Curious of the board’s thoughts on this. With all the injuries on defense, and now with Dak does he get a reprieve? Throw in the fact they didn’t fill the losses in FA.

Think like Jerry. Not like a normal person. What does he do?
I doubt it…

If he still had a year left on his deal, then maybe. But since this is the last year, I don’t see it

I think Big Mike is looking forward to retirement.
Ride out these next 10 games and never be heard from or seen again.

Jerry let's Mike find work elsewhere. Jerry wanted Mike out when he found out McCarthy didn't really watch all the games in the barn.

He does not, but with Jerry making the decision, I have no confidence in the call.

Zero doubt Mike was set up to fail. Everyone in the league could see we lost much more talent then we added. Hard to win given that situation.

Mike doesn't seem to have brought anything new scheme wise. Seems like every defense knows what we are going to do pre snap and that only works when you have superior talent.

We had our shots the last 2 years and choked. Choking normally falls on coaches shoulders. Someone's head has to to lopped off.Its the American way.

With Jerry, you can never, ever be 100% certain of what he's going to do.

How many times did you expect Jerry to do something with certainty only to shrug your shoulders and scratch your head when he doesn't do it?

Remember... he didn't get to own the most valuable football team in the world by being stupid.

God, its hard to say that with a straight face...

Aven, you are 100% correct that when considering a HC for the Cowboys, it is a waste of time to think our owner ever hires a HC based on who gives us the best chance to win or thinks like a normal football mind.

In the 35 years Jerry has owned the team, he has hired 8 head coaches. Honestly IMO, only 3 of them - Jimmy, Parcells and maybe McCarthy - were the kind of coaches another franchise would hire. Think of Gailey, Campo, Wade, and Garrett. Those guys were truly coaches no other owner was interested in after their time here.

What is Jerry’s criteria for all his head coaches? Here is the criteria in order of importance:
  1. Most important to JJ is this question: Will this guy let me be free to do whatever I want? THE most important criteria to Jerry is his own personal comfort, not who gives us the best chance to win.
  2. His hire at HC cannot be a media darling regardless of coaching talent.
I say there’s a chance Big Mac is back next year because our owner HATES to hire a new HC because it threatens his ability to be comfortable to meddle.

If I'm Mike I want out! Nothing good can happen while Dak is still here. He has regressed and nobody likes him.

Nothing was going to save McCarthy's job this year short of a Super Bowl appearance.

The only reason he wasn't fired outright was that firstly, Jerry didn't want the embarrassment of firing a man after three 12-5 seasons, and secondly Jerry deluded himself into believing that if he pushed McCarthy there was a chance he could do it with this roster.
I highly doubt that you're going a little bit too far I mean he's for sure 99% gone but if he turns this around and it ends up with AI don't know 9-8 record it ends up somehow getting a wall card after this mess somehow gets in the playoffs...

I don't know that 1% is going to make Jerry think at least for a minute that after all the garbage and all the injuries and everything that's happened this year, and somehow you don't think a nine and eight record you know the team that did that last year with the Green Bay Packers isn't that what they finished ?? and then they get in the playoffs late with a late run at the beginning of the season what was the narrative?? that Jordan love wasn't the guy that they were playing like garbage they were going to have to look for another quarterback, all this stuff is happening, and all of a sudden they're the talk of the town and they blew the wheels off the Dallas Cowboys with a nine and eight record...

that's all it probably would take to have a second thought from Jerry Jones they don't need a damn Super Bowl we're talking about turning around an absolute horrible season just to get a winning record alone would put that thought in jerry's head...

It's possible and cannot be ruled out. A 9-8 record might be enough. You just don't know with Jerry.

A losing record and I would say 99% chance of being fired.
I agree but that 9-8 record is how the Green Bay Packers turn their season around all the same there it is they were having all the same problems and somehow they turn that season around last year...

that would be an epic turn around to finish with a winning record hell and get a wild card possibly ??

there's a lot of football left to play that's the problem we do have a lot of players coming back on defense the next two weeks.. And I believe Brandon cooks next week... I mean we're getting people back you never know...
The problem for fans though is we're gonna find that a big problem for the draft we're slipping down the draft we're ruining the opportunity to get a top ten pick but you know what I'm one of those diehard fans that do not want to tank... I'd rather win games I do not want to lose to Washington new york or the eagles and i don't believe we're going to lose to carolina..
I still only see six wins in this team but if somehow they rally around Cooper rush with the defense getting better if this damn coaching staff sees the writing on the wall and switches around the offensive line a little bit to get Terrence Steele off the field maybe as our swing tackle instead moving guyton to right tackle and then doing what we did when Guyton was out and put Tyler Smith at left tackle run the damn ball 25 to 30 times every game with Rico being your head man...
you never know if they decide they finally want to wake up and rally you never know in this league plus the people were going to be facing they may have injuries they may end up getting bad we don't know what's happening the rest of this year there's far too much football left to be talking about high draft picks and who's being fired I know it feels like it's over but there's been some crazy turnarounds in the NFL....

I mean having the New York Giants with Eli Manning 2 times being the wild card and not looking like a team that was gonna win anything beat the New England Patriots in the Super bowl?

McCarthy had a competitive team for three years - and couldn’t outperform his predecessors. I don’t care for his scheme or his play calling. AND he doesn’t seem to make quality in-game adjustments. He’s a good coach - not. REALLY GOOD coach. Move on.

Jerry has a plan for HC. I actually wouldn't be shocked even a little if he were to bring in BB. I mean, Jerry has to know he doesn't have much time left. If he wants any chance whatsoever to vie for one more big one, a viable HC absolutely must be brought in.

Spot on. As I stated, “think like Jerry”. How can anyone forget year after year of the JG era, and we all hoped and prayed that Jerry would end it and finally 10 years later he didn’t even fire him. Remember him still having an office in January? It’s almost like he received a memo from Jerry or something.

By going with your criteria we can scratch Belichek off the list. And while I think some of the new young hot coaches like Ben Johnson etc would be awesome, when I think about them with this franchise I can’t see it working. Jerry would eat these young guys alive IMO. Don’t be surprised if it’s status quo and we bring in maybe a new DC again and a new Oline coach with Solari getting the grace of “retirement”…..
