Does this year feel different?

"Feel? Feel? we not talking about the games, but how you feel? Feel? who cares how you feel? Let me know how you feel in Dec after most of the season is over.

I give my negative feed back. You just choose to ignore it.
You and your cronies.
I say a lot of things of substance. Like talking real football. Not hating everything.
That's how I roll. I'm not a but Guyton guy. He has to tools, but there's a reason he hasn't put it together other than age. That said, I want him to do well more than I want to be right. Same for my overall opinion of Schottenheimer, I'd rather be wrong than right.

He will be fine. We knew when he was drafted it would be a rough rookie season for him. For some reason a lot of folks seem to have forgot about all that.

I for one, was not going to get too excited about the upcoming season bc I've been let down so often as we all have. That being said... does this off season seem different... like there is an actual plan? Was Shotty the right pick for HC? Will Klayton Adams really have us moving the ball on the ground... will we set up every play to look the same so the run and the pass keep the defenses honest. Did we really draft a 1-2 punch at RB? Will George P and CD rip up defenses. Have we done enough on the D side of the ball to at least put us in the top half of league and will our O be able to up points as we hope they will?
LOL, This happens every year. NO it's not different. This is just the normal hype that happens before the season starts. Dak says he feels the best he has ever been. Jerry makes a couple of moves, sells some snake oil, and the Boys are Back!!!! By the end of the season it will be back to reality. Rinse and Repeat.

Yes, more hopeless than ever!

I caught on the Jerry's style decades ago.

It's insane to really think something different will happen.

At times the the offseason beginning with free agency, the draft, OTA's, etc. seem more exciting with the new faces and renewed expectancies.

Then realty sinks in.

Hey, even the Curse of the Cubs ended. so...

It feels different in many ways, but I don't think a lot of us are a ready to anoint anything until we see results!! Damn all the talking and hopeism, let's see results, blocking, tackling, effort, physicality
2 months till PS, 3 months till season starts ~!
Are you gonna make it ?? :)

Yes, it feels like they've finally aggressively built a team, especially in the context of what they usually do. That said, alot still has to go right. Their picks need to pan out. Blue needs to be a stud. Guyton and Steele need to turn it around and play well (to me our OT play may be the biggest factor in this season being good or not between being able to run and Dak not getting shook by pressure). DTs and LBs need to stop the run. Diggs and Overshown need to come back healthy. Pickens and Lamb need to gel. Our QB needs to step up and play well in big games and return to form in general because he was off all of last year before he got hurt. Schottenheimer needs to show he can lead this team.

Alot needs to happen, but yes, it feels like there's a small glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, especially compared to the hopelessness we all felt going into last year. But, as always we just have to wait and see before getting our hopes up. I do like that we start with a tough schedule. We'll either come out firing or get shaken out of apathy early enough to do something about it.
That is about how I see it, we just have to see what happens in PS games, and then reg season games.
I am hoping to see many things be different.
If they lose the first game with Phil, but play well and keep it close, I would be happy with that.
I want to see them be innovative, run more and better , and the 2 wr to make passing game better.
I am hoping mafah and blue do good in PS, I need to see them play.

It is more exciting this time, more so than in the last 15 years, dont know how it will turn out,
but I think they will do better than the 7 wins many seem to think.

It's for sure different. The people that cover the team for sure see and feel it.

Dont let yourself get fooled by our FA activities.

We more or less signed a lot of rubbish. Most of them wont even make good backups.

The only "upgrade" at a starting position - if you want to call it that way - may be booker. But only if you compare him to an injured Martin. Besides him the OL will be basically the same. Two inept tackles a medicore center and a very good LG.

RB wise we are worse then last year. WR may be upgraded but then we have nobody who is able to throw them the ball. Not in a way that other teams would see it as a serious threat.

Our TEs are urghs....

On the defensive side we wont have diggs for a good stretch of the season. And dont expect him to be very good when he will finally play again. We picked up a CB who wont start the season and it has to be seen if he is any kind of good. Usually CBs need some time to adjust to the NFL even if they have talent. And we lost lewis, our best CB in 2024. Our safties are what they are. Not good.

Our DL is not improved. We have no DTs to stop the run. We wont be able to rush any kind of passer with this setup and pur DEs arent good either at stopping the run. So thats for what to expect on this side of the ball.

Me i expect the same crap we had to endure the last 10 seasons. Especially at the beginning of the season i dont see how this team will be able to win some games.

I also think we are on the hunt for Archie Manning down the road. We kept our powder dry on Dak. When Arch eventually enters the draft, likely in 2027....We will be ready for the next guy at QB, no doubt. I truly believe the Joneses are going to be wanting to see what he does at Texas this year . I think Shotty has forced the Joneses to have a clear eyed honest view of this team. He might be the first HC since the Tuna was here, that was able to achieve this. At least for a time, it seems things ARE indeed different around here.

I mean, the Bravo eugina spent more time in port at West Palm Beach then it did in st martens so there's that. But once the league meetings wrapped up, they steamed off for Monaco and a three hour tour of the Mediterranean.

I expect more of the same. If they are in contention around mid October I might pay more attention but I doubt it. They are still weak up front along the interior of the d line.

A better off season than we’ve had in several years does not mean that the team is going to deliver significantly better results in the regular season or the post season

So, I can be happy with the off season, enjoy training camp, have fun watching the games while not going crazy and expecting a deep playoff run,

The NFC is nuts this year and the schedule is brutal. I’m expecting 8-9 wins.

No. Doesn't feel different.

Seems the same to me.......... another missed opportunity to really improve the roster in FA where we head into the season with holes that could have been filled by actually not being cheap as hell on the offseason.

My question back to the OP question:
How can a year feel different before it is even started? The start of the actual season and games that will measure this team is 3.5 months away.

Ok, I get it, we are in the first phase of a season known as the off-season. And yes it has been a pretty good off-season overall so far. (I would add that last year’s off-season was unbelievably bad, even a half baked one would seem “great” in comparison) So ok - off-season has been pretty good.

For me, nothing feels “different” until it is different. In other words, let’s see what happens when the games matter.
It is definitely a thread question that should be revisited following the Eagles game. Afterwards, optimists and pessimists alike will have witnessed an example of what players and coaches can actually do as a team. Not anything set in stone yet but what this 2025 team may be capable of.

And 'capable of' does not necessarily mean winning the Super Bowl or going 0-16. It means seeing how the team may perform for the rest of the season. No guarantees. Just a semblance of how well Dallas might do against the remaining good and bad teams to come.
