If so, I agree PFF was wrong Heath's score. He made poor decisions on the play but was in a tough situation.

Good to hear about Thompson, but he's a FS, and I'd rather have Heath backing up FS over Thompson. He's also on a one year deal til free agency. He's not a player to invest development time on. No reason not to upgrade from him.

We don't have a single good in the box SS. That's what I would be addressing first with a new signing. Getting an overall SS is better. That frees Heath up for special packages and backing up both starters.

Maybe Wilson will be an ok SS, but I'd rather get a vet who is better.

I reviewed the top 4 pass receptions the the Giants TE.
  • I'm not certain that any of them were the fault of Health.
  • Maybe the 13 yard reception but it was zone coverage and it's impossible to know.
  • It really looked more like it was on a LB but again there is no way to know the exact assignments in zone coverage.
  • Do you realize that just because Health makes the tackle that it does not mean he was at fault on the play?
  • E.Manning pass deep right to E.Engram to DAL 30 for 22 yards.
  • E.Manning pass short right to E.Engram to NYG 44 for 19 yards.
  • E.Manning pass short middle to E.Engram to NYG 25 for 14 yards.
  • E.Manning pass short middle to E.Engram to DAL 38 for 13 yards.

The long run by Barkley was not the fault of Heath; although Heath did make a mistake.
  • Heath was 15 yards from the line when Barkley passed the line untouched and with open field in front expect for Heath.
  • No NFL Safety is going to make that tackle very often and not without some luck.
  • Heath did make a mistake in that he needed to cut off Barkley's path to the outside and funnel him back insider where other defenders were located.
  • Even with a perfect decision by Health, it's still a 30 yard plus gain.

Thompson did start 16 games at FS in 2017 for another team.

I'm not sure how you compare Thompson vs Heath at FS.

Both are free agents after the season. Thompson won't cost much to re-sign unless he becomes a starter this season.

Frazier is good in the box against the run but Kris Richard does not appear to trust him in pass defense; although he did start games 1 and 2 of 2018.

Wilson is the upside player. He played primarily at FS in the preseason but his tackling was good and he is a sturdy player.

I don't see them getting a vet that is an upgrade this season. That would require a trade.

Hopefully Wilson is the real deal at SS but if not they do need to consider drafting a Strong Safety next year.

There were a lot a decent Safeties in the draft but most of them were Free Safety types.

Minkah is the talk of the town. With the same agent as Taco.

And Eric Berry is still out there. Though I think Berry just may not be interested in the money teams are offering. But I could see him getting more interested later in the season for a SB contender. And I suspect that of the contenders, we have the biggest need at S.

Lol go look at all the other runs heath played terribly on. Go watch that some of the pass plays. That 4th and 1 play Eli rolls to the right and heath is engaged on the end the whole time it's hilarious to watch

I've liked Heath at single high FS since 2017. Could always break on straggling free balls, but was starting to get the knack on cutting off WRs for the ball too. I would have gone with him at FS in 2018 and found a SS to pair with him.

Heath could have been a good single high FS.

Heath just generally does nothing. He is late to the game. Usually there 10 yards down the field to jump on the pile.
