Doesn't Romo remind you of...

I think we should keep this Romo fellow around.

What's scary is I'm guessing the Cardinals have seen "film" on him, too. :)

Unless they're just too cheap to supply it.

"Romo was pretty accurate with the long pass to TO. Unless hitting TO's hands, while running in stride, isn't accurate enough? Also the TD pass to Crayton today was right on the money."

I am with this guy.

What do you want...sheesh!

Huh?

Quincy wasn't accurate on short passes. One year in college I believe he completed less than 50% of his passes-- that's horrendous.

I don't know where in God's name you pulled that observation from... I really don't.

'Thank you for helping to keep this a BS-free zone.

That was a great play, but that fake spike crap is one of the things that worries the crap out of me.

Good thing Bledsoe never did idiotic things in his 14th year.

On a side note, MBIII reminds me of Emmitt near the goal line,,, the way he darts towards any opening, high or low, so he can get the ball across and SCORE!!!

His ability to avoid the rush and make plays....yes
That's what I saw, his ability to avoid the rush, the way he makes a play out of nothing, but also his release. It's early, of course, but the fact that he reminds me of Staubach is definitely a good thing. :D

Just from the last two games, Romo reminds me a lot of Favre in two ways. First, he seems a little too juiced up at the beginning of the game, and he settles in after a series or two. Second, he has a couple of mannerisms when he is avoiding the rush that resemble Favre's. That's where it ends, though. His arm is no where near Favre's. I do think he's managed the games better than Favre did early in his career.

Reminds me more of Favre.

Romo doesn't scramble as well as Staubach did. But he's good enough to avoid the rush, which is a plus.

I'm excited every week watching the Cowboys now that Romo is starting.

Completes the short passes well and is not very accurate in the long passes.

Your so obvious

do not kid yourself....i like romo's ability but to a 50 yr old who is a huge staubach fan, it aint even close. staubach would have taken off running
on at least 2 of those plays where tony scarmbled a little.
not knocking romo at all!!! but not staubach either.

Poke, I think you are romanticising your Staubach recollections. I saw all his games and he was not always able to avoid rushes or make first downs with his feet. Romo is doing a good job of mimicking Staubach's best attributes, in my estimation.

Reminds me of Montana and Favre.

The way he reads his progressions and gets the ball out there and he uses all of his receivers. And his pocket movement to buy time and the occasional run.

All Montana. And like Montana, he's go the arm to zip the ball in the short and intermediate routes before receivers get zeroed in by the DBs.

The receivers have to like Romo's quick decisions which allows them to get the ball and get turned upfield rather than waiting for the ball with their backs turned to the defense, making them often defenseless to a big hit and diving to get low.

By the 4th QT, those constant hits result in some dropped balls and guys pulling up short of 1st downs anticipating the hit.

Romo delivers the ball so quickly into the route that the DB's are not getting much read on the ball to react.

Again, these are all Joe Montana traits that were devastating during his run.

But..

The one thing I'd like to see more of is using his backs and making them threats, too.

Montana was deadly with hitting his backs out of the backfield and making defenses pay for doubling on his WR's.

If he can continue to get it going..he's going to be difficult to defense.

I think some credit has to also be made to Chris Palmer, the new QB coach. I have to think that he has done something to bring out what we are seeing in Romo.

Whether it's knowing what calls to play or what to tell him in film study..something has changed over the course of last year and this year.

Honestly, Romo was the # 3 QB last year. There was a reason for that.

And now..wow.

I know this might be sacriledge to say, but: to you 30+ year old zoners out there, is it me or does Romo remind you of Staubach? I know it's quite early to make the comparison, but I swear if you made the footage a bit more grainy and put a #12 on his back, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Just my opinion but curious to hear from the rest of you.

He was #2.

Hensen was demoted already.

Not sure Romo would have been ready, but would have liked to have seen him play abit more than zero attempts.
