Dom Capers has been offered a position by the Cowboys as...

Oh, no the ad naseum speculation that once again JJ is doing everything behind his head coach's back, as if any of these Dallas mediots would know.

An inside source tells me that none of these guys really know what they're talking about. Wow. That was so easy.

I find it hilarious how quick people will just throw someone under the but. I thought the defense was a hell of a group this year. Much better then previous years. Even though there were some shortcomings, for the most part, I was pleased with the Defense.

Stewart did okay but thats just not enough. People always keep talking about madden when ridiculous trades are proposed, I think it should translate over to the people who have unreal expectations. The only way that you are the absolute most dominant team on offense, defense and special teams of ALL TIME, is if you are playing madden.

The coaching fell apart down the stretch, yes that even means Garrett too. Naive enough to believe this young team can turn it on and off, just keep the intensity and don't let these young players get complacent down the stretch and we'll be fine.

stasheroo made a good point in another thread about this when he said that we may as well get Capers on board, any 'damage' has already been done at this point...

This according to KTCK...

It would be interesting if he was offered the DC job...

Capers hired Brian Stewart in Houston as an assistant...

Apparently Capers called Stewart to ask him if he had a problem with him becoming DC and Stewart said yes. Dallas brought him in anyway for the interview...

Many think Stewart is in over his head and it would be awkward for him to sit in on meetings with Phillips, Capers and Campo. It seems like it would also be uncomfortable for Phillips in regards to Stewart...

It seems that Jerry is the one doing the hiring which may or may not be fine with Phillips...

Phillips spoke with Campo about WHO he thought would be good as a DB coach and not about a job, then Jerry hired him. Phillips also wanted Solari and Jerry hired Houck (good)... __________________

Wasn't the original statements that were being made was that Stewart wouldn't feel comfortable with Capers working under him?

I couldve sworn thats what I heard on the radio this morning.

Wow, poor Wade. All of his assistants bolt for Miami and Jerry publicly spins it by saying it's an opportunity for Wade to get "his guys". None of the new assistants have any association with Wade, they're all Jason and Jerry's guys, and Wade's guy has to take a demotion.

I don't really know what's so great about Capers. I have a lot of friends in Houston who I respect their football knowledge, and they say Capers makes Dave Campo look like Vince Lombardi.

Houck was the OL Coach in San Diego a few years ago while Wade was there.

Grantham has no ties to anyone in Dallas, not just Wade.

I've heard it both ways now... at least I thought I did, but I could have defective listening skills as my wife always claims...

Consultant would seem more comfortable for everyone involved. It seems to me that Stewart should have no issues with him in that role...

Grantham, Stewart, and Capers were coaches together in Houston. If anything, all of these guys are tied to Wade through Stewart rather than Jerry. Garrett did coach with Capers in Miami, but who would be closer? A defensive HC and his defensive assistant or a DC and an offensive assistant?

And I could care less if Jerry is making these hires or not because he is hiring some damn good coaches.

Congrats Jerry. You are getting real coaches and people still whine.

Valid points.

My question is this. If this is all about setting Garrett up as the defacto HC, who will be his OC? The guy he wanted, Cam Cameron, is no longer available.

Unfortunately, it's what we appear to do as fans...

If it was George Dunham who was making the comments, I trust his opinion and insights 100,000,000X more than anyone on this board.

No one cares, but thanks for telling us we don't matter to you.

You know, I've been meaning to start a thread on this a few days ago.

I really don't care who is doing the hiring. Whether it's JJ, Wade, or a combination of the two after consulting each other (which is my guess).

All I care about is getting the best coaches possible to coach the Cowboys this coming season.

And if JJ is willing to spend $3mm/season on Garrett, $1mm/season on Houck, etc., I'm glad he's not being stingy.

And I really think if Wade had serious problems with any of these hires (i.e., they were unqualified, he couldn't work with them) he'd be man enough to speak up. This entire "whimp" thing that people are inferring with respect to Wade is bogus, IMO.
