Domestic beer

Try Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Sam Adams...they are domestic and they kick butt in world wide taste tests

The question is, do you have Shiner Bock? We don't get it here in the North East. :bang2: We do however get Negra Modello! :)

I like Negra Modelo sometimes too. Also have a lot of friends that are fans of Shiner.

Funny that the writer would use water downed beer like Corona or universally trashed Red Stripe as examples of good beer....it's all personal taste I guess.
Corona is considered the PBR of mexico....but I'm a sucker and will drink it on a real hot day.

We get Shiner down here in Corpus, but no Yuengling. when I head to the East Coast, I usually get my fix there. Haven't tried Negra, will need to give it a go.

PBR! Pabst is my staple brew, but I love many other domestics....just not the light ones.

Sam Adam's makes several good beers. Yuengling is damn good. Magic Hat, Harpoon, and there are a ton of terrific micro brews in the states. A local brew for me... keep an eye out for Star Hill, its amazing...and gaining in popularity quickly.

It's good stuff. It's a dark beer without the overpowering taste.

We have a BBQ place in Lower Connecticut called The Cookhouse that has Pabst. I go there pretty much just to get a Pabst.

I used to drink Sam Adams, but switched to Sam Adams Light. The taste isn't as overpowering, but is still very good. It's also a light, though I don't exactly know *how light* it is.

It has an acquired taste just for the fact that it has an overpowering flavor. Try Sam Adams Light. I'm sure you will be more pleased with it.

I use to drink MGD and Beck's but recently went back to Michelob Original.

Those two don't taste much alike.

Oh, there's plenty of good domestic beer, most of it is just micro-brew. There are a few large breweries that put out a quality drink though; places like New Belgium in CO and Stone in CA have some tasty beers. In fact, I'd put some of the American micro-brews right up with the best beers from any other country. The major domestics are pretty bad unless your camping or spending a day at the beach though.

That said, college left a soft spot in my heart (or possibly my liver?) for cold, cheap beer on a hot summer day.

Dead on. I'd add Lagunitas, Rogue, Green Flash, Sierra Nevada.... the list of great American beer makers goes on and on. We are truly blessed with some of the best beer makers in the world.

Of the major domestics, I think some are fine when it is hot and they are ice cold. Pabst is fine for that... not that you get much beer taste. It is more like drinking alcohol infused water compared to a solid micro but it is certainly refreshing.

Seriously. Was at a party this weekend and that was all they had... I actually passed up free beer b/c it was just so poor.

No love yet in this thread for Anchor Steam? My favorite, and not just of the domestics.

Steam is a great brewery. True American classic. They have a brewpub in the SF airport. Really makes the long SFO delays much easier to take. They also make an excellent Gin (Junipero) and a great bleu cheese (Maytag).
