I didn't get to see the game but, I was wondering how did Doug Free do in his first start?

I thought he did very well.

He was injured.

Lost a leg.

Rob Petitti was resigned.

I find it rather humorous that Orackpo couldn't take advantage of a backup Tackle and nothing is said. If our guys don't, they have no talent.

But Proctor is filling in at tackle right? Petitti can't be ready :laugh2:

I agree. Now I know there were some plays where Free did get help but what impressed me was the final drive where we are having to move quick Free pretty much was left out there to fend for himself and did so without making any mistakes.

I saw him turned around once or twice. They rolled the TE to his side for support on occasion. I am uncertain if the game plan (running) had to do with Garrett's lack of confidence in him or trying to exploit a Commanders without Haynesworth. Either way, hes our only option and I look for him to gain confidence from this game and improve.

He got beat badly on a 3rd-and-1 in the 4th quarter, but he held up pretty well besides that. Solid in pass protection, and got a little push in the running game.

Based on the early returns, I think he's a bit of a downgrade in the running game but at least as good as Colombo in pass protection. Romo has a great feel for stepping into the pocket, and Free is nimble enough to force speed rushers well to the outside.

He did a lot better than most people on this board apparently thought he would do. Most of our resident experts wanted him out of here this year. Some had him getting cut.

When i rewatched the game, i think we are in trouble at that spot. He had lots of help and the line was shifting to his side leaving the others in one on ones. He doesn’t hold the corner well, but run blocks pretty good other than that one play where he let his guy bust through to stop Barber on a 3rd and short. I also saw him get completely turned around backwards...but Barber was there to pick up the rusher. Someone said Pettiti...that is exactly who he looks like (physically) or has feet like!

The naysayers will say he got a lot of help from the TE (which is predominantly Witten's side).........

Yet put up the same numbers he's been doing all year.

Next complaint out of their mouth is Witten is in decline.

Seriously, you are not being real with statements like that.

This board is going to erupt if/when we don't take a tackle in the first two rounds.

Wouldn't suprise me at all if we waited til 3.

I'm just saying.....

There is no way in the world we would pass on Steven Jackson would we?

We clearly need a Tackle.

There is no way in the world we would pass on Vollmer, Beatty or Loadholt would we?
