Does the Cardinals flat out releasing Deandre Hopkins lessen the blow for what we got for Amari?

No because the Amari trade was reasonable at the time and anyone who thought it was too little had unreasonable expectations.

I don't think they should have traded him, but Amari got what he was worth .
When the idiot GM comes out to the media and says they're pretty much getting rid of Cooper, ofcource a team isn't going to offer you anything for him...Jerry is an idiot

The trade of amari was not a mistake at the time- it was the best they could get and also offload a bad contract on a player that wasn't worth it.

Jerry's mistake was not having a plan to address the wr situation behind lamb
In addition........Jerry and Stephen wanted him gone. Fans forget the clause in his contract guaranteeing his $20M salary a few days after the league's new year. There was no way in hell was going to be on this for that salary and would not agree to a pay cut to make a trade work. They were actually going to release him but Brown who was looking to replace Jarvis Landry, called and offered a 5th. In other words, they were willing to let Coop walk for nothing ......

1 stupid team was willing to take on his contract, the pick was just the cherry on top. They could've unloaded that contract with no pick and it still would've been a win.

Isn't it crazy that Cowboys essentially couldn't get much more than a 5th for Amari and Cardinals can't find any takers for Hopkins? Do you guys still fault the front office for not being able to get much for Amari?
If it gives you the warm fuzzies and helps you sleep better at night I guess you can think of it that way. The Cowboys FO measured against another train wreck of a FO is not a good look to me.

It was never about the deal to Cleveland...it was about how much we gave up to get him from Oakland.

It didn’t bother me...if all we could get was a 5th, that solidified the team getting rid of him.

NFL franchises - along with sports teams at every level - is dynamic.
CONSTANT ACTIVITY \ CHANGE.
That could equate to progress - OR regress - depending on the decision makers = who is in charge.

With a new GM and HC, the Arizona Cardinals are doing a makeover = rebuild -- jettisoning past greats and significant contributors -- to construct a squad ASAP that can compete in the NFC West, as the Rams have bottomed out (after an NFL Title), the 49ers still a legit SB contender, and the Seahawks trying to get back in the mix with the dinosaur Pete Carroll still at the helm.
Hopkins is a "sunk cost abandonment" by the new regime.

The only real debate about the Amari trade should have been about if the Cowboys should have dealt him in the first place. The value they got back made perfect sense. Player contracts matter just as much if not more than the talent of the player involved in the deal. Amari was a positive value player with a negative value contract.
