But even if Romo has another 300-yard game like he did in the season-opening win over Tampa Bay, it likely won't silence critics. One of them, Cowboys legend Tony Dorsett, questioned Tuesday why Romo got so big so fast.

“I don't know why on God's Earth Tony Romo has been anointed a superstar in the National Football League,” Dorsett told Fox Sports Radio. “Tony is very young in his career. Not to say you can't be young in your career and be a superstar because you've got one up there in Minnesota in Adrian Peterson.

“But the thing is this: You have a guy who hasn't done much, and quarterbacks in the NFL, most of them go through this growing curve. He hasn't gone through that growing curve, but he was anointed this great player all of a sudden. Now he's having to live up to that. And obviously Tony has some deficiencies.

“But he's a good player who's still learning how to play in the NFL, and I think the media has given him too much credit for doing nothing. He hasn't done anything really in the NFL to deserve all the recognition and visibility he's gotten so far.”

Hopefully people read this. Seems kind of weird that there would be a learning curve in the NFL. Who knew?

Same reason Favre was. I mean there isn't a huge difference between Favre and Romo. Both are prolific gunslinger passers that throw INTs in bunches.

I still want to hear what Peterson has accomplished that Romo has not.

What is it with old Cowboys flapping their gums all the time?

I wish they would address the current players directly instead of going to the media and giving sound bites that contribute to the pressure these guys are already under. Even if Romo got too much acclaim too soon, I don't think that's why he threw three interceptions Sunday night. I really don't.

Because there is always someone willing to stick a tape recorder or microphone in their face for a sound bite or story.

Problem is these guy probably don't even watch the games like most of us do. They probably just catch the highlights and come to random games to promote something or when they are invited by Jerry once in a blue moon.

To me it's clear why Romo gets his props, it's because he is a special player who has been doing things early in his career that most QB's are not capable of.

One thing he said is correct though, he does have to deal with that learning curve and IMHO Romo should be further along.

He is still a special QB though. No doubt about it.

I agree with you, but I think maybe his point was we as the fans shouldn't get down on Tony because he was given all the accolades so early. He's just sticking up for Tony IMO.

Romo may very well still be learning. I hope he is.

But he has been anointed because he in fact has done a lot for this franchise already.

If people can't see that they need to pop in a recording of the Cowboys with Drew Bledsoe at the helm and see how Romo has totally elevated this team.

And btw, Bledsoe was a huge improvement from the QB's we had from 2001 through 2004(?).

Yeah and I can do it wihout insinuating the Race Card has been played,

AP has proven in big games and in small, game in and game out he not only is arguably the best back in the NFL right now, but can carry that team on his shoulders with or without a QB that is worth anything, even his bad games are better than most starting running backs on 31 other teams, there is no comparison, just like when Emmit was in his prime, Aikman on Aikman off, he could carry the team to victory.............

Race card ??? Are you ********?? I meant because AP is a running back ..... thats shows a lot about how your little mind works.

The fact remains that AP (who I think is an astounding back and better at his position than Romo) has also not done anything by the standards that Tony himself layed out as being a Superstar.

Whatever got your panties in a wad against me is gonna cause you some problems if you try to bring up racism again duckboy.

Come on man. AP is hands down the best RB in the NFL.

If you want to hang on to the technicality that "AP hasn't done anything more than Romo" have at it but Romo cannot say he is the best player at his position and AP can.

About Tony being a Runningback just like AP.

You want to read something more into it because you are an **** who has his panties in a wad about something I said (happens often with trolls)

But you keep putting your foot in your mouth boy.

Personally I think they are both Superstars ..... but by the definition that Tony used neither is.

Romo has had the best stats in his first 3 years than anyone playing right now.

So has AP.

Neither have had success in the playoffs.

Tony is easier on AP because he is a runningback ..... he is harder on Romo because he is comparing him to Roger.

I would like to ask Tony if he considers Danny White a Superstar .... ( though I do know that Danny had playoff wins)
