Donnie Edwards (San Diego MLB) voids contract

Count me as a yes, but only for the right money.

That's pretty much how I feel too. If he could come cheap and play a role in the defense and know he isn't the starter, then I'm fine with it.

Otherwise, let him go elsewhere.

During the playoffs I went and read a San Diego message board that was in full meltdown during their playoff loss to the patriots and they were none too happy with Edwards. Apparently, many of their fans during the season had wanted Edwards replaced for most of the year. So, I don't think he played all that well last year for them. Now, a year older Edwards might not be someone that you'd want to spend very much money at all on.

I really don't know because I didn't pay attention to Edwards at all last year... but his own fans didn't think he was doing a good job. If Phillips get him as a free agent you'd have to think that he could still play though.

Let's not forget that at age 34 he still plays at a very high level and can (AHEM) cover a TE running a fly route down the middle like white on rice.

Reggie White was never asked to cover Jerry Rice. I would have been a mismatch. Besides, Jerry was not a TE. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Please enlighten me as to when Edwards did this recently.

Regular season... all 16 games... ranked 6th in the AFC...

I wasn't specifically advocating Edwards, just generalizing about the free agent scenario in general. Good listed comparatives on your part.
