NEs sustained success, then youve got blinders on.
