This according to KTCK...

It would be interesting if he was offered the DC job...

Capers hired Brian Stewart in Houston as an assistant...

Apparently Capers called Stewart to ask him if he had a problem with him becoming DC and Stewart said yes. Dallas brought him in anyway for the interview...

Many think Stewart is in over his head and it would be awkward for him to sit in on meetings with Phillips, Capers and Campo. It seems like it would also be uncomfortable for Phillips in regards to Stewart...

It seems that Jerry is the one doing the hiring which may or may not be fine with Phillips...

Phillips spoke with Campo about WHO he thought would be good as a DB coach and not about a job, then Jerry hired him. Phillips also wanted Solari and Jerry hired Houck (good)... __________________

If it's DC, you might as well give the HC job to Garrett now.

I applaud Stewart for his honesty.

He handled it like a man instead of letting it manifest and effect everyone on that side of the ball.

It sounds like Capers asked him the question anyways and Stewart gave an honest answer.

If you can't communicate then you got problems and I love the fact they can communicate that honestly with each other.

If we get Capers or not this wasn't a bad thing.

??? Can you 'splain TB

Stewart was the DC in name only last year. Wade Phillips was the one calling the defensive shots.

Fixed it already...

Now the other thing is KTCK is speculating that Phillips has no hand in this...

People that have played for Wade says he is laid back, but firm with players and coaches...

Maybe, just maybe this is a Wade decision. We know Wade wasn't happy overall with the defense this year and maybe he realizes Stewart is in over his head...

Tough for Stewart but that's how life goes. If you don't perform someone else gets brought in that can do the job and Capers can do the job.

Then why wouldn't Stewart be let go immediately so a proper DC search could be done?

Heck, they should have dumped him at halftime of the Giants game after the 40 second drive.

Reeks of too much coincidence that this is all happening *after* it becomes known that Garrett wanted to take Capers to Baltimore. If they really wanted to upgrade earlier, they could have had Capers in town the day after he was let go.

Yeah but can he do the job with Reeves and Roy Williams on the field because if he can't all of you guys will point the blame on him and not the guys who are consistently screwing up.

Reeves won't be on the field next year.

If Capers is as smart as his rep Williams will be on it a lot less.

With the staff we're assembling if we also sign Florence and possibly a WR in the free agency I think we are going to have another great year in 08, even greater than 07! Also, here's to hoping for a draft class as successful as the 07 Giants one.

You will change your tone after Campo has a year of working with Roy again, think back to that awesome rookie season and as TO says "getcha popcorn ready".

So whos on the field more?

Keith? Pat? Please.

In any event, I like stewart simply because I think he relates to players well. Someone posted a video before he was hired in Dallas and it was when he was in SD. Seemed like he knew what he was doing and knew how to get the attention of the guys he was talking to. I'm not a fan of the Commander approach where teams change coaches in and out like they are changing their underwear. I think players and coaches need time to gel.

Roy is what he is.

Wade put in him situations to succeed this year. He didn't give Roy the Parcells treatment and throw in 30 yards down field in a Cover 2.

I dont think Capers could have overcame Reeves bull crap either.

Plus our pass rush was really good this year so give Stewart some credit there.

I like Capers a lot though dont get me wrong but just because we get him doesn't mean Anthony Henry is going to tackle Amani Toomer and not let him go 60 yards for a TD on the 1st drive of a playoff game.

Our players need to step up. Not the coaches.

What else would he say? "Please come here and become the defensive coordinator even though that is MY job"?

I know. It makes no sense otherwise.

First you give Garrett the same money as the HC, then you hire his staff, all the while with Wade still here.

It's a virtual three ring circus at Valley Ranch these days.

Yes. He very easily could have.

Thats when players start forming opinions, then groups, and next thing you know you have a circus.

Stewart cut it off at the head and it can be dealt with differently now.
