Just heard on ch. 5 sports that Don Capers in coming in the next few days to interview for a position on the defensive staff. Word is that he really wants to be here.

What position would he coach? DL?

I wouldn't mind him. I heard the same.

I'd like to have him. Capers is a very good defensive coach. All the good defensive minds we can get on this staff to help get this defense even better is a blessing.

Who is going to complain about this one? Is Jerry meddling again? Does he not trust Wade? Does he want another 3-4 guy so he can fire Wade on the spot and give the team to Garrett? Come on, I know you guys have some ideas...Don't let me down.

Once again, I applaud the Cowboys front office, and Jerry in particular, for doing due diligence and trying to do what is best for the Cowboys. Dom Capers is a very respected defensive coach, and I have no doubt that he would be an asset to this team.

:lmao2:

Love it.

Bach will be here any minute to explain how Jerry is ruining this team by hiring yes men like Dom Capers and Hudson Houck.

Dom Capers Wants Some Of The Cowboys
Look for the Cowboys to speak with Dom Capers about joining their staff.

Capers was fired as the Dolphins defensive coordinator last year, now he wants to joing the Cowboys.

Capers was the head coach in Houston when current Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and defensive line coach Todd Grantham were Texan assistants.

When Jason Garrett was offered the Ravens head coaching job, reports say he wanted to bring Capers with him to Baltimore.

Wade Phillips better get a bulletproof vest.

LMAO! I knew it. I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to start pointing out that guys like Dom were actually guys that Jason wanted on his staff if he took a HC position.

What would he coach? Not the D-Line, we already hired Grantham to do that. My bet would be that he would come in as the linebackers / assistant head coach or something like that. I can't imagine he would simply come in as a linebackers coach.

Cape is a blue-chipper. Wonder why he was available.
Giterdone!

LOL. Didn't take long, did it?

I mean, if you hire these guys, the staff is already in place for Garrett next year. Just connect the dots ;)

I have a lot of respect for Dom Capers and if he comes in and keeps this team from falling apart in the last month of the season like it has done for years, I'll have even greater respect for him. If he can't, he's just another guy who couldn't light a fire under this team. The late season meltdown by this team was the worst ever. They played good ball up to the second half of the Packers game when they turned brown and squishy and just melted for the rest of the year.

I'm too old to waste my time watching that kind of crap.

Umm, the defense didn't fold down the stretch. Actually, the defense was the strongest part of the team the last couple of weeks of the season. With the exception of a horrible series by Jacques Reeves at a really bad time, the defense carried this team after the Detroit game.

+1 ...

So let me get this straight...

We lose Sparano, Bowles, Rogers....

And we maintain Garrett....bring in Houck for OL.

Bring in Grantham for DL.....Dom Capers wants to be here....and Dave Campo is still in the mix.

Say what you want to about Campo....

But if I was an intelligent man, I just might say it looks like ol' Jerruh may have learned a thing or two....and is assembling, once again, a very nice coaching staff.

But can I still rue?

You know, Jerry got crucified for putting together last year's staff, and it ended up being pretty good. Some of us even said so very early.

The funny thing is that Bill Parcells does the same thing this offseason (In fact, several teams have done it.) and it's just fine.

Doesn't it seem like, no matter what, some people just want to find a way to rip Jerry? And that's fine, except I can't figure out why so many of those people after him are Dallas Cowboy fans?

No rue-ing allowed... never...

But you are right... this would be a solid coaching staff...

My only issue is Campo coming back. Several of these guys played for Campo when he was HC here. Can he get due respect coming back as an assistant coach?

I'm not so sure...
