So you are saying that Jerry makes the call on who they keep and who they cut? I thought that's what coaches do.

Not only that.
I think Jerry also has influence on who starts and what types of plays to call given a situation.
I'm not saying he calls plays during games, but after a game I think he meets with the coaching staff and tells them what should have happened at critical parts of the game.

Even sproles never stayed anywhere too long he played for 3 teams in the NFL, his RB stats were meh outside his tards per attempt but he averaged 4 attempts per game for his career he was more special teams guy where he made his mark, Turpin is more of a better comparison to Sproles in stats

But when you have over the hill gang oline coaches who doesn't develop or put guys in position to succeed especially in run blocking then you have a weak running game. I hope the 2 guys he brought in helps in that regard and the running game will be ok this season. The running game is powered thru the oline and them dominating their guys or correctly accomplishing their assignments on a any given play. Only great backs like Henry could probably could eat up yards behind a bad line. We do not have any backs of that caliber on our roster as of yet. So if this line does it's job I feel good about our running game. If not and our backs are getting stopped as soon as they get the ball or behind the los that is a blocking issue not a back issue. They gotta have good blocking to get it going.

Right. I never thought it was just the players. The...."situational awareness"(?)....to have them do the right things at the right times...Just never seemed to be present to me.

I was in favor of paying JLew so when the Cowboys let him walk I questioned that decision. I really hope this kid can take his place and play well. Big shoes to fill. Cowboys need to "hit" on a UDFA and CB is a good position for that to happen this year.

Lewis was good. He was one of many quality depth pieces Dallas has lost to save a little money to pay for their top heavy roster.

They’re lurking for a huge star at rb but they haven’t chased one . They want a nig time guy there and they’re playing until they find one.

There’s lot of depth at wr. Tolbert and brooks are like solid. Holden and flournoy have bigger ceilings. It’s a good room

Tight end is deep and they have lipke but schoon is kinda here

They put tons of resources in o line and I don’t think we feel like they’re good. They haven’t played together yet I bet you can blitz the heck out of us early and often

The defense is light but who knows maybe they click and it’s like a top 5 group and new stars emerge and they all have nicknames and secret handshakes and things get fun again

And at quarterback we got the last guy to leave the party as the hosts are vacuuming and putting food away and he’s still messing around like he’s gonna get it going again

The issue is that while there are some improvements (interior O-Line, WR, DE, maybe LB), the main weaknesses haven't been addressed. OT is still TBD, RB is not good, & CB/DT is still a bit of a mystery), Therefore the team will rely again on the offense with Prescott's arm and he is not elite enough to carry the team for a season, and when you consider that OT could be problematic, he has a higher chance of getting hurt, which makes a repeat of last year a distinct possibility.

Deuce was never going to make it, but let's get real. He was a late 6th round pick. You take your chances that late in the draft, and expectations are very low.

The real problem was putting him on the active roster. He never earned a spot on the 53. That valuable roster spot should have been used differently. That was the mistake here.

In terms of talent Parsons is the best defensive player in the league. If you go back to March of this year (before all this nonsense started) I don't believe any defensive player in the league would have his value in terms of what teams would be willing to give up in draft picks.

Micah Parsons is 26 years old, 90+ days. Most sack artists do seem to hit a wall in their 30s, but 5 years from now Micah will still be just 31 years old and should still be producing at a high level. In that time you'll likely see Chris Jones (31), Myles Garrett (29), TJ Watt (30), possibly Fred Warner (28) exit the league or be in physical decline. Given his size Dexter Lawrence (27) may be a more limited player 5 years from now as well.


No shortage of top edge players who are 30 or approaching 30 (Garrett, Watt, Hunter, Hendrickson). In general I think Parsons would be a fairly safe pick to still be at least top 10 at his position near the end of an extension on his current deal. The only risk with Parsons is his value is 95% as a pass rusher, and really doesn't have a secondary skill to fall back on if his pash rush ability sees a decline. I suppose you could always look to move him back to LB though. Still the odds of doing so in his 20s is possible but likely low.
