Done with T-New

People are bashing TC for asking for an autograph, when they should be concerned with Newman is a willing participant in being on opposing WR's posters. I bet at the end of the year, he gets the autographed by the receiver who burned him.

Would it kill them to make a stop on the other teams last possession of a game?

Yeah, I don't want to go too far out defending them, because they really have unraveled this year. I just don't think they're trash. I think we need help at safety and ILB and Spears back in the lineup, and another starting-quality CB would help. A top-quality DC would also go a long way.

I only saw 4 meaningless catches against Newman today and one of them he got beat terribly on it. And i'm not sure what you're referring to when saying Newman is just standing there. I saw one play where I think Cooper caught a pass and Newman was slow to touch him.

And Jenkins does the same 10 yard off your man coverage Newman does. Its worked for Newman and it hasn't for Jenkins.

Watch the CB's every play again.. Jenk does NOT play that far off as much as Newman does.

As for "4 meaningless catches".. is it meaningless when you give up a 1st down on 3rd and 5 or 2 catches for 25 yards in a row and they end up scoring?

Or last week when he let up a 1st down in front of him on big 3rd downs in the 1st and 3rd quarters and both drives resulted in scores?

Again, just because its zone doesnt mean Newman shouldn't be making plays on guys in his area. He plays like he has about a 2 yard area to defend..

Philly was missing their top two corners and one of their linemen.

We did not take advantage.

No kidding.

One of the limitations with Kitna is that we don't take many shots downfield on the perimeter. That's either his arm strength, or Garrett not trusting our protections to capitalize on the double-moves.

PHI was getting a lot of pressure with their base pass defense tonight, though. They were able to keep us from challenging them deep. And they stopped our screen game with the exception of the one Felix Jones play. They played us really well tonight.

I must have been at a different game, When did newman give less than his best effort?

the guy is playing completely banged up. What did I miss that he did so wrong?

I see a guy fighting through all kinds of stuff and still putting his head in the pile.

Just for covering my own butt, I'll say again that I didn't think he was awful. But he just did nothing special. He has 0 motor and gets blocked by one guy way too often for someone who is supposed to be an elite passrusher.

Maybe he was supposed to keep containment the whole time or something, I don't know. But he just wasn't very disruptive and hasn't been in a long time.

99% of the NFL coaches, players, and fans know Ware is one of the best pass rushers in the league. Maybe hes having a down year this year, but you would have to have a screw loose if you don't think Ware is a great pass rusher.

Newman was following orders by playing off. Clearly, Only a moron would think otherwise.

Our cornerbacks call their own defense, don't you know?

Unfortunately, we have to play so much soft zone because guys like Jenkins and Scandrick get burned in man-to-man.

As usual, Newman spindoctor's Adam and Burm defending that piece of garbage #41. Past 3 games: not one pass defensed vs the Eagles, not one pass defensed vs. the Colts, and a mere one pass defensed vs. the Saints. And major blunders in all three games.

Getting tougher and tougher to defend Terri Newman, ain't it? Your usual excuses just ain't cutting the mustard anymore. Nobody wants to hear that injury crap anymore. Blame it on no pass rush. Blame it on the safeties. Blame it on the coordinator. Blah, blah, blah. Truth is, Newman sucks at both man and zone coverage.

Newman couldn't even cover that speed demon Riley Cooper.

And let me hear your excuse for Newman quitting on the Jackson TD. That's right, your buddy Terri just QUIT on the play. Go ahead, spin that.

Three more games and Newman will finally be gone. Finally!

Cue the poster with the Newman avatar and his old quote from the scouts saying how good Newman and Jenkins are:lmao2:

as usual ninja speaks from his rear end where obviously his brains are located.

Right now, Terri Newman is as good a CB as Brady Quinn is a QB.

You do remember Brady Quinn, don't you, Burm-Boy? And all that Raven OT trade talk before the draft. Talk about speaking out of a certain orifice.

ps You still have those Brady Quinn fathead posters on your bedroom wall? Or did your mom make you take them down?

D Ware was worse and the entire front 7 was worse

This doesn't make sense. Best pass rush we've had in weeks. We gave up a few big runs in the 2nd half that hurt us, but we kep Vick contained (I believe they said it was his season low rushing performance), and we forced him to throw some bad passes.

I wouldn't cut Jenkins, but I'd absolutely consider trading him.. Cutting him would be like cutting your nose to spite your face because somebody would pick him up in a heartbeat and you'd lose out on a good pick.

I wouldn't cut Jenkins eitehr, but i certainly don't think we should view him as a front line player either. We need to upgrade, and that may include Jenkins being demoted to nickle back.

He doesn't really have a lot of trade value right now.

There's no value in trading Jenkins. It's selling at the lowest of lows. He's the worst CB in the NFL this season. You get more value if you can try to somehow "coach him up" with another defensive staff next year.

I really dislike him.

You can always count on him to give up a play when you least need it.

He's payed way too much for what he does.

I always laugh when someone mentions that he is a shut down corner.

Like he ever was.

I honestly think it is just confidence and arrogance. He was so arrogant going into the season and even in the early part of the season he was acting like he could do whatever he wants.

then I think he realized he couldnt and his offseason crappy mentality had eaten him alive and he has lost his confidence.

Hopefully a good solid offseason, a new staff and a tough hard camp will straighten him out.

this season is alot like 04. We went into the season thinking we had this defense that would push people around and next thing you know guys got hurt and the defense lost its confidence and couldnt stop anyone.

The point of emphasis going into the offseason was the defense and they made a huge overhaul.

i think it is time for another overhaul as this group has run its course.

Unfortunately the offensive line is in dire straights and may keep up us from being able to take a safety high or a corner high in the draft.

one good thing is alot of money will be removed this offseason and there are a ton of free agents so holes can be fixed that way, hopefully in a smart manner.

Yea he got beat in the Saints game as well. But my question is, what corner doesn't? Because i've seen Revis get burnt so who is this corner that doesn't get beat? That's a HUGE misconception fans have of cornerbacks. That they never get beat. Or atleast the good ones anyway.

1. Newman gets beat way too often(see: a lot more often than you think)

2. if by "meaningless catches", you mean "catchs caught for 1st downs", I'd accept that.

3. the 10 yard cussion hasn't worked for Newman in a while.

here is my theory. since Newman is playing so poorly, we have to give him more safety help than we should. Therefore, Jenkins gets targetted with no help and can't play as aggressive because he'll get called for some BS PI.

in closing, Newman is terrbile, injuries or not. we need someone fast and aggressive...

Comedy. Off the top of my head I know for fact that Houston's Grover Quin is the worst in the NFL, and I don't even follow the AFC that much let alone the Texans.
