Any of those FS's sound pretty good to me...Huff, Bing, Landry, Watkins. I've seen them all play, impressive. Seem like coverage types we need.
I'm a little concerned about Ngata though since he already has one major knee injury. Also, to get him way late in the first would be a steal. Minus the knee injury, I would rank him higher than Rod Wright and Gabe Watson.
Jonathan Orr is very impressive. Like his game.
I have to think we'll use a first day pick on a OL and maybe a LB.
I'm also a proponent of trading out of the first for an extra '07 first.

HOWEVER, after this last draft, I'm going to trust our scouts for once....I really liked the BPA

Granted its early, but...

Trade Glover and future pick to get back into #1, Ngata is a stud 3-4 NT and Glover will be 34?

I wouldn't say value FS - I Think more it was not a priority with all our other holes......

SANTOS IS MY ALL WORLD SLEEPER - I think he could walk on the field and be an NFL RB tomorrow. But also has arm to put up crazy stats as he has as a QB. He could also play WR tomorrow.... Sic athlete

Hey man... I was first on the Watkins bandwagon...

He is just what we need though. Tall, very athletic, rangy... The "centerfielder" free safety we haven't had since... Well, forever.

Cool I'll ride shotgun on your bandwagon. He's a fast riser. I want a FS to be starter day 1 in camp....

PS - I was sour on Ellis last offseason, not Glover. In fact I was a huge advocate that Glover could play 4-3 and 3-4. And he has. He was a bridge to our future. At his age, size, Cap, its time to move on like Coak last offseason.....

It's amazing how many resist change - a change that WAS NEEDED to upgrade this team out of 5-11 vat of suck....

I would also prefer Huff. Not as a first, but perhaps in the second. I know I will hear "Huff won't last until then." We don't know about any of this for certain.

Huff is a ball hawking safety who is always around the action. Also, he can play corner which could definitely help his draft stock. Depending on how he tests out in workouts, that might end up being his projection as a pro.

But again, way too early to know a lot of these things for certain.

Ha, just kidding you Nors...

He was just a guy I noticed early last year (maybe against Miami?) because the FSU left corner kept getting beat on fly patterns, and this tall safety was fast enough to get to the sideline and either break up the pass or tackle the receiver and save a TD. It's pretty rare to see a safety look faster than a corner at a big school like FSU. So I posted on some board, maybe this one, asking who he was, and a Fla State fan told me who he was and said he'd broken a few of the FSU speed and agility drills for DBs. I was actually very disappointed he didn't come out this past draft. He might not turn out to be worth a darn, but since I touted him early, I thought I should own up to it. ;)

Oh well, I don't know anything about his character or if he tackles well or not -- actually I doubt he does, as skinny as he is. But I do think Parcells would like his height.

And hey, we tried to draft Bullocks last year but missed... If nothing else, this year we could take his twin brother. :D

BTW, I agree on Huff, he looks like he can't miss. Fortunately for us, there seem to be several good FS prospects this year.

Finally!!!!!! a man with some intelligence....... :D

There's the redirect.

If we disagree with your ideas we are against making changes.

Been there, done that, won't waste my time ripping you apart on it again.

4) Dontrell my man Moore RB - STEAL of draft

I have to agree with you on this one. He isn't the fastest back in the draft or the shiftiest. All he does is score touchdowns.

The NCAA record holder for touchdowns by a running back.

And someone is going to get him cheap because of injuries.

I'll repost my Bye-Week Boredom Dream Mock, since it was buried in Sports Zone:

First Round: Bobby Carpenter, LB, Ohio State- Also love Huff but I'm projecting any and every "son of a former player/coach" as a future Cowboy until Parcells stops picking them. This one's a no-brainer. He's projected as a high second rounder but I'm planning on picking late so it's not much of a reach... :D

Second Round: Joe Klopfenstein, TE, Colorado- I watched this moose leave everything on the field even as the Buffs got rolled by Texas. He'll win the Mackey award and he sounds like a guy Parcells would draft.

Third Round: Dwayne Slay, FS, Texas Tech- Monster-sized FS (6,3, 215) who covers very well. After watching him dominate last week, did some research and found out he's also a feared headhunter on special teams. Money.

Fourth Round: Jovon Bouknight, WR, Wyoming- My sleeper. Exciting playmaker flying under the radar in the putrid Mountain West conference. Former HS QB, deadly on reverses, puts up biggest numbers against major-school competition. Excellent kick returner and appears to be a very solid character. Sounds like Crayton and could be a similar find.

Because I was for Keepin Glover in 05 does not mean I'm for keeping him in 2006....

Wise to back off as you know why the 4-3's advocated keeping Glover this year  For all the wrong reasons - cough -

There were few that advocated Glover in 3-4. And he's done it - just time to move on in off season and get younger and bigger at NT. Thats how this works.....

Gabe Watson of Michigan was supposed to be a stud. He's fallen off the face of the earth.

I like Pat Watkins. I've heard some question his toughness.....not good.

The most exciting thing about this draft is the fact that there's no glaring need anywhere. I feel we can truly sit back and let the best player land in our lap.

Still early and always a crap shoot....

I'm not convinced we hae the OT issue resolved...even with Columbo....so

1) Eric Winston, or Joe Thomas, or Jonathon Scott (who ever falls) (OT)
2) LeRon Landry (FS)
3) Todd Watkins (WR)
4) No pick
5) Aldo De La Garza (OG)
6) Devan Long (DE/OLB Tweener)
7) Troy Bienemann (TE)

Just curious. What are you laughing at?

Just Nors inability to get off trading Glover only to draft his replacement. The man stcisk to his agenda, I'll give him that.

My first stab -

Trade players / future picks to garner 2nd #1.....
Assume we have all picks later rounds (some traded etc)

1a) Ngata NT Fergi backup in 2006
1B) Pat Watkins - S 6-4 205 4.5
2) I'm sold - Klopfenstein TE 6-5+ 245 4.59
3) Jonathan Orr WR - 6-1 193 4.31 SLEEPER
4) Dontrell my man Moore RB - STEAL of draft
5) J Lewis DT - 6-1 310 DT depth
6) M Lawson DE/OLB 6-5 230 4.7 TWEENER
7) Ricky Santos!!!! RS sophomore :) QB/RB UNH rewriting 1 -AA record books.... Next crayton

Moore would never see the field.

And Id like to see a guard or two
And I think we resign Cambell, and if not Pierce is ok as a #2 TE
and I hear this Ngata is a stud and wont last to 32

Oh. I didn't catch that.

I figure draft favorite will change a 100 times between now and then. I like the Ngata pick, but we have no shot at him. We'd have to lose out and that isn't happening.

A bus full of supermodels will break down in front of my house before we draft an o-lineman in the first round.
