Not to get off subject, but it drives me nuts that members here always identify problems and their solutions before our FO does. Given what they are paid, shouldn't they be dazzling US with their brilliance?
Clearly Jason has taken back over the play calling, except he doesn't seem as lazy and predictable as before (that's probably the biggest problem with this organization- everyone is too comfortable). He looks like he's actually trying to play to win now. Reminds me of 2007 before he sandbagged wade (lol)
We hire a guy with an overly complex defensive scheme and try to make it work in a short offseason and he later admits he didn't have enough time to teach it and needs to dumb it down (you don't say? Most posters here saw that coming before the lockout took place. Why didn't he??)
We hire a guy who is probably way past his prime trying to replicate his successfull scheme from we'll over a decade ago, using the physically wrong player models for his 4-3 zone defense scheme one year after we invest highly into a early "rare ability" physical bump and run corner and pay big for another big physical corner ( the best FA) at the time. When this whole defense is built around Parcells philosophy of using a proven player model for every position to fit the 3-4. Now we have a 3-4 modeled defense trying to play a 4-3, schemed by a guy who's no longer the an innovator, but rather just trying to recreate the "days of old"
And we have a young go getting hungry QB coach on our squad find himself a HC down the road in with the Saints and win a Super Bowl within a couple years and takes a crap team to a yearly SB contender consistently year after year. Personally I'd like to see what Wes Phllips could do with our defense. He obviously wants to be here and he's a third gen football coach who wants to make his mark.
We need to get rid of the career backup coach we have, fire gramps, and get some hungry innovators on the team (lots of experience is just set in their ways IMO). Sorry for the rant, beers are kicking in
