Does Mike get another contract with all the injuries?

Would you re-sign if you were Mike? No authority over player acquisition. No authority over coaching hires. No authority period. Strapped to Dak for the next 3 years, now with another injury to come back from, another year older?
Mike for sure would. This will be his last head coaching job he ever gets. He probably would’ve never got another head coaching job if not for Jerry. I think he’s a good guy and I hope one wants to he continues.

I hope not. But I can def see this giving Jerry a reason to give him a 2 year deal. Jerry likes the puppet.

Curious of the board’s thoughts on this. With all the injuries on defense, and now with Dak does he get a reprieve? Throw in the fact they didn’t fill the losses in FA.

Think like Jerry. Not like a normal person. What does he do?
Zero chance.

He's only here this year because Jerry is too freaking cheap to fire him and have to pay him for a year and then a new coach.

I think MM will be retained; Jerry will rationalize the injuries and Dak’s time on IR as reasons for their losing record, not a lack of talent in conjunction with poor scheme and execution. And as another poster alluded to, MM certainly has his flaws with regards to coaching and scheme, but Jerry did him no favors from a personnel standpoint.
Let’s be honest, Dallas is not the marquis franchise it once was; I don’t think top coaches and players want to play in Dallas due to Jerry’s carnival atmosphere…as ex-players have testified.
This just be the beginning of the end for Dallas with Jerry and Dak going down with the franchise and rightfully so.

Wade got fired during the season despite Romo being out for the season. The Cowboys looked like crap before the injuries. They had everyone but Bland against the Saints and still got their doors blown off. The Saints haven’t won a game since they beat us. Don’t you know they would love to play the Cowboys again just to get another win. Lol

The injuries aren't even the greatest issue, it's the relentless interference in football operations by Jerry.

Jerry interferes in gameplanning, player personnel decisions, playcalling, disciplinary actions and media communications. McCarthy's role is seen by Jerry Jones as a mere employee filling a position, always subject to his final say.

Keep him, fire him. In the end, it makes no difference.

McCarthy was pretty much a failure. He was brought here because the Joneses felt with him having a SB win he could get the team over the hump. That didn’t come close to happening. We won more playoff games with Garrett. McCarthy will be leaving here with the team a wreck. Certainly not all his fault. Most of it falls on the poor management of the Joneses.

Nice post. I kind of think so as well. I actually think Stephen is the one that talked Mike into Jerry. I can also see the dreaded word “continuity” brought up for keeping him. “Dak is comfortable in this offense now….”……

Jerry is liable to sign Mike to another deal but I would not .Mike seems to be a nice guy , but he is not a great coach.

I wouldn’t rule out McCarthy returning. Jerry may not be able to find a more justifiable puppet.

Jerry’s off-season words were: “I truly people are at their best when their back is to the wall” while ignoring the lame duck staff thing, which is not considered at all good in pro sports…in lieu of his own ideas on how things generally work, similar to how no owner acts as GM etc.

It’s like….‘it’s not a matter of if this works or not, it’s what I think, and I’m the boss.’

He thinks the world is all about him and acts afool when others don’t agree.

The first person who should be removed immediately would be Jerry, but we all know that is not going to happen.

He should have fired after the GB game. But, Jerry is pretty lazy these days. He may not want to make the effort required to find a new coach.
