Does Glymph make Ellis expendable/tradeable?

Is Ellis' current contract longer than he's likely to play? Dallas doesn't have to pay him more even if he is an All-Pro.

In Dallas' scheme does Ellis cover a zone or would he cover the RB with the SS covering the TE?

Good Point.

I feel Greg Ellis is staying, he'll probably get another contract done after the season over, I think if Greg Ellis plays this position real good, he'll be a Cowboy for life.

Glymph he's a good player, but he's not better than Ellis. Only reason why Glymph got that second sack, because no one gave him contact, it was a free road to the quarterback.

Montavious Stanley cause a whole lot of pressure on that play.

Scott Shanle, Ryan Fowler, or never know Greg Ellis might be on that ride to seattle or denver for a player like Ashley Lelie, Deion Branch, or Matt Light.

Possible Trades

Scott Shanle for Troy Brown?
Greg Ellis for Deion Branch?
Ryan Fowler and Terrance Cooper for Troy Brown?
Greg Ellis for Ashley Lelie?

Kenyon Coleman, Scott Shanle, and Drew Henson for Deion Branch and Wesley Britt.

Kenyon Coleman and Greg Ellis and Drew Henson for Deion Branch and Johnathan Sulluvian DT?

There is no way Ashley Lelie is coming to Dallas! (while BP is here)

#1. He wants to be a number 1 WR

#2 He does not want to earn that position and wants it given to him - and we know how BP feels about guys who don't respond to competition!

"If Drew Henson is serious about being the future of the Cowboys franchise his strategy should be obvious: Dye his hair dark brown, wear brown contact lenses and change his name to Drew Ensonelli. Parcells would immediately anoint him as Bledsoe's successor."

That's pretty funny

you don't trade your best pass rusher for potential. GLymph hasn't done squat yet. he played in the 3rd and 4th quarter of a meaningless game. Ellis is a proven commodity. if Ellis doesn't show he can play OLB in the next two games, then a trade to a 4-3 team is imminent, but if he shows he can play you keep the better player. WHY? because you need better players to get better.

Frankly, Ellis is expendable, but it has very little to do with Junior Glymph. It has just as much to do with Spears, Canty, Hatcher, Coleman, Carpenter, Singleton, Burnett, Ayodele, Boiman and Saldi. The Cowboys have a lot of guys fighting for time at DE/OLB. None of them are an upgrade over Ellis, but if we could get value for him, it would improve the team.

I'd be looking at guys like Koppen or Light. I don't a lot of WRs on their roster that I think would have an impact.

No, but I think it makes Singleton dispensable. At some point you have to stick with the youth and let Singleton go.

Ellis is much better than a rookie. BP has stated that the responsibilities of a 3-4 OLB vs a 4-3 DE are very close and Ellis has not had to make much of an adj there. Only the coverage assignments are the main difference.

Singleton played well, I am not sure it would be the smartest move getting rid of him, but I would hate to lose young talent.

Tough choice if you ask me.
