Does the Mingo trade say anything about the development of Tolbert?

He has produced when he got targets. He can't throw the ball to himself. Currently sitting at 39-451-4.

He is 3rd on the team in receptions and 2nd on the team in yardage and tied for the team lead in TD's.

So yeah, he's totally garbage.
Im glad you agree

Anyone who says they do is beyond ignorant. And incapable of any sort of evaluation.

'Honestly, why do you feel this strange need to throw cheap insults at those who don't agree w/ you?
Sometimes it's called for. Like in this case.

Based on???
Have you watched him play? How many catches does he have this year? Do you see him getting open?

Go back and read his scouting reports. Basically he is a physical specimen that isn’t a very good football player. Now you see him on the Cowboys and that is pretty accurate.

He is young so let’s see but he is a project at best not a compliment to Lamb. Trading a 4 for him was moronic.

He has 10 targets with a backup QB he's never played with before in a new system for him.

Did you expect him to walk in here and be The Playmaker???

Sounds like you had very unreasonable expectations for Mingo. He wasn't expected to do much until next year. I guess you missed that part.

Just like Lance didn’t say anything about Rush, this says nothing about Tolbert. It’s more than likely they both end up in the same stock pile.

If expectations are that low and needs nearly a half season of games plus a full offseason to contribute it probably means he isnt that good though, right? NFL receivers get traded all the time and adapt to their new teams within a week or two.

Is Mingo a developmental project? Sure. Is he good? I need to see more before I look at him as anything more than a big bodied JAG.

Tolbert was our 3rd round pick a few years ago. I'm assuming they feel he hasn't lived up to take over that #2 WR spot opposite of Lamb to help us in the passing game. Does the trade for Mingo say anything about Tolbert, or more about the depth we have in this WR room?? Please give your thoughts
No I don't think so. When CD got hurt, I think Jerry pushed the panic bottom too soon. Please give me your thoughts about my thoughts on your thoughts. :)

As of right now, a terrible trade, imo.

He sure has helped with the run blocking and would have more catches with better throws from the qb.

No not right. He is also playing with a backup QB who had never throw a pass to him ever and a new system.

He has now played 18 games in the NFL. With Andy Dalton, Bryce Young and Cooper Rush as his QB's.

Agree completely that he can be an asset in the run game. Any WR in the league would have more catches with better throws though. The bad throws issue is something that you'll see on his Carolina tape as well. Part of it is he needs to run better routes. Part of his style of play where he is a bigger body that doesnt get great separation so QBs are often throwing him the ball a little conservative to avoid a DB getting hands on it. And yess I'm sure there is also a part where better QB play would help, but that will always be a factor.

In Dallas he has 2 catches on 9 targets. In Carolina he was 12 for 26 and four of those were dump/screen passes behind the LOS. Last year on deep/intermediate routes he was just 7 catches on 36 attempts. He did do a nice job underneath outside the hash marks though. The only thing I'm really seeing him excel at both on tape and in the numbers is running shorter out and comeback routes where he can use his size to box out a defender. For whatever its worth too he seems to run much crisper routes on the left side of the field which may be something to keep an eye on. Outside of that I'm just not seeing anything that he really does well and will need to do a lot of work to improve his game. He really needs to do a better job of playing up to his size on those throws in the middle of the field or improve on running those vertical routes and making contested catches down the field. It's really hard to be a one trick WR in this league.

Even with a backup QB a guy can still be expected to run crisp on time routes, beat his man, and put good tape out there. I get he deserves some time, but when I watch his snaps I see very little that he does well. He uses his size very well on short outside and comeback routes which could be something to build on, but he needs to add a lot more to his game to ever be considered more than depth for a team. He seems lost in the middle of the field, and not comfortable getting up field. He doesnt look close to being an NFL starter to me right now. Are you seeing anything different?

means we probably aren't going to pick up his option year..... and go drafting WR in rounds 4 through 7 like we always do

Mingo is another example of Jerry overvaluing what he and his people think about a guy.

They liked Mingo coming out of college. He goes elsewhere and clearly struggles and in Jerry's world, his evaluation is still better than the other teams' and the actual data we know have on Mingo as a NFL WR. They are wrong, he's right.

There is no option year. Only 1st round players get a 5th year option everyone else gets a 4 year contract and that’s it. Next year would be his final year IF he even makes the roster.
