Roger Staubach. Captain Comeback. Even Troy would choose Roger.
Oddly enough, Romo retired with the highest careerWhy? I wondered. Silly question, but then I saw a large percentage going with Tony Romo who choked the bit in almost every big game he ever played. I'm shocked.
Maybe the poll should be, who would you want? Dak, Rush, Lance, or a rookie QB at 24.
There's a reason he's not included in the poll.Roger Staubach. Captain Comeback. Even Troy would choose Roger.
Compared to Aikman, Romo was both more of a playmaker and more of a mistake maker.Romo Without a doubt. Aikman was only great when he had a great team around him. #1 Defense, #1 offensive line and the greatest running back to ever carry the ball. When he lost that, he struggled.
Great facts there.According to PFR,
In these scenarios (trailing < 2 min to go in 4th):
Tony Romo
130 completions
202 attempts
1487 yards
14 tds
3 ints
How late in the game was the bomb to Beasley?I'm struggling to think of a memorable 2 minute comeback engineered by Tad's brother.
Great facts there.
Some ammo for the Romo fans on just how good he was.
(trailing < 2 min to go in 4th) QB Rating: 103.3
It gets better:
4th Down QB rating - 112 - That's just incredible. 4th down was his *best* down by over 10 points.
I thought that was incredible.
Here is an unbelievable cartoon stat:
4th & 10+ QB rating : 158.3
Perfect. How is that even possible?
9/10 141 yards 2 TDs 8 1ds 0 Ints
On that stat, gotta be the GOAT, right?
For the PFR site nerds:
Is there any easy way to get a compilation table of those career stats across all QBs?
I think so, with Stathead, PFR's paid service. Even the free trial I'd have to learn how to use. Don't have the time today. Maybe some other Romo fan can do the needful.

Fun Fact: Season Passer Rating IDX
IDX performs a normalization relative to the other players that season, so you get more of a "best season's player" that can be normalized across time.
For modern era scores, top scores:
Peyton, Montana, Rodgers, Brady, Young, Staubach

You serious pappy?
I'm so glad that was the first answer, because we were all thinking it!Seriously?
The true answer is captain comeback!
but Romo dated pretty stars and wouldn't meet skanks behind strip joints.Great facts there.

Aikman had leads late in games moreso than the others thus the lower comeback numbers.Romo 24 4th quarter comebacks 29 game winning drives.
Prescott 15 4th quarter comebacks 20 game winning drives.
Aikman 14 4th quarter comebacks 22 game winning drives.
The numbers say Romo.
This sums it up
But knowing who won't disappoint you when you throw them the ball is all about making plays. That don't get you down the field with less than 2 minutes to go. Making plays does!
