Wade Phillips has a 30 year track record and Garrett has 4 games.

Defense is the key to big success in the NFL.

Garrett needs to learn a lot of D from Wade before even thinking about being a head coach.

I think Wade will be ready to call it a career about the same time Jason Garrett is ready to take over the whole team. If he chooses to leave earlier, we will be just fine with Sparano and Phillips. I do hope he sticks around, though. It is looking pretty magical so far.

You guys just don't understand it... there's nothing he can do...

Unless of course you're implying we let go of Wade.

sure...there is plenty he can do. offer more money...have a clear understanding Garrett is the next head coach of Dallas once Wade leaves...which at his age prob wouldnt be that long...though he is doing a good job

when Garrett was hired it was widely thought he was being groomed to be the head coach in Dallas sooner rather than later. Even if another team was interested it doesnt mean he ends up thinking its a better situation that what his future is with Dallas. There is no automatic situation that someone offers and he's gone

people need to tap the breaks all over some mention by Aikman. no reason at this point to act like the guy is out the door already

I think there is already an understanding between him and Jerry he is the next coach. Hell Jerry seriously considered putting him as the head coach just outright this past offseason

I think Garrett will get offers, and I think Garrett will stay. The main team to worry about is the NYFG...

Remember, Jason has been raised since childhood to bleed blue and silver. His dad was one of our superscouts during the Landry glory years and he said leaving here to play for the NYFG was the hardest decision he has ever made...

I think he has the understanding that he takes over this team when Wade steps down...

i hope you're right. we're very fortunate for that type of loyalty if it pans out that way.

That's what Aikman and Buck were saying. We may get to enjoy him for a year. Jerry better pay the man to stay. I'd hate to lose him.

Jerry cut Aikman loose when he couldn't produce the wins any more. Jerry is a pretty good GM, although his track record on quarterbacks took a long time to bear fruit. He isn't going to let this coach get away.

This has really been bothering me (I can't even enjoy a winning streak).

I do think he will get offers and we can only hope that Jerry can talk him into staying and waiting it out until Phillips is through. I'm sure a big, big raise will be in order and that may be enough.

But Cowboy fans can't be so arrogant to think that nobody in their right mind would ever leave the franchise.

Also, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Sparano leave. His work the last two years under two different head coaches and two different systems make him a very good head coachng candidate, IMO.

yea they can and seem to be. : )

we've got a lot of good pieces together and it's going to be hard to keep them together. that's the nature of the game.

I dont think anyone said he could never leave....just that Jerry would do what it takes to keep him. Jerry was super high on the guy before this season even started and interviewed him for the head coaching position even.

Garrett isnt stupid. maybe he does get some offer that is just insane but I doubt he is going to be looking to jump for just anything when coaching the cowboys could be in the near future for him

I love what Dallas has done this year and love his play calling but its a bit early to assume teams come after him with truckloads of money at this point. its been 4 games

Garrett has 2 years as a position coach, 4 games as an OC.

Most GM's are going to want a little more to go on.
