Don't be surprised if the Cowboys trade up

In a draft where most of the value can be found in the 2nd round, most people think it would be advantageous to trade down and acquire more 2nd-3rd round picks. The problem is that you need a trade partner willing to trade up, and I just don't see it.

I think the better choice is to trade UP in the first round, because you can move up for much cheaper than years past. I think there are a lot of teams with top 16 picks that would love to trade down for a cheap price. I think this is the way to go if your guy is sitting in the middle of the draft.

I am not saying trading up in this draft is the best scenario. Obviously, it depends on how things work out, but I think we are much more likely to move up than we are to move down.

I would be very surprised.

Dallas only trades up if a guy they love falls.

I don't think they like ANYONE this draft class that much.
Trading up from 27 is tough to do. The team needs it's own picks at 60 and 91 after trading up last year in round 2.

So yes, they are far more likely to trade down as people keep saying.

What Dallas needs to make that work is a faller they are lukewarm on. Maybe a WR or DT.

I think it's very unlikely we trade up. And, if we were to, it'd be because a player fell within range the way Dez did in his draft.

You aren't getting a 2nd and 3rd for TB or or TENN to move back up into the first.

Value-wise you probably get a high 2 and a high 3 for your low 1st and low 4th.

To gain the full effect of that a team would need ot really want someone like Malcom Brown. Randy Gregory or Shane Ray at 27.

Could I see a team in the deep south be willing to pay to move up for Ray out of the SEC? Yes, easily.

If they waste another pic/player by trading up - I'll frickin throw the remote though the TV ! Stop wasting valuable players, we seem to handicap ourselves by giving away pics when we absolutely need as many as we can get !!!

That's interesting. The talk has been of trading back to aquire more picks... but the problem is that it seems that a lot of teams are thinking the same thing this year more than in the past.

So your premise that it will be cheaper to trade up this year is something to consider if there is a player that they really want. I had not thought about that angle, but there may be something they can take advantage of.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. I am not saying 100% this will happen, but it is a possibility, depending on how they have some guys graded. Also, I am saying this is much more likely of a scenario than trading down, because everyone will be trying to trade down.

If they are high on Gurley or Gordon, and one or both fall to somewhere around 13-20, I could definitely see them trying to move up. They would be able to do it at a discount, compared to drafts in the past.

Nobody knows who will be available at 27 this year. You could end up trading up for a player that would make it to 27 anyway. Most years it is much more clear who won't fall but after the top 10 anybody could end up at 27. The drug/character guys have even made it possible for top 10 rated guys a week ago to fall a long way.

Maybe if Gurley is there in the early twenties, but that os the only way I see a trade up.

We better not start pissing away picks again this year................just stay put and draft our board, there will be good players available in the first 3 rounds without trading up.
