Does Newman signing mean boot for RW?

With Newman now signed and with a host of really solid corners in camp, does this open the door for the Cowboys to boot RW to the curb after this season. Pacman's deal is etched in incentives to keep him here a few years and Jenkins is a 1st rounder that should be here at least 5 years.

Of course Henry is the wild card but he still has led the team in ints the last few years and is still a very good football player. If we sign Hamlin to a deal and move him to his natural position of SS, can we then move Henry to FS and BOOT RW to the curve.

Sorry if this is another bash RW thread but the deal makes sense.

I think this is a stretch.

Newman is a good player that we needed to extend. Simple as that.

I think it certainly means if there isn't a marked improvement in Roy this year, it'll probably be his last.

The highlighted part is true, regardless if T.New was re-signed or not, IMO.

I think the signing means that we want to hold on to our best players.

Simple as that.

I knew this thread topic was coming. I just didn't know who would post it.

I don't deserve this thread. I haven't done anything near this bad.

The one player the Cowboys still need to take care of is safety Kenny Hamlin. There's been speculation around Valley Ranch that the team might release former first-round pick Roy Williams, but a high-ranking source told me it will never happen.

um...this *is* another bash roy thread. what would resigning our own CB have to do with roys position?

hos, the bash roy threads are now putting on disguises!!!

"hey, the cowboys are charging a lot of money for tickets in the new stadium, does this mean roy will be gone so people will wanna go and pay more?"

i don't and why are you getting defensive? i aSked him a question as to why people come in threads to whine. i knew as soon as i saw that thread he would post whining in it.
Yes, you do. And that's why I pointed out the fact that you do the same thing you're accusing him of doing. And considering I'm not the only one who noticed it, that ought to tell you something.

Outside of that, it's a messageboard. So whine away.

No, but the Barber signing means the end of Roy.

I'm not "in vogue" with bashing Roy but do agree with many that his play is detrimentally below par, and therefore, his criticism is warranted.

Having said that, the Safety position in the NFL has been changing to be more coverage-focused, therefore the CB and S positions in the NFL do have more to do with one another in recent years. Part of Roy Williams’ decline can be explained by the leagues declining use of the "running offense using a FB position" to more uses of the "backfield H-back", "2-TE sets" and "3 or 4 WR sets" offensive formations.

This shift has put in-the-box Safeties, like Roy Williams, less in demand in recent years, and coverage-safeties more in demand. Therefore secondary personnel who can cover will get more play than those who are best known for stopping the run. This can also explain why Dallas has focused more on the CB and FS positions recently (i.e. drafting "Spiderman", acquiring Hamlim, and trying to extend him, and now signing "Packman" and drafting 2 new corners), and has done hardly anything to address the SS position (i.e. letting backups like Keith Davis go without attempting to replace them with other similar options).

Also, I don’t think Roy’s position is in any jeopardy because of this because he does offer Dallas a competitive advantage on downs when opposing offenses are expected to run the ball. So maybe the shift in offensive philosophies, and the decline in Roy Williams’ coverage skills, can greatly justify the decline in his play, but to take the argument so far as to question his value on the roster is unwarranted because he does have strengths to contribute on a limited basis that can make-or-break a play, or a game for that matter.
