I don't know if this has already been posted but wanted to point out that Dorance Armstrong's performance in the first 2 games has made me very happy that Randy Gregory changed his mind and bolted for Denver.

D. Armstrong stats: 6 total tackles; 3 solo tackles; 2 sacks

R. Gregory stats: 4 total tackles; 2 solo tackles; 1 sack
1 bonehead penalty resulting in a 1st down for the opposing offense

And I certainly don't miss the stupid penalties by Gregory resulting in key 1st downs for the opposing team. I know the above stats are a small sample size but Armstrong already making a strong early impression.

If only the Cowboys would have used the money saved to sign Von Miller!!!
Go Cowboys!!!
I forgot about him the minute I heard he was whining about the new contract JJ offered him! Good riddance to him and his lousy 6 sacks, he was worth a mega lotto contract that he was demanding!

Something else I didn't notice until I recently looked, their contracts.

Forget their entire contract, just go by the first 3 years since they can both be released after that. For the first 3 years Miller averages 14M a year cap hit, Gregory 12M a year. So yeah, if he was going to pay Randy, paying Von wouldn't have been much of a leap.
Von has stated Dallas offered him the Randy contract and he declined.

VERY lucky.
If he accepted the clause we'd still be paying 12-14M a year for a guy that has never sniffed a Pro Bowl type season.
Dallas flawed sense of loyalty was the only reason the offer ever got that high.
Randy is an 8M a type player.

Go look at his career and tell me ANY year of his where he provided 10M worth of impact?
Nope, strategy BYE

stop trying to make me think like you the jonses did the right thing and time to move on.. that was months ago.. drop it

Funny how things can change in 1 week. Week 1, the Bucs ran all over Dorance Armstrong. He was invisible despite facing a backup tackle much of the game. The following week he plays well against a team with an offensive line that hasn't been able to stop anyone and he's a guy we have to have. Again, can we wait a few games before making these judgements.

Gregory has 2 forced fumbles in 2 games. The entire Dallas team has 1. What does this mean? Nothing. It's a 17 game season. Gregory isn't going to finish the season with 17 forced fumbles and Armstrong isn't going to finish the season with 17 sacks.

The Cowboys could have had Gregory and Armstrong.

NOPE regardless

doesnt matter if we offered Von RGs deal and he claimed and stated publicly he would take a little less to pay here , HE LIED.. if all it was was 2mil difference why isnt he here..nonsense.. time to move on from this our pass rush is doing just fine without him.

VM has 2 sacks in game 1 zero game 2..and the bills have 9 sacks Cowboys 8. we are fine..

i look at like this,

i rather have Fowler, Armstrong and Sam for less money than Just Miller because you have depth outside of Parsons and Tank. Basham also was contributing. mean if miller goes down you lose a major producer but when you have solid rotation as your depth guys , they are interchangeable. obviously the rams and broncos agree lOL other teams weren't fighting early on for millers services. he nice player but a little long in the tooth for that type of deal.

Both of their statistics from last year were almost the same. It was a no-brainer to let Gregory walk and replace him with a smarter, more mature player.

I'm disappointed we even offered him $70 million. We should have let him walk with absolutely no offer. He was never the type of player you want on a team. Not for his production.

Punctuation is your friend.
I had to read that nonsense like 5 times.

0 people believe the silliness you are spewing.

they either:
1. Made the right call to not match all the details/salary because it saved them a ton of money and they are not missing RG's play.
2. They messed up not matching because RG is really good and missed.

There is no option 3 except in lala-land.

In this case they were fortunate. Point blank, period, end of story.

ACTIVE (KNEE)
Gregory did not practice on Wednesday heading into Week 3 versus the 49ers.

Exactly, we didn't need Miller and he just gets in the way of a younger guy we're trying to develop. We already have Parsons and that other guy we pay a lot of money whose name escapes me.

Remember, I'm just going by the first 3 years. Overall Miller's contract is 50M more.
Von Miller isn't playing more than 3 years anyway so that part likely doesn't matter.

The real difference is 3 years 42M for Randy and 3 years 52M for Von.
14M versus 17M a year.

spotrac does a great job by giving us the likely out totals.

TY Glad someone understands, no need for these posts but those still arguing we should have kept him or got VM just aren't paying attention. Tank redid his deal made it more palatable and he is a good DE just not an elite sacker. His pressure numbers, the way he plays the run, and holds up his end are still strong attributes,

Lawrence plays hard, I don't care what anybody says about him. He applies a lot of pressure to the opposing team.

Having DLaw & Parsons occupy anywhere from 2-4 guys means the other DL will have opportunities if they work for it.

Armstrong seems to be taking full advantage of the situation. Fowler also showed flashes.

The DE rotation could be good this season

The correct answer is Von Miller.

Von Miller + Micah Parsons would have been UNRELENTING DESTRUCTION on opposing QBs.

The greatest pass rush in Cowboys history, possibly NFL history.

Bar NONE.

Not for nothing I hope Armstrong continues to eat well and eat a LOT.

But let's not forget who's feeding him.

Look dude, stop. This isn't a debate, it's a fact. It's not opinion. Miller is getting 14M a year for 3 years, Gregory getting 12M a year for 3 years.

Lol, no. That's not how it works.

The thing about releasing a player...is when someone signs said player the team that released him, gets that money back. So if someone signs DLaw, after we release him, for 10 million then we get 10 million back on our books.
Wow didn't think I posted this. Should have said.

At least that's the way I want it to work.

At the end of the last sentence. But I got called away.
